DUMP! When making a reservation, two weeks prior to arrival, asked if all amenities were operational, told yes. Excited to arrive! We arrived, and the troubles began. 45 minutes to get into our room. Maintenance had to open the door, deadbolt was on! šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø In the room right away we noticed the window was literally falling out and another window in the unit had a leak, so it was raining in the room. Staff took another hour to find us another room. Told us the hotel was full. To learn later = a lie. In the second room we found it filthy. Pubic hair on the floor, room had not been dusted in a very long time-layers of cakey dust. Bathtub not clean had hair in it. Floor in kitchen had filth. No other rooms available=lie! Emma & Karen more interested in standing outside, smoking vs helping guests in lobby, including us. Karen kept shaking her head at us, as though we were a nuisance to her. Thankfully, Damon was a kind young maintenance man who came to the room & cleaned it. Asked Ashlee for a different room the next morning-again told she could not move us w an eye roll. ā€œNo balconies availableā€=lie! Many rooms had no movement the entire week! The coffee pot in the room was disgusting! Note, you get one package of coffee for entire stay, have to pay $1 for any additional coffee packets. Dishwasher is rusty. Closet knobs are caked with filth. During our stay, the front desk called our room twice, once at 7 AM saying there was a fire alarm in our room. No alarm in our room, we were not cooking or burning anything. We told the operations manager who responded ā€œit was not his job & he did not know anything about it.ā€The floors in the room are extremely slippery. My partner fell as a result; his feet, and the floor were dry. It is something they use on the floor for cleaning. I had a couple near misses falling! We talked with others in the hotel who had similar experiences. One couple checked out after only one night they were so frustrated! The beds are hard with cheap mattresses, and the pillows are clumpy foam! We were told maintenance week was the week prior to us coming. So everything should have been perfect, they said. Many rooms vacant entire week! Tidy service offered Weds they say. We didn’t get the service! Asked, they had no explanation. Pool empty and liner falling apart so our view was pounding, scraping, and music from a contracted company. Not ocean view we dreamed of! Lock on our door was loose! Didn’t feel safešŸ‘ŽšŸ¼ see all photos for proof of my review. First room 301 then moved to 207. Their photos look great. Don’t be deceived!

We don't have a time-share & didn't stay there but we were visiting friends that are staying there as their guests this week. We live here & own a business locally. We were there several days out of this last week and I have to say we love the Islander! The planned activities for kids and adults is awesome. Everything is clean. Staff is friendly! I have to give specific shout outs to Kim, Nancy and Patti! They were nice, patient and friendly with all the kids. Always a pleasure to talk to them! Love the islander & amenities! One suggestion! It would be absolutely amazing if the Islander opened up day passes or season passes to the public or maybe just volusia residents to come enjoy the amenities! We would so purchase something like that. Of course we understand it wouldn't be allowed on holiday weekends but it would be a great extra revenue for the islander and more families could enjoy and you could count us in! It's a little hard juggling only how many guest passes that are allowed daily. So that's my only suggestion. We love it! Thanks for a fun week with friends!

I used to be a timeshare owner here - for years, my family owned timeshares well before I ever did. This is the WORST place to own a timeshare. The assessment fees are extremely ridiculous, this is an OLD building. The timeshare was given to us by a well-meaning family member who ended up strapping us with a burden. You have to pick your dates a year in advance -- with two working schedules it is hard to have time off to fit into the week you picked a year ago lacking psychic powers... so often you would have to request a rental - NEVER did we receive a rental amount for our room, it was always, "No, sorry, it wasn't rented." How could this ever be verified? No one ever showed us documentation or even offered, even after we repeatedly asked. The assessments EVERY single year were MUCH more than what it would cost to stay in ANY 3-5 star hotel along the beach anywhere you wanted in New Smyrna -- let alone in this place. So every year we were flushing a minimum of $600 down the drain for a place we couldn't attend and they claimed they couldn't rent year after year. On top of it as owners, we had an efficiency and were forced to pay a LARGE remodel assessment one year for BALCONIES when our efficiency did not have one, the board claiming that "it benefited the entire building and all owners." You better believe all the board members had balcony units that year! So we were lucky enough to pay remodel fees for amenities we didn't even have nor did it affect the value of our units. The building is in decline, it will be in need of CONSTANT remodeling for years to come -- timeshares here are a waste and just a money pit. You are not just paying the initial fee, you are paying for their maintenance and constant state of upkeep. You can go a few places down and stay at beautiful hotels for similar amounts and in much better condition -- it doesn't even offer much to the public. The rooms and halls all smell extremely mildewy, the AC's are always breaking down, there is no recourse for badly behaved people staying there (the staff doesn't care if someone is partying late at night, keeping up five other rooms, if kids are trashing the hallways or throwing garbage into the hot tub). The staff has declined over the last years I had been going there, less about customer service, snotty, rude, and at one point one of the male staff members was hitting on underage guests there (is no one paying attention to what the staff does out in the open?). Bad experience if you are either a timeshare owner OR staying as a hotel guest - much better quality places to stay in the...

You know that old saying "Can only make a first Impression Once" This wasn't a Good first Impression Location is great right on the beach and convenient to I-95 Plenty of parking The building is 7 floor and only 1 operating elevator (actually there's 2 elevators) Stairs at both ends but the stair ways are beware they don't get cleaned too often as the railings & Steps have quite a bit of pigeon poop on them The furnishings are dated and the appliances need replacing Our microwave, toaster, dishwasher are rusting the refrigerator ice maker didn't work and you have to slam the fridge door closed as it doesn't sit level on the floor The tub it seems to be sitting on a bit of a slant and makes for uncomfortable footing (and was very slippery as if covered in something oily I had to scrub the tub floor before I felt safe standing in the tub) There should be grab bars in the tub and shower for safety The floor are not clean if you don't have shoes on you get black feet Most of the people working here are NOT friendly some down right rude I was barked at when we arrived and told You're early Check in is at 4:00 Fill these papers out then come back at 4:00!! If you want clean towels you have two, two hour windows to exchange towels if there's someone there I heard one maintenance man say the building should be condemned, I asked a housekeeping supervisor about this statement and she said the building is just fine OK but this is not what you need to hear in the only working elevator They do have pay laundry which is good Elevator lines are long especially during check-in and out times and around dinner hours and some guest get a bit annoyed having to wait their turn There was one lady who was exceptional (I'll call her "C") She was kind, and helpful and had an amazing personality Too bad most of the other front desk, and a number of housekeepers, and maintenance people are NOT I would based upon our experience not...
