Super 8 by Wyndham O'Fallon MO/St. Louis Area — Hotel in O’Fallon

DON'T STAT HERE SAVE YOURSELF & GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! There was cockroachs everywhere, the refrigerator didn't get very cold, the bed was so old you could see it caved in from years of being slept on, bathroom toilet was disgusting, the carpet had a moldy musty smell, the outside of hotel should of gave it away, they kept my deposit saying a broke a leg on a sofa chair that I didn't even sit in (mind you I was the only one there) & when I called about my deposit he was rude & I could tell he was lying & to boot he was trying to charge me for the chair! If I "broke" a chair leg why did they not call me next day or day of check out? I had to call after 2 weeks asking where my refund was & thats when he proceeded to tell me about that chair. So im out $40. I can assure you that owner is a liar & rude. I'm 50 years old & while I was reserving the room I noted I needed a room on 1st floor because I have severe asthma & they don't have a elevator. Well i get there & the owner tells me that they didnt have a king bed room on 1st floor & id habe to be on 2nd floor. So i asked him if he wouldnt mind taking my 1 bag up the stairs for me & he said no he was too busy (no1 was there) He was just sitting there watching T.V. Any way he goes on to say i could stay on 1st floor if i didnt mind a 2 queen bed room so i said "of course i dont mind" i coukd carry my bag up those stairs with my asthma so absolutely i fidnt mind. Well, he said id have to pay an extra $25 because the 2 queen room cost more money!!!! I honestly was shocked & so disappointed. I. Was taken advantage of by charging me more for room & leeping my deposit which i fully believe when i called he had the wrong room & person. If we didnt have to put a star id of given this place none. $70 may not be a lot of $ to most but when youre on disability it is. I have never in my life of traveling stayed at such a horrible hotel or experienced what i did. If you have kids ABSOLUTELY do not stay here because you can smell drugs throughout the halls. I couldn't walk up right for quite a few days because of that bed. The pool was dirty its probably the same pool they've had since opening who knows when. I wouldnt let my dog swim in there. The inside of the hotel had a funky musty/moldy smell as well as the room. Save your $ & stay somewhere else. How this hotel is still open is beyond me. If I could give this place zero stars I would! We were visiting family over the 4th of July weekend and several family members stayed at this Super 8, but we will NEVER stay here again. The biggest issue we had was I had booked a room for my son who was coming later than the rest of us. It was paid for , we were given a receipt with his room number and told all he had to do was check in to get his key. When he went to check in, he was told he did not have a room. He provided the clerk with the receipt which had his room number, confirmation number, etc. She gave him LOTS of attitude and had to call the manager to get him another room as the room he was supposed to have was rented to someone else. HOW can you rent out a room that is already booked and paid for the night?? Plus, she wanted to give him a room that was cheaper than the one we paid for, with no mention of refunding the difference. Ultimately, he did receive a room upgrade (to a "suite" because it had the king bed requested), but really that was the least they could have done. Rooms are in desperate need of updating. It was obvious that there are no cleaning standards here - our room had a layer of DUST on the wooden light enclosure and there was a yellow hair tie (not ours) under the cushion of the chair. A family member staying in a different room had a swimsuit (not theirs) hanging on their bathroom door. Clearly, no one is thoroughly cleaning. The front desk area is behind a glass enclosure (making us question if this a safe area?) and was a messy, cluttered disaster. "Breakfast" was toast, hard-boiled eggs, cereal and Wal-Mart brand mini-honey buns. All in all a big ZERO, certainly not worth your time or money. There are too many other nice, clean hotels with pleasant staff to choose from. To top off the awful experience, upon checkout, the clerk told me I would be receiving a one night credit for all the trouble. When it did not appear on my credit card, I called to ask about the credit. I was told that she thought I was checking out a day early and was going to give me my last night free to stay there. Not sure how that could be true since I obviously checked out and left with my stuff but either way, just adds to the reasons this place is a horrendous...

As soon. As I walked in there was an overpowering smell that can not be explained. The last lady was very kind and helpful. There were multiple cigarette burns on the blanket and bed the desk chair had some kind of white substance that I don't even want to try to figure out what it was. While I was trying to relax and about to go to sleep the customer above us was stomping so loud I thought they were about to come through the ceiling I complained and it was handled. The doors to the rooms don't shut gently so all you hear is slamming doors. I lasted roughly 5 hours even though I wasn't in the room the whole time and by 10:45pm my wife found a cockroach crawling all over the tv. News flash there is no such thing as 1 cockroach where's one there are more where that came from! My wife went straight to the receptionist and told the lady what she found she got her husband and he said he would put us in another room . She then said if it's in our room then it's In the whole building he argued and said "that's not true" then said "your mad what about me I have to treat it for cockroaches now" like it's the customers fault. "If you don't want a room I will refund the money". We packed up and came out to return our cards and the lady "checked" the room and came out and said she didn't find anything. The man tells my wife he will only refund half of it because we were In The room already for a few hours my wife put her two cents in amd he refunded us the whole amount but refused to give us a receipt proving he did refund it completely and said we have to wait two to five days to get our money back.
