Stayed here for our 1st vacation without kids in 12 years. We stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor, facing the water.. Beautiful location. Front desk people are generally nice as well. Big comfortable king-size bed and lots of the most comfortable pillows ever! Ideally, you're located right near downtown and kinda in the middle of everything else.
Cons •Hotel breakfast is good, but they constantly served the same thing if you're there multiple days in a row. • Room walls/ floors, etc, are paper thin. You can literally hear everything. Talking, doors closing, walking, etc. If you're a light sleeper, bring something to make white noise or cancel out all the noise or you won't sleep. • Toilet Paper is about 100 grits. So if your idea of roughing it isn't having a raw bum, pick up your preferred TP prior and maybe some flushable wipes as well. • The number of bugs to come in the room just from the balcony is unbelievable. If you don't want to spend the next 40 minutes killing bugs, don't go out after sunset
• No housekeeping if you are staying more than one day. You have to bring all your dirty towels down to the front desk to get new ones . They don't change your sheets, restock your bathroom, take your garbage, nothing. For the amount you pay to stay here, They should have housekeeping 24/7. People were actually carrying out their own trash to throw in the garbage themselves. Our room wasn't throughly cleaned before we had gotten there. There was a stain on one of the pillows. Outside bugs galore in our room. Hairs in the shower and pretzels on the floor under the foot of the bed. As stated previously, there is no housekeeping for people who stay more than one day. So your SOL.
Restraunts • DogPatch restaurant was a 5/10. The food was good but greasy. It was pretty expensive for the quality of food.
•Pictured Rock Pizza 10/10. They are friendly and fast. The pizza is cooked over a wood fired stove. The Philly Steak and Cheese is amazing. Cute little sitting area outside with a few outdoor games to preoccupy your time. I am not a huge pizza person, but I could have eaten here all 3 days. It's a must do!
•Foggy Steak House Food 6/10. The food was good, the service was good but the wait time is ridiculous. Took us 27 minutes to get a table while waiting at the bar, and we waited that whole 27 minutes without a drink. The bar was jam-packed. There was only 1 bar tender. He was getting drinks for the waitresses and the bar. While also serving food to people who chose to eat at the bar due to lack of seating. We sat at our table, and it took another 36 minutes for our appetizers and drinks. There were only 2 of us. After we got our appetizers, she took our order for dinner, and we waited 48 minutes for that. I wouldn't recommend eating here just for the wait time alone. They are better staffed and have a system down.
• Buckhorn Resort Food 9/10. The food was really good. Came fast to, but we beat the dinner crowd as well. The soup was good. deep fried mushrooms were delicious. I would recommend going here on a weekend and hitting it around 430/5.
The Waterfalls are nice, but be prepared to walk quite the distance for most of them. Mosquito Falls was probably one of the roughest terrain wise. I think Wagner Falls and Minors Falls were the best.
Twelve Mile Beach is also recommended!! Rocks are Gorgeous, if your a rock connoisseur, don't get caught taking rocks. It's illegal 😬. Mary Jane is legal, but taking the rocks/flower, plants is not.
Pictured Rock Cruises is AMAZING! 10/10 Take the Sunset Spray Falls Cruise. The last one of the night. You will love it!! Best thing we did on our trip. BOOK IN ADVANCE, fills up fast fast. Sit on the upper deck of the 3 story boat on the farthest right side. You get more pictures/views. The main building also has the best gift shop/souvenirs of the whole town. 👍 *If you're looking for a great getaway vacation, this is not it! If you're looking to hike/explore or find yourself, this is your destination!
Hope you enjoy your stay in...
Read moreWe stayed three nights at Comfort Inn Munising. Upon check in the front desk attendant never asked for ID or to verify the credit card was in my name. Never signed any paperwork just handed the keys and said you will be on the third floor. I was not thanked for being a member or offered water or chips. The room was nice but showed a lot of wear and tear. Our shower curtain was dirty upon arrival and we had to request for a new one from the front desk. The front desk clerk was taking care of a guest on the phone with multiple issues and did not once ask to put the guest on hold to take care of the line that was forming. After about 30 minutes we got our new shower curtain (they never apologized for the dirty curtain). The pillows in the room have no more fluff left in them. Need about three to prop your head up. The comforters are also in need of replacement. Both beds had comforters that had stains and rips. The walls and ceiling needed to be repainted. They also had cobwebs that needed cleaned. The carpet and floor needed a good deep cleaning. The lamp on the desk we turned it on and you could see the layer of dust. The tub and sink had a bad clog that was never handled. They do not do any stayover service so you must ask. We figured this out even though the front desk never informed of this policy and they did not have the door hangers to request service like other Comforts. Not one staff person wore a uniform or a name tag. Breakfast was the same food every morning. Most of the time the attendant would let the breakfast room be and just hope for tips. Multiple times there was trash and empty waffle containers and a dirty counter but she would not clean till the end of the breakfast. Almost always there was only one front desk attendant and a couple times they would be gone forever and people would just have to wait. Not sure why in the evenings they do not have extra staff. With the prices they are charging I thought the room and the overall building would of been in...
Read moreThe Comfort Inn was outrageously expensive for what you got, I would not stay there again, and find a different hotel in Munising. We chose it because of wanting to use their exercise room which was laughable because it was so unusable. No wipes, no hand sanitizer, the treadmill didn’t work at all, there was no mirror to check your lifting of weights. Our hotel room smelled like pets which is inexcusable. They put a smoke detector with bright light on the wall right next to the bed which had to be covered up because you couldn’t sleep with it. Naturally the microwave light is staring you in the face too, but at least you could drag your clothing on top of that to drown out the light. The towels were thin, thin and almost threadbare. The flusher on toilet had been worn away by some many hands using it, it was no longer “ chrome” but a black worn flusher. There was barely any hand sanitizer in the breakfast area, and the meal was your basic food. We actually went out for breakfast the following morning because we couldn’t stand the thought of the same old, same old. I will commend them for having a balcony with chairs, and a hot shower that worked. We are not hoity toity people at all..we have been to MANY hotels, B and Bs, Inns etc all around the world, and have never written a negative review till now. And I can understand if the room was under $100, but to pay in EXCESS of $340 a NIGHT for a room like that..it’s so wrong. The staff seemed totally overworked, the receptionist was working many shifts and was not your friendly “ welcome to the Comfort Inn” type. I was so disappointed with our choice of hotel..I can never recommend...
