My first review was over dispute about the price, I ended up booking here anyway to stay with family I have stayed at many Hampton Inns, this was by far the WORST. I have listed the pros/cons below as it got lengthy. Cons • Given the wrong room upon check in & had to return to front desk to fix immediately • dirty sheets on fold out couch when we checked in • broken shower drain • had to pull very hard to shut hotel room door or it stayed slightly open • lobby table corners are sharp enough to & did cut skin • Ran out of many breakfast items & served spoiled fruit • No cookies or dessert offered at all • Pool area is lacking & hot tub is really only big enough for 2-3 people • No outside trash cans near vehicle parking • a "secure" side door from stairs leading outside was found open on numerous occasions • I was charged for two rooms instead of one Pros • comfortable beds • A/C & Fridge works great When we arrived they had given us the wrong room, we were supposed to have a King bed W/ pull out couch. Front desk got us a new room. We unfolded the couch to find dirty sheets & a sock from a previous occupant. Once you find dirty sheets you tend to question the cleanliness of the entire room. Upon a clorox wipe down of surfaces (which I do in every hotel I stay) my wipes were dirty. See pic attached. This is the first time I’ve stayed at a Hampton Inn & had dirt on my clorox wipe after cleaning the surfaces. Shower drain plug will not stay open. I get out & had to find SOMETHING to hold the drain open while still allowing the water to drain. I was able to improvise & use a plastic coffee thing from the bathroom sink by the coffee pot (see attached pic). This worked but it’s annoying to keep shoving it in there as we showered. Most hotel doors close on their own when you leave the room. Not ours. We had to pull the door every time. We had family/friends join us in the lobby & as we are eating one of our friends cut his arm on the corner of the long table in the lobby. He was BLEEDING. The table where my kids are eating had such sharp corners it cut an adults arm. How does that even happen? The front desk attendant covered the corners with TAPE. Breakfast was OK. On Sunday the pineapple they put out was bad. They ran out of apple juice, asked to refill, never happened. The orange juice tasted weird. The pool area is OK. The hot tub was a joke. It said max 6 people. 3 was too many & it was too hot because the timer was stuck always on. There are NO trash cans outside the side or back doors. There is a door that exits the building from the rear stair well. Most of the time it was left ajar, I had to laugh at this seeing as the door right next to it required a card & both got you in the hotel. Hampton Inn charged our credit card with our room & my sister's room. We had one charge for $274 & another for $306. Her hotel room was booked the day before us by phone using HER CREDIT CARD. Our room was booked the next evening by internet with OUR CREDIT CARD. WHY? I can only assume it is because we have the same last name. So now, it’s Thursday, 6/7 & my CC statement closes today. I was told that the manager was gone so there was no way to reverse the charge until the next day. We were very upset & thought maybe we should just dispute it with the credit card company & asked why they couldn't contact someone at corporate. Later we were told they got in touch with someone who could reverse it & it would be reversed that day (again 6/7). When the credit for the $274 finally appeared on my credit card statement on Tuesday 6/12 it was dated 6/8 which shows me they didn’t get it done on 6/7 as promised. This upsets me because I had to pay off that credit card balance before I was reimbursed. It is also upsetting because this NEVER should have happened since our card was not listed for my sister’s room at all. I will never stay at this hotel again. Next time I am in Muscatine, I’m booking the...
Read moreI travel for work. I do about 50+ stays a year. I am a Hilton person so I always pick the closest "Hilton" hotel to my sales call. Hence why I was at the Hampton Inn in Muscatine IA.||||E-checked in the day before, like always. Earlier in the day I stayed here, 2/22, I was checking into my next hotel and I noticed I had double booked a stay at this hotel. I was rather stunned. Seriously, I have booked hundreds of stays through the app and this was the first time I double booked.||||So, when I went into the hotel, I figured I would have to pay for the extra booked room. I met Delia who was manning the desk. I explained my situation, and she brought out her manager. I was stunned! She canceled the second room with no fees/charges. This alone, gives me loyalty to this hotel if I am back in the area and will recommend it to anyone and everyone (you too, who are reading this).||||Ok, so now that it was taken care of, I went to my room. It was very nice. Plenty of outlets, the pillows were still fluffy (this is always a sign a hotel cares about the guest), everything was clean and didn't feel dated at all. The bed was good, slept very well. Didn't have that sag in the middle that a lot of hotel beds have, which was wonderful. ||||Now, I was stuck with the dilemma of food. Since I have never been to the area, I asked Delia, my Muscatine best friend, for opinions of where to eat. She took the time to ask what I liked, and gave some personal recommendations. I can't say enough about how nice she was! Friendly, happy, actually had a personality and let it shine through. I wish more people in hotels were like her and the manager (whom I didn't get her name).||||Slept well, went to breakfast the next morning and it was exactly what you would expect. The hot food was scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and potatoes with peppers/onions. Was it gourmet? No. Was it pretty good? Yes. No one stays at a Hampton Inn for the breakfast but the consistency was on point, they had chocolate chips for the waffles (wife wasn't with me so I could get away with acting like a kid) and the coffee was fresh and available.||||If you have made it this far, why? Ha! Seriously, though. If you need to stay in the Muscatine area, make the Hampton Inn your...
Read moreThe Muscatine Hampton Inn gets one star only because I can't give it zero or negative stars. I've stayed there several times over the past few years, and offered the feedback below before several times. Like previous times, the staff was kind, apologetic, and even appeared a little embarrassed. They agreed with all of the points made below and said managment was aware of the issues, but always had the "we're working on it" as an excuse for the guest. First, the hotel sets back off of the main road so the parking lot and building exterior is extremely dark. Mainly because except for the red Hampton Inn sign on the roof none of the exterior building lighting and 80% of the light poles aren't working. The parking lot lighting is extremely dark any sense of secuity is alarming and potentially negligent. The staff has stated before on multiple occasions, they don't feel comfortable taking the trash out because it gets so dark out there. The channel guide is hand-written (poorly) and not given to you when you check in. The TV has no internal channel guide, so you have to go to the front desk and request one. The shower water pressure was weak, and several times, flat stopped flowing. Water temperature fluctuated from hot, warm, and cold. In the morning, cold water shower at some point should be expected. I actually felt sorry for the staff. It appeared that they had heard all of this before from multiple guest and they really didn't know what to say in response. The morning of our checkout several guest were sharing the same concerns and the very pleasant staff member said they understood and would pass it on to management. For three years nothing has changed. I won't be staying...
