Clean rooms, comfy beds, and all the essentials — ideal for families visiting Mystic 🌿 #travel #hotelroom #travelblogger #wheretostay #hotel

So this was my first stay at this location. I'm very particular about where I stay and usually look for 4+ star locations. Cleanliness is a must, good surrounding area, spacious rooms & indoor pool is what I prefer. I was a little weary as the reviews were okay. The location is crammed between another hotel and the Prime restaurant. So not a lot of parking and is smaller than some of the other location near the Casino's. But that's probably not a bad thing because smaller crowds. Checking in was quick & easy the gentlemen at the front desk was professional and courteous; I wish I did get his name. The first floor area was also decent with open seating and a little fireplace. The room was a good size, had a decent model twist and clean. And did have a mini fridge & microwave but were hidden so that was nice I've stayed at other hotels and I hate when it's in a kitchet by the door. I don't smoke but the balcony added some additional space and was nice to be able to get some fresh air when needed.

When I booked my stay at the Courtyard I was hesitant at first about the price, but after staying for 3 nights I’m glad I decided to stay here. From the start Mateo made our stay amazing, by far the most personable host I’ve had at a hotel. If he’s not already a manager he definitely deserves to be. I wish I would’ve brought some cash to leave him a tip. He didn’t hesitate at all with anything we needed & made sure we were comfortable during our stay. I can say I honestly looked forward to seeing him downstairs when I had to make a trip down. I would definitely stay here again. They have free washer & dryers available for guest to use & supply everything needed, the pool is heated perfectly & kept clean. The only downside was breakfast not being included but other then that it was an amazing stay with a nice bistro / bar right inside the hotel

While checking in, the desk clerk gave our room number as 505 and told us to take the elevator to the bottom level. She said the actual number is 005. Having a room in the basement didn't sound appealing to us but we went down there anyway. Once we exited the elevator, we walked past the pool and then, on the left, was the laundry room. I could tell it was the laundry room because of the sign next to the door and the towels spilling out into the hallway. We passed the employee break room which was opposite of the laundry room and proceeded to our room which was adjacent to the break room. We walked into the room and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room. It looked recently remodeled and was very clean and spacious. We decided to stay and started to make ourselves comfortable. As I was walking around the room with my shoes off, my feet started getting wet. About a third or a quarter of the rug was wet. Between wet and damp. Ok, we'll avoid that area of the room and I used the hair dryer to dry my socks. While relaxing before going out, a few things occurred. First, there was a lot of talking out in the hallway. I thought it was a guest of the hotel but it went on for 10 - 15 minutes. I took a peak out the door and there were two employees talking while standing over the pile of towels in the hallway. Arg. We just wanted some quiet after our drive. The second issue we had was the large compressor that was running outside our window. It seemed to rev up for a few minutes, shut off, and then start up again a few minutes later. It didn't bother us a first but quickly became annoying. Well, we left for Mohegan Sun for dinner and a concert. When we came back, the compressor was still running. I approached the night clerk to change the room but there was nothing available. We were stuck. Morning came and, again, voices in the hallway. It was the staff again. I get that co-workers talk to each other but hotel hallway tend to amplify noise. You would think there would be more courtesy in the morning. Our stay was over. We were checking out and I decided to speak to the assistant manager to let him know how our stay was. I explained everything I mentioned above and he promised we would hear from him very soon. We never heard from him or the manager. That was really disappointing. I would never stay on that floor again if I were interested in staying...

Was uncomfortable from the start as did not look like it was kept up and the so called place to get food was closed at 4 :30 pm.Went to room and got dressed and cleaned up.On way to go downstairs from 4th floor the elevator sounded like it was having issues and stopped wherever it was so we had to take stairs down.On way out door while passing which I find out later is the manager and I said it appears the lights are out and she said not in a courteous way we have a power outage. So I take it the lights went out in the town.Come back after being at a concert and passing the front desk the young man I said and I quote"Are the elevators working"He states no they are not working and as I pass I hear laughing to my right of which was the Lady Manager another worker and as I later find out is the GENERAL MANAGER and none of them say a word to us.We walk up 4 flights of stairs and when we get to 4th floor its pitch black and hot.As we were walking down a long hallway 1 step at a time I walk into a metal luggage cart.We get to the room and it's hot and pitch black.I am disgusted as my wife and I who are over 65 years old now cannot stay here and its around 1:30 am.We go back down the four flights of stairs and when I get to the guy at the front desk I state why didn't you tell us the lights were out?He said he forgot or something to that avail.Anyhow those 3 other people were there and the manager came over and my wife said too gher why didn't you tell us the lights were out and I swear to God she says "How do I know what floor your on"That was a sick response from a Manager so I said they need to call someplace else or something to get us a room. She ended up putting us on the third floor which I had no idea there were lights there.I was livid how we were treated and said to her that your sitting there and don't say anything while we are going up in a dark place. Some wise guy yells out from behind me it was just a misunderstanding.I tell him I'm not 20 years old and cannot be running up and down these stairs in the dark so I don't know what he means by misunderstanding.Another clown im thinking only to find out that he's the General manager of the Marriott Courtyard in Norwich Connecticut who goes by the name Zach. What a shame and to think we use the Marriott all over and they always try to push sales of weeks to us like this is some kind of paradise...
