Where to begin.... The restaurant on the top floor has sub-par service (i.e. forgot to coat buffalo wings in sauce, a lot of items weren't in stock even when restaurant was dead empty, and can't even remember to give you the au jus for the French Dip Sandwich you ordered!) Also besides some of the appetizers and salad the food was very bland WiFi is horrible. Spent 4 hours just trying to get one of my many devices to connect to network. Never even got to the point to enter the login password. I'm sure the bandwidth would be sub-par. 4th floor vending machine sold out, ice machine works. 3rd floor vending machine exact change only but bill reader inop. Ice machine not working due to it not being plugged in (and possibly other issues) 2nd floor- Vending machine works but has different selection from 3rd floor which has the one diet drink you want, ice machine works part of the time. 1st floor Vending and Ice machine both work!! Probably because it's on the main floor and would look bad if they didn't work. (Also has a coffee machine with decaf, regular and hot water. Assumed to work but will find out in the morning) Stairwell smells like a bowling alley/ skate rink. I.e. smells must and like one too many people have been taking their smoke breaks inside.
I'm not usually picky when it comes to hotels and for the most part they usually always seem the same to me, but this is definitely the worst Holiday Inn I've ever stayed in. I'm glad I'm not the one footing the bill otherwise I would have stayed at another hotel much further out of the way if only just to have a working Internet connection so I could get...
Read moreIHG platinum member here, I stay at hotels all across the US each week. This place is the bottom of the barrel. First off, booked my room way in advance...come in after traveling from New York to South Carolina to norton, va. Expecting the mountain hospitality. My room was to be non smoking and I get to and you can smell the cigarettes before you even got to it. Went to front desk to rectify the situation, front office help was nice and accommodating. I get another room, a little irritated at this point. Get to my next room 103 and the door was open with a drunk man cursing with my kids with me. So I go back to the desk again and this time I’m steaming pretty good. We get another room and she walks us to it. Seems ok until we go to sleep and the mildew smell sets in. The cold air coming in under the AC unit mixed with the dripping sound from the AC unit. All in all no extra points offered...not even a complimentary breakfast. If your rooms are this bad there is no way I’m eating your restaurant. Let me say this, next time I come through Norton, Va it won’t be...
Read moreEnjoyed a great experience on a business trip to the Tri-County area while staying at the Holiday Inn in Norton, VA. From the fantastic breakfast, cooked to order each morning, to the extremely clean rooms, attentive service and wonderful southern hospitality at every turn. I can't say enough about Tiffany and the the housekeeping team who helped me recover a pair of very expensive prescription sun glasses that I had left in my room. Not only did they have them set aside and labeled with my name and the dates of my stay, but when I called to see if I indeed had left them there, they confirmed that they had them and were kind enough to ship them to me via air freight clear across the country! I'm quite sure my associates and I will be staying there again when business brings us back to the beautiful Virginia countryside in the future. It's a no-brainer, can't-lose decision to plan your next trip around a stay at the Norton VA...
