Our recent stay at The Neighborhood Hotel over the Fourth of July holiday was an absolute delight! This boutique apartment-style hotel exceeded our expectations in every way, offering a unique and memorable experience.. The apartment-style accommodations at The Neighborhood Hotel were simply outstanding. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The attention to detail in the design and furnishings added a touch of elegance and sophistication to the overall ambiance. The hotel's prime location in the heart of the neighborhood was a definite highlight. We were within walking distance of charming shops, vibrant restaurants, and exciting attractions. It was the perfect base for exploring the local area and immersing ourselves in the Fourth of July festivities. We got to enjoy the unique pop-up hosted by Txa Txa in the backyard of the hotel. It was such an incredible meal and an experience that won’t be forgotten. We can’t wait to go back! We’ve stayed at the Grand Beach location as well and it’s just as delightful!!

What an excellent concept the Neighborhood Hotels have hit on. This lovely, inviting hotel is AirBNB-ish in terms of the owners not being on-site (but always reachable), however it is far more advanced and controlled than most AirBNB’s in terms of quality. We loved everything about the New Buffalo property, and every time we turned around we were pleasantly surprised by the owner’s intuitive grasp of what would make our stay more delightful. From the well provisioned common kitchen (with its jars of S’mores ingredients for a bonfire), to the yoga mats in our closet (just in case), to the separate outbuilding with comfy seating for group gatherings, to the luxurious bedding and comfy bed…the list goes on. The location was perfect, just around the corner from the main drag, but tucked in a bit with a dedicated parking lot. Five stars for this hotel…hope to check out its sister properties in Chicago someday.

We had an amazing experience at the neighborhood hotel! Super easy communication via text and check in was a breeze with a personalized code. If we had any questions- we were able to reach someone immediately to take care of it. The outdoor fire pit was a nice touch because they have s’mores ingredients stocked in the communal kitchen! Everything was easy to walk to- great restaurants and shopping all recommended in a virtual “field guide” they send to you before check in. We will definitely be back- it was nice to stay on a quiet street too! We also had the room where you can have your dog stay with you- another plus. Also the week one cookies were some of the best cookies I’ve ever had. Thanks for a great stay!

We recently stayed for 2 nights in "Suite" 104. This is off of the back porch and not accessible from the main home. The back door code did not work, and when I reached out to the number that texted me the door codes, they said it was fixed, but it was not for the duration of our stay. We had to walk around to the front of the house to get inside to retrieve items from the refrigerator. This "suite" is a double bed and a bathroom. The bathroom has limited to no countertops for belongings, and there is no place in the shower for a bar of soap except the ground.

On both mornings at 8 am, construction in the room directly below us began with drilling, sawing, and loud talking. So, on our vacation, we were up early. It was not communicated to us at all that there would be construction on the property, much less that it would be early and right below us.

There were one or two cars in the parking lot all weekend, so it seems that the hotel was not booked. It would have been nice to get an actual suite since that is what we were booking. I'm not sure why we were stuck on the back porch.

I did reach out to the number that texted me about the door code to share our experience. They offered a 50% refund on our stay and a discount on a future stay. The location is great, but we will not be back. It felt very disrespectful, and the customer service aspect, with no communication about the construction, paired with not seeing another person at all,...

I almost never leave reviews but was so underwhelmed with my stay I felt I needed to. This is a glorified Airbnb and not a hotel. There is no front desk. They ask you to put your towels and sheets in the bathroom. If you have a problem there’s no number to call you can only text. There’s a bench in the room that smells like cat urine. The staff that was here was pretty rude when we arrived and treated us like we weren’t supposed to be here which felt implicitly biased. I’m not picky and could get over this if it was an actual Airbnb and half the price but at $400/night feel that it’s quite the scam. Would not recommend. The location is good and very walkable.

Edit: After writing this, the toilet stopped working. The same staff member came to our room at 10:59 am (checkout is 11 am). She knocked on the door and when she did not receive an answer let herself in and proceeded to ask my husband (who had our 10 week old baby with him) if he was checking out.

I was later contacted about this review and told "they told a very different story from what I am hearing from you." Proceeded to accuse us of "shoving a diaper" in the toilet. Further "I know our property manager very well & know she would never intentionally be rude or judgemental" and proceeded to discuss concern's over this person's feelings.

This is the modern day version of "we don't like...

Oh what a gem! Charm, quaint place and location. My husband and I stayed two nights ago to watch The Michigan game (and avoid bad weather)... we were travelling home and found the perfect stay. We walked across the street to The Brewery (GREAT FOOD) for dinner and the game. The Neighborhood has too many niceties to list them all, but here are a few: The bed and pillows are incredibly comfortable. The place (not just the room) was so clean. I'm a bit germaphobic...but was not concerned at all. The botique like stay has a cape cod feel (we stay on the Cape often) with quality touches. The patio areas are so inviting... we did not sit outside (winter/snow), but checked it out. We are putting this on our next vacation plans for summer, spring or fall. I wish I had taken some pics. We stopped at a quaint Starbucks just around the corner... even the chain SB was unique with charm. Not like the standard chain. The town and Neighborhood Hotel (hotel used loosely because it feels like home) ooze charm and comfort. Loved our check in... it was flawless and welcoming. This delightful place is all custom... right down to the toiletries! I did take pics as I was getting ready to go in for my coffee which was right around the corner. I'll include one if I have...
