Where do I begin! We were in town for a wedding and booked a room at the Asteria Inn. We got a call from Kim the manager at asteria about a week before the wedding confirming that we had a room and everything was good to go. When we got there we found out that they could not "Find" our room. We the were told every single room at that hotel and every other hotel was booked up that night!!!! The desk clerk, woefully undertrained BTW which was surprising as it's gotta be one of the easier jobs around, called the manager and told her the situation. He told her that he had guests in front of him that booked a room but was not showing up in their system. Then he told her that we had a voicemail from her personal phone confirming that we had a room. Guess what she did.....nothing!! She didn't ask to speak to us and apologise or offer up another solution. She got off the phone and just left that to her teenaged help to deal with. Now we understand that accidents happen. But it's how you deal with the aftermath of those accidents that matter the most. We will not be going back to this bush league hotel and the 300+ people at the wedding, the majority who live in New Richmond, know full well the way we were treated and how they do business at the Asteria. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. THERE ARE BETTER OPTIONS IN NEW RICHMOND!!!!!!!! And to the manager Kim I can only hope that karma will grace you on a future trip with the same hospitality and professionalism, or lack thereof, that you...

Read moreThe people responsible for your care while there actually do sincerely care. I start with that opening line that I've honestly rarely used because to me that is number one on the priority list when I am making a decision on where to stay while travelling. And these days its hard to know based on a booking site what type of people their staff consists off. Everyone I have interacted with havd been very kind, considerate and ameniable in every way. For example one night I booked the wrong dates...most places would decry, "oh no...nothing we can do..". Well not here, all I heard was, "no problem sir, I will take care of it!"
Room was clean! Behind the head of my bed was vacuumed! I always peek there as that tells me the level of care more often than you'd think. Ive stayed at 300 a night places and found an ansolute nightmare between head of bed and the wall, I feel the just emanates bad xi.
Bathroom was clean and stocked.
Location nice, walking distance to Walmart, goodwill and lots of restaurants. Kwik trip is throwing distance.
Were there minor things I could pick on? Yes, but Im not even going to mention them because I was that happy with my stay and I shared these minor items with the guy in charge and am confident they will be addressed. I have spent the last year living out of hotels working and travelling and I knew right away it was a good place with good people. Is there a spa? Nope..., but you will feel safe and not be treated like a second class citizen...
