Yes, the resort is right on the beach, but it is not very pretty like in Cancun or even Miami. Just brown. Here is a fact (and not a fun one and you can google this): Here are the World's Most Shark Infested Beaches. #2. New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Also, I was informed by owners at this resort not to walk on the beach at night because it is dangerous. Homeless people hang out there. This resort is not smoke free. You may smoke anywhere except the unit. Not pleasant having smoke blowing in your face if you are sitting next to a smoker by the pool. The staff at the resort were cordial at best. They gave me no information about anything upon check-in. All they did was take my ID, credit card, and hand me my room key. I had contacted the resort in advance to request a one-bedroom unit in the main building, on a higher floor. I got a one-bedroom in the main building, on the second floor right next to the elevator. I went back to the desk and asked if there were any other units available as I was concerned about the noise of the elevator. The person said, “No, we are completely full.” So, I headed to my unit. First, I found that the TV in the bedroom did not work and then noticed that the sliding door was broke, (not to mention the balcony and chairs on the balcony were filthy)! Maintenance was quick to try to attend to these issues. They said they did not have parts to fix the sliding door (really?). He gave me a pipe and said I should just place that in the slots on the sliding door to lock it. As far as the TV, he said “it was going” and needed to be replaced. He said there were no extras and would get a different one from an open room. Open room?? I said, “I thought the resort was full?” He said, “Oh, not it’s not full.” So, the person at the desk lied to me? I told him never mind about the TV and would see how it went. It did constantly continue to lose sound and signal throughout the week. Unfortunately, the first few days I was there the area was bombarded by “love bugs.” Not the resort’s fault, but while the bugs were there, the pool, grounds – everywhere were covered with these bugs. Dead bugs all over in the pool. Once they were gone (after a few days mind you), they did not clean up the dead bugs laying all over very well. Owners there said that was not typical. Thankfully, they at least did clean the pool. I love to lounge by the pool. There were no umbrellas for the lounge chairs by the pool or area along the fence by the beach. Only by the tables. I did not see any place where umbrellas could be rented either. A couple times a day, I saw a truck drive by renting chairs/umbrellas while on the beach. You could not take any chairs from the resort to the beach. Note that beverages or food are not allowed within 6 feet of any pool. You cannot have a beverage while in the pool, or set it next to the pool and they patrol. The pools were nice and there was a tiki hut, which was open from 9-5. I thought the menu items were too pricey though. I ordered a margarita one day and it had no taste for $7.00 in a small plastic cup. While I was there, they did an insect inspection. I was told they would start at 10:00 AM. I found this to be very inconvenient as did other guests. Some guests there complained about bed bugs! I will say that I did not see any bugs in my unit at all. One thing people complained about also was that there were no vending machines or anything to purchase any items that may have been needed (sunscreen, aspirin, milk, snacks, etc.). A small area with items for purchase would be nice. You would need to walk to Walgreen’s about four blocks away. I was standing by the elevators (one was broke) as I was going down to check out. A woman came up behind me with a large overflowing trash bin. When the elevator finally arrived, she pushed past me, and since there was not enough room for me with my suitcase, I had to wait for the next one. So…the trash is more important than a guest? All in all, the stay at this resort was acceptable,...
Read moreWe experienced a nice room which has all amenities and appliances (including dish washer) except for an oven, despite having bakeware taking up cabinet space. Almost no room to use cabinets because of how much they supply (cutlery, silverware, blender, several mugs/glasses, dishes, small bowls, toaster, tongs, etc). Right in front of the beach, has two nice hammocks, lots of beach chairs, two pools (the 3-7ft one seems heated because it's always warmer than the 3-4ft, larger pool) and there's not only a shower, but a pretty cool weight-activated leg/foot wash at both entrances to wash off sand. Cute kid's and all ages games at pool area with prizes. No bath tub but the shower water is quick to warm up and you don't have to calculate how far to the left of right to turn the knob- 75% of the knob is warm/hot. We left our AC on 85° so the room would be warm after returning from a swim. The rooms are so small that they cool quickly, but while sleeping you notice that the AC blowing makes it real cold, and then it gets real warm when it pauses so you'd have to combine the ceiling fan with a neutral actually setting. The three biggest downfalls was that the toilet smells of everything as if it's never bleached, there's no room service to clean or replace amenities and the towel exchange is only three times a week at certain times (so of your towels are all dirty and soaked over the weekend, you'd have to wash and dry them yourself at the laundromat they have in there with two of each machine for $1.50 each, plus $1.00 detergent and $1.00 dryer sheets). We brought 6 swimsuits to last us the weekend and just dried them with a few towels half-way through our stay. Lastly, the rooms are so discreetly dusty that anyone who is even the slightest bit allergic or sensitive will not be able to breathe while sleeping. Bring ear plugs because light snorers will become heavy snorers and even wake themselves. We called the front office to request dusting while we were away and if they did come, we only noticed a difference in the ceiling fan blades. They left the dust bunnies under the bed and around the big, pretty picture frames. There were Cheerios under the couch cushions but I guess the cleaning service is in a hurry to prep lots of rooms in little time. The maintenance man stopped by to fix a list of issues that we did not call about so when we said it wasn't us, he walked away happy about cutting his workload short, but I hope he was just playing and that no one's complaint was...
Read moreAfter the second day there I noticed bites all over my body after driving straight from MI to FL.. we did not stop anywhere else. We went to the doctors and they confirmed it was bed bug bites. My fiancé and two children alerted management (Karen) and she switched us rooms to a different building. Karen then offered to wash, dry and fold all of our clothes and put them back in our new room. She told us the exterminator couldn’t come til the following day, and came back 25 minutes later and said they came (at 7:40pm) and didn’t find any sight of bed bugs. We asked for a copy of the report, in which she didn’t have. We had a feeling she was lying since 30 mins before, she said they couldn’t come until the next day. When we got back from dinner that night we had piles of soaking wet clothes scattered throughout our living room. (Heat is the only way to kill bedbugs). When we were walking back towards the office to buy quarters, I found two pairs of my underwear in the parking lot. I have called Karen 17 times for a copy of the report, called Turner exterminator 8 times for a copy of the report and Turner exterminator said they can not release the report without her permission. We wanted to know if we had bed bugs before we got home so we didn’t take them home with us. After continuously calling her, we have yet to receive a report in which she said she would email to us. It has now been 3 months. We didn’t get compensated for anything. This place is a nightmare. Avoid this dump at all costs. The workers chain smoke at all entrances, 1 out of 2 of the pools were heated, and the whole resort is disgusting and dirty. Worst...
