I’ve been coming to this store since I was 3 years old, and it’s always held a special place in my heart. With the new owners, I’ve really noticed a positive change. The interior has been updated and there’s a lot of new merchandise. While visiting Newfane this past weekend, I brought my girlfriend to the store for the first time. She absolutely loved it. The service was great, the place was cute, and she even found a few things she wanted to buy. We went back the next morning to order the same breakfast sandwich, but with a simple request: egg whites only. The day before, the staff had no problem making this change. However, this time we were told it wasn’t possible. They said they weren’t willing to separate the yolks, even after we mentioned it was due to a food sensitivity. The excuse was that it was “too busy,” but there were only five people in the store at the time. That response just didn’t make sense. What made the situation worse was how rudely it was handled. The woman at the register, who I believe has face tattoos, was short with us, unprofessional, and dismissive. This isn’t the first time either. On multiple occasions, either myself or members of my family have had rude interactions with her. It’s been a consistent issue. On top of that, her hygiene was concerning. Her fingernails were visibly dirty while she was handling food, which is definitely not something you want to see from someone preparing your breakfast. It’s disappointing because this place has so much potential and has meant a lot to me over the years. Hopefully management sees this and takes action to improve the customer service and food handling practices, because otherwise it really is...
Read moreMy love for the Newfane Store, its proprietor David, and the beautiful staff runs deep. Beyond the exceptional food and products, there is so much community love here. When our beloved pup was dying of cancer and only wanted plain hamburgers, David and his staff would make sure that our pup was taken care of with special orders and perfect burgers (and I mean perfect). When we were caregiving for my father-in-law before he passed, we would drag our weary, hungry bones to the Newfane Store for sandwiches and we would leave smiling, happy, full, and with a basket of food and goodies to take home. Trips here always make life better. The Newfane Store isn’t just a place to get food and necessities (although the food is INSANELY good and the general store items are things you actually need), it’s also a place find community, care, and love. My life would be less without this landmark and without the people who work and shop there. If you’re in the area and don’t stop in, you’re missing out: not only on the BEST FRIES IN VT, but also on some of the best...
Read moreI read the consistently great reviews for The Newfane Store so I decided to stop in on my way to Stratton Mountain. The breakfast sandwich was better than anything I can make at home and far better than the typical fast food drive-through offerings. Store was stocked with food, beer, wine, local crafts and more. Friendly and efficient staff, plenty of parking. I normally don't visit the same place twice, but decided to stop again on my way back from Stratton. I ordered the Banh mi sandwich, surprised it was on the menu, and it was the best I have ever had. The pork belly, pickled veggies, bread - all delicious. I'm looking forward to returning and trying more of their delicious food. I highly recommend The Newfane Store when driving or walking on Route 30 in Vermont. Stop, buy,...
