I saw the tripadvisor reviews for Days Inn, and they were pretty mixed, and all pretty recent, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. It looks like the rooms have been recently redecorated. The paint on the walls was fresh and nice (white with a red accent wall), The headboard had nary a scrath, and the curtains were clean and nice looking. The bathroom was phenomenal. The tile was what I'd like in my house, and the tub and toilet were in great repair. I had a king sized bed (a real king size, not the queens some hotels try to pass off as kings) and a very comfy couch to hang out on. I really liked that there was a desk setup with an electric outlet that was easy to get to on the side of the desk. there was also a free one beside the couch. That's something I see all too rarely, especially nowadays when everyone is carrying a cell phone, a laptop or tablet pc, and various other electronics that need to charge. I was warned at the desk when I checked in that if you get you rooom cleaned while you are staying there, you'll need to leave the bed completely clear or they won't be allowed to make the bed. This wasn't an issue for me, but I saw a complaint about it in another review. I like this...I'd rather not have anyone messing with my personal stuff, you know? Like I said, though, I was told about it when I checked in, so no problems. The young man that checked me in was incredibly nice-very talkative and friendly. He also really impressed me with another thing: I left my driver's license on the counter when I left. I went to the room, looked around, and immediately left again to get supper. A few minutes after I got back, my room phone rang, and the fellow at the desk told me that he would be coming to my door in a few minutes to bring me my license, and he wanted me to know who was at the door. I was impressed that not only did he take the time to call me, but offered to walk it to me as well. I went to the lobby because I wanted a fork for my supper anyway, but I did appreciate the offer, and that he called first. I stay alone often, and it's nice when the employees of a hotel respect that I have to be even more cautious when staying there. Overall, this is a GREAT value at $60 a night. The location is also awesome. It's surrounded by a Hardee's, a Mcdonald's, Wal-Mart, Subway, and a couple of gas stations ("surrounded by" meaning next door or across the street...a very short walking distance), and there's a Sonic, a KFC, and a Taco Bell within a mile of the hotel. There are also several local restaurants nearby, including a killer little Sushi place. I would definitely...
Read moreHad a two night reservation here. They do have wifi, some good tv channels, free breakfast (eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffles). Now apparently there is a husband and wife that owns the place with the help of their son. The wife apparently got mad because my son wasted some coffee and said that he couldn't fix his own breakfast because of it. My son is 12 and cleaned up whatever he wasted, but whatever. The room is decent, nothing spectacular, but did appreciate the fact that they had a mini fridge and microwave in the room. They have a pool, which is one of the reasons that I booked the room, but I was told by the wife that the pool is only open when the kids are out of school. Doesn't make any sense because it's Mississippi and it's hot most of the time, just think it's a way to cut cost on having to maintain the pool. Now, my biggest issue was the towels. I went to the first desk and asked for two face towels, the husband tried to give me a dingy towel, which I told him I wanted a clean one because that looked dirty. Then he comes back and tells me that he's going to charge for extra towels. My response was, so you are penalizing me because I don't want to use the same towels, in which the housekeeper took the used towels, so I'm not understanding what the issue is. And how are these extra towels, you have a choice to have clean fresh towels everyday when they collect the used ones. Anyway, he goes, I'm not going to charge you now, but I'm changing the rules in the future. The stay wasn't horrible, but I doubt that I'll stay there again. Also, if you want to give tips, give them directly to the housekeeper, heard it's some sticky fingers...
Read moreMy husband went up to the lobby to try and get a room for us. He had to call because the door was locked and he told the lady working that he needed a room and that he was outside. The lady went up to the window and told him she had 2 rooms available and my husband said ok I want to look at the room before I pay for it because I want to make sure it’s clean she asked if we had the money to pay for it and he said yes but he wanted to see it before hand she told him no that we don’t get a room and that we could leave. I was sitting in the car the whole time because we have a sick baby. When he came back and told me what was going on I was covered in throw up from my baby getting sick again...so I decided I would call and tell her our situation and see if I could get a room. She answered and I told her my husband just tried to get a room and that we really needed one and she said she had no rooms available although she told my husband she had 2 so I said just tell me how many rooms you have please and she said I’m not going to tell you again I don’t have any goodbye and she hung up. So we were turned away simply because we wanted to see a room before we paid for it and she didn’t even let me explain to her that we had a sick child and we needed to get a room. Terrible terrible person and we will be filing a corporate complaint. She doesn’t even...
