This is an old building undergoing major renovation to both individual units and the exterior superstructure.
The renovation appears to have started several years ago and continues M-F from 8a to 4p. There is significant noise from the work efforts, large vibration, jack hammer, and general work noise.
There is a significant amount of dust at times and the smell of the paint fumes can be bad depending on level of breeze.
The pool is closed M-F until 5p, and you may have to get security to unlock the pool. The pool is not being maintained from a debris perspective, lots of stuff in the bottom and pool is COLD.
The units don't have AirCon, and it is not really needed when you open unit road side facing windows or door. Excellent cross wind most of the time. My unit has ceiling fans which keeps great circulation. However if you have to close up do to noise or smell, unit gets warm and stuffy very fast.
There is significant road noise, as you are right on main road Rt 83. During the day not a major issue, but at night with bedroom on road side and windows open, you hear every car going by. This can be very disturbing. The window needs to be open at night to keep fresh cool air flow.
There is a beautiful beach with soft white sand and easy access from the back green space.
The green space has a number of lounge chairs, not enough for whol building, but people are good about sharing.
There are many miles of beach and park within walking and easy drive, many options and types to choose from.
The local sea life are some turtles and fish, but not in great abundance. Sorkling is relaxing and easy for access and just floating around. Not much shell action, some coral finds and a few other undersea treasures.
Within 5 to 20 minutes you have plenty of food options, several within walking distance. Shrimp, PHO, Thai, Korean BBQ and burgers to name a few.
There are many food truck areas, visit them all and enjoy local eats. I can strongly recommend the Korean BBQ, and Giovanni Shrimp Truck. There are many Shrimp trucks, try them all. Seven Brothers for burgers is good. North shore Taco is good, not great; lime margaritas on ice is very good.
North from complex in Long drug shopping area is a local grocery. Very good pricing, locals shop there. Further up the road is Foodland, larger grocery with more options and higher costs, it seems.
Don't purchase from most fruit stands as they are selling at tourist price. A cold coconut sounds good, but if you want coconut water, purchase in grocery store .
In Summary; the units are nice and comfortable, each one from decore to features is managed by the owner and are typically well maintained; one the building restoration is complete this will be a great...
Read moreMy Husband and I were able to book a one bedroom condo last minute which, we greatly appreciated. Located on the north shore of Oahu, it is an older building with condos that are rented out on several platforms. We made our reservation through the Pats website.
They are currently undergoing construction to refurbish the exterior of the building so, there is construction noise (grinding) going on during daytime hours.
Units are updated by the Individual owner. We fortunately had an updated unit.
There is a portable AC unit to keep it mostly cool but, it is only in the main living room. The bedroom was quite warm. There are fans provided.
Washer and dryer in the unit and it was fully stocked with the kitchen utensils we needed to make meals.
There is a Keurig in the unit so you can buy individual coffee pods.
There was snorkel gear, boogie boards, towels, and other beach accessories available.
My favorite part was sitting on the lanai for sunrise and sunset. Great view of the water and palm trees.
There is beach access off the property which was fabulous. We saw sea turtles come onto the beach in the evening and leave in the mornings. There is a reef break to provide calmer waters for snorkeling.
Parking was very limited (one space per unit) and the spots are quite small. They are also doing construction in the parking area.
Check in was easy, we had a key fob to get into the elevator and they provide carts to schlep your belongings to your room.
There is a basic gym. It opens at 8am to allow guests next to it to have a peaceful morning.
We appreciated that there are several grocery options relatively close by that we didn’t need to drive.
We paid 2k for 6 days which is pretty reasonable for O’ahu standards. I think the price point will go up once construction is done.
It wasn’t anything fancy and the daytime construction was slightly annoying but, nothing to diminish our time there.
We...
Read moreThe building is old and going through exterior renovation. Got to the condo and the patio furniture was in the living room. Lots of dust which we had to clean. Painter scaffolding right outside the patio. We were in #510 and the entire stay there was scaffolding cables and ropes right in front of our view. Furniture was old and lots of rust on anything metal ie: curtain rod, towel rod, TP holder, closet door tracks and rust stains on the frig door. When I opened the frig door it seemed warm. I had brought a thermometer, put it inside for awhile and it was 64 degrees. I turned it to the coldest setting and it varied from 33-46 the entire time. The ice maker did not work.Cockroaches in the bathroom and a 2” one in the kitchen sink. Drapes were old and stained. Bathroom vanities were updated but the base molding was not installed. Inside needs paint and updating. The toilet seat would not stay up, not a big deal for women but annoying to men. A 36” piece of crown molding at the living room ceiling was missing, you could tell there was some ceiling patchwork done probably from upper floor water leaks. We were notified 4 days before we left that there was some jack hammer work going on outside and we could either cancel our stay (which we made 11 months earlier) or receive a discount on the rental. Our bags were already packed and plane tickets purchased, a little late to find somewhere else to stay. I can say the view from the patio was very nice despite...
