Holiday Inn Express & Suites Parkersburg East by IHG — Hotel in North Hills

As I said it’s far from the worst hotel but for sure not the best. Two nights was 284.00 which is very high for being in the middle of nowhere Parkersburg WV, it’s not like we was staying at the beach, beach front. My room view from the window was another roof top looking at a black top roof and parking lot with a apartment in the back and the blinds wouldn’t even work to open. Carpet needs cleaned badly. Coffee maker in room didn’t work this stay or last stay and hair from another past guest was in the bathroom tub, shower curtain, floor and on a towel I grabbed “clean” to dry off from the shower with. Kinda gross. Breakfast was basic and had to wait on things because they didn’t have enough for the guest. Each day after 11am my card stopped working and I was locked out of my room and the hotel and I had to walk all the way around the hotel with bags of things to go in the front door and wait on a worker to fix it and the day we was leaving we got a call asking if we wanted a late check out and I explained we was running just a few minutes behind but would be out by 11:10am and I was again locked out and had to walk around the hotel and get someone to unlock the room key so I could get two bags I could t carry in my first load. WiFi on my child’s phone cut off everyday at 11am also. WiFi! For paying almost 300.00 for two nights you’d think we wouldn’t have had to go through all this...

Our check in person was not the friendliest but no big deal, I don't need chit chat. We are platinum elite members but she mentioned nothing about getting points or a snack at check in..... So check in gets a 3, she didn't have a name badge on so I'm not sure of her name, but she could have at least smiled. The hotel itself is new and very clean, beds nice, Keurig in room, typical Holiday Inn express. The only working ice machine was in the first floor and when my husband went to get ice he had a mouse run across the hall and into a room. So hotel/cleanliness gets a 3.5. Breakfast... Options were good, two different omelets sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, the normal. Only fruit was bananas. The biscuits were fluffy and I really liked my Western omelet. BUT, WHERE WERE THE CINNAMON ROLLS??????? Honestly we pick our hotel because of the breakfast, first meal of the day and all. My favorite part are the cinnamon rolls. They had these tiny apple filled pastries in the cinnamon roll warmer and they had been there long enough to be hard or maybe the aren't supposed to be in the warmer but whatever they ARE NOT CINNAMON ROLLS!!!! I asked about them and the lady said that's just what they sent her and she's never had that happen before. SOOO, breakfast gets a 1.5, seriously, 1.5 from me because a Holiday Inn Express breakfast includes...
