Have wanted to stay at this inn for years. Had high hopes but was really let down by the new ownership. Pool is closed indefinitely. No working wifi in historic building. Was told it has been out for weeks and will not be fixed till some time next month. TV in room did not work either. Phone in room (since there is no cellular service at this location) was broken as well so had to go call from the main building after hours when discovered the A/C remote was missing so the room could not get cooled. After three calls to the after hours attendant, finally got through and was told a guest last week left with the A/C remote. To turn on A/C had to stand on a table to start it manually, but had no control over temp. Keypad lock to front door of building does not actually lock. By the looks of the ground and all the weeds in the flower beds, the new ownership has little care for the property. Felt bad for the staff that they likely have to put up with constant complaints from guests because of ownership's complete lack of the philosophy: you have to spend $ to make $. I would have paid double the price for the night to have had everything working properly. In an age where you can order a new remote and have it overnighted, run a line from the main building with a router to get wifi to guests, pay a maintenance company to care for the grounds and upkeep the pool, it's unfortunate they are letting it all go. How one in good conscience can put the room I stayed in online to rent is remarkable with all of its deficiencies. It should be placed offline till ownership decides to spend a few dollars to provide the basics in...
Read moreMy husband and I enjoyed 3.5 days at the Four Columns Inn immediately following our wedding in November 2017. We were completely blown away by its quaint charm, friendly staff, and cozy vibe.
When we first arrived, we were informed that they had taken it upon themselves to upgrade our room as someone had stayed in the room we reserved the night before with a dog and they were concerned about the smell. 10 bonus points immediately. From there, our stay became even more spectacular. Everyone made us feel at home away from home and offered wonderful recommendations for things to do and see around the area. Special shoutout to Shire at the front desk. We loved her! Plus her name is Shire - pretty cool. It's been said already, but I'll say it again: the food is incredible! Unfortunately, we did not get to try dinner service (so many local restaurants to try), but we had an amazing breakfast at the inn every morning we were there. Scrumptious.
Our upgraded room was fantastic. With a huge fireplace that opened up to a large bathroom, we were extremely cozy and comfortable throughout our stay. We were able to take advantage of other cozy nooks in the inn and enjoy a couple afternoons in the common room downstairs reading and sipping wine.
Also enjoyed a couples massage. I can't remember their names (a male and female), but they were both warm and attentive to our needs. The steam shower at the end in that beautiful bathroom was the cherry on top.
We will definitely be back! Shire, if you read this, thank you for making our...
Read moreNot sure where to start with this experience- I can’t figure out why the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. This place is nothing like it was advertised to be.
The website displayed a room with a full size functional fireplace, a rug and other amenities. We initially arrived to discover the door to our building (“South Newfane” portion of the property) doesn’t close. Upon walking into the room, we noticed the fireplace pictured wasn’t there, and instead a cheap looking fake fire pit was in its place. The bed was hard and creaky. The shower handle didn’t work right, and the hot water lasted for no more than a minute. The shower head itself put out pathetic water pressure. The curtain drawstring was broken.
On top of all that, our neighbors had two kids that were running up and down the stairs slamming the doors since 6AM until past 8AM.
We attempted to contact the phone number given on the welcome sheet, but texts and calls do not go through. We waited until 8AM when the front desk supposedly would open, and nobody answered. We went over to the main building to discover nobody was manning it. This place was advertised as a luxury inn but felt more like a glorified motel.
The only positive part of this experience was that we received a refund for our stay, the breakfast was quite good, and the staff were friendly. For over $300 on a weekend night however, it wasn’t worth it.
Hopefully this review will encourage folks to take their hard-earned...
