I haven't been to a Maid Rite since 1984 when I lived in the Peoria Illinois area. So when I heard that they were still available in Iowa I had to get one before we left. So on our way home we stopped at the Maid-Rite in Muscatine. I have to say it was everything that I remember. The store is very nostalgic looking. It has lots of memorabilia from older times on the wall as well as vintage Made Rite signs. The Maid-Rite Sandwich was exactly how I remembered. The chili was pretty good. I enjoyed it. I don't like spicy foods and that was perfect. My daughter had a hot dog and it was huge but she really enjoyed it. The restaurant, which also offers drive through window service, offers table and booth seating with table service. Waitstaff is always prompt and friendly. Food selection ranges from the ever popular Maid-Rite (reg. or dry), Cheese-Rite, Tenderloin, Hotdogs, and other sandwiches plus fries with cheese or chili or both. I have driven from Detroit to eat at this Muscatine Maid-Rite because it is, by far, the very best location, PERIOD! I order mine "wet" or extra juicy with everything on them and they are without a doubt best described as "heavenly." Not much on this planet can compete with a Muscatine Maid-Rite...they are THAT spectacular! The 1919 Root Beer is also just incredible! The onion rings and corn clusters are must haves. The service and staff are top notch, kind, fast, and very helpful. I just love EVERYTHING about this location.
