A Complete Betrayal of Trust for a Loyal Diamond Member and Valued Customer & Dishonest, Shady, and an Absolute Nightmare with the Parking
As a loyal Hilton Diamond member, I expected much better from Zachari Dunes. My family and I chose this property for a significant occasion—an anniversary celebration where we spent over $25,000 on a family function. Despite our loyalty and substantial patronage, we were treated with utter disregard and negligence when an issue arose.
On September 15, I entrusted my $150,000 Range Rover to the hotel’s valet service. The car was inspected upon arrival, with no marks or damage noted. However, when I picked it up, it was clear that the valet had caused significant damage to the rear door, as if it had been backed into something.
What followed was an infuriating game of blame-shifting. Hilton management quickly washed their hands of the situation, claiming the valet service was managed by LAZ Parking. I was forced to deal directly with them. Initially, LAZ Parking admitted responsibility and assured me the damage would be resolved. I followed their instructions, got a repair quote from a body shop, and provided before-and-after photos proving the car was pristine before it was handed over.
Despite this, their insurance team reversed course, falsely claiming the damage couldn’t have happened under their care and that the valet attendant didn’t properly inspect the car. Their dishonesty is appalling, especially in the face of undeniable evidence. In the end, I was left with a $7,000 repair bill, while their insurance offered an insulting $1,000 payout.
Even more disgraceful was Hilton’s complete lack of support. Not only did they fail to hold their valet partner accountable, but they also didn’t offer so much as a comped room for the distress caused. This is how Hilton treats a loyal Diamond member who chose their property for a family event—after spending over $25,000 on their services?
This experience has shattered my trust in Hilton. Passing blame to third parties while leaving loyal customers to shoulder the burden of negligence is unacceptable. I’m pursuing legal action, but I must warn others: do not trust this property or its valet service. Hilton failed me, and they’ll fail you too.
Secondly, for LAZ Parking,
If I could give zero stars, I would. On September 15, I entrusted my $150,000 Range Rover to LAZ Parking’s valet at the Hilton Zachari Dunes, expecting a professional and careful service. Instead, I received my car back with major damage to the rear door, suggesting it had been backed into something.
Initially, LAZ Parking admitted responsibility and promised they would handle everything. Following their instructions, I took the car to a body shop, provided a repair quote, and submitted before-and-after photos that clearly showed my car was pristine when handed to them. But once their insurance team got involved, they completely backtracked, claiming their valet hadn’t caused the damage and that the attendant didn’t perform a proper inspection when I dropped off the car.
This is an outright lie. I provided photographic proof showing my car had no damage before their valet took possession. Yet they ignored the evidence and insulted me with a $1,000 payout for a $7,000 repair bill. LAZ Parking operates with zero accountability, leaving customers stranded and frustrated while they hide behind shady insurance practices and false claims.
If you care about your vehicle, do not trust LAZ Parking. Their employees are reckless, their claims team is dishonest, and their entire operation is a liability. I’m pursuing legal action, and I hope this serves as a warning: protect yourself and avoid this company...
Read moreI NEVER LEAVE REVIEWS but my family's experience was so disappointing that I have to share.
This is my family's second visit to Zachari Dunes, and we were excited to visit because we had a wonderful experience our first stay during the winter. We brought my mother and father in law to celebrate my mother in laws birthday and sadly it did not meet our expectations and we will not be back.
The hotel has the façade of a want to be luxury hotel with many many missteps, most notably in customer service and hotel upkeep. The lobby is new and the interior of the lobby is beautiful but the actual hotel rooms, walkways, elevators and public spaces are very unkempt and dingy. The ambience is as if the hotel is attempting to exude a top tier experience but with the vibe of a very common place hotel, with exorbitant prices. I could have stayed at true 5 star hotel for the price of this hotel.
We checked into the hotel slightly after 4 pm on a Sunday and were told our rooms were not ready, even though check in is at 4pm. We noticed many other guests waiting around for their rooms as well. Due to the "inconvenience," we were waived the resort fee. It didn't stop there, when we got to our room the air conditioner was broken. Our room was located next to an area that constant smelled like natural gas. We had asked for a pack and play for our daughter 3 times. We called the hotel before our arrival to make sure we got a pack and play. We reminded them when we checked in, and when we got to the room no pack and play. At dinner we requested a pack and play again and we didn't receive it till an hour after our daughters bed time.
We tried calling customer service several times to address the broken air conditioning as well as a clogged shower drain. It took us about 7 attempts to finally reach someone to help us. They did not get the air conditioner fixed but luckily it was cool enough outside to get the ocean breeze. We also didn't get any bed sheets for the pull out bed.
Ox and Ocean was also very disappointing. There are virtually no other food choices located close to the hotel. On our second day my husband, son and I opted for lunch at Ox and Ocean, which was virtually empty at the time. The waitress sat immediately and took our order. Took 30+ minutes to get our food and she messed up my order as I ordered GRILLED fish tacos, which is stated as on option on the menu. I saw a huge plate of fried fish tacos and told her I didn't order that. She told me that they don't have grilled fish tacos and I told her that on the menu it says "GRILLED OPTION available." I then ordered something else because we had already waited 40 minutes, only to never receive my food for another 20 minutes (I ordered an avocado toast because I thought, How long could that take to make). Apparently it takes 30 minutes to make. So I just left.
The hotel is drastically understaffed. Everyone that works at the hotel looks like they are college or high school aged, which wouldn't be a problem if we felt like we had good customer care. Staff was rude and dismissive and almost entitled.
The beach: Although beautiful, is covered in Tar. My kids shoes and feet were covered in tar upon returning to the hotel. I can see why the beach is relatively empty.
You can tell that this hotel does not care about its customer experience as they are not doing any basic thing to improve customer experience and perception. They definitely need a...
Read moreWe tried to be here for a nice anniversary/babymoon weekend getaway. When we arrived we thought it would be a lovely stay. The lobby is pretty and well-renovated, the rooms are spacious and the ocean-view side has lovely patios looking at the beach.||HOWEVER, the hotel is advertised as a resort which is why the fees are quite expensive for the state of the property. There were many little things that we noticed that just don't match up to paying $700-800/night. The toilets don't flush well and are loose, the shower water pressure is meh, the carpets are old, the doors are old and the rooms have gaps between the doors and the floors as the thresholds were not replaced after renovating the floors so wind comes through under the door and you can hear everything from the hallway, the couches were spotted and stained and felt dirty.||Overall it would have been a nice stay even with lots of little funky things we noticed.||The hotel was overbooked with multiple events going on, so the restaurant was super slow and the waiters were all running around like crazy and unable to get food out on time.||When we got to our room the first night we were planning on settling in for the night. But while I was sitting on the bed I kept feeling ANTS crawling up my arm. I kept flicking them off and they kept reappearing, so I got up and looked at the side of the bed. There was a complete army of ants crawling up the side table from the wall, around the table, back down to the floor and under/behind the bed....this was at 10pm.|We immediately called the front desk for help. They sent up one maintenance person with a rag to wipe the ants, which immediately repopulated their line. He said there was nothing he could do. The front desk said they couldn't do anything because they were at capacity and couldn't move our room. The front desk manager said there was nothing she could do.....|No apologies, no offering for a free stay for having an inhospitable room with ants in the bed and bedroom, no offer of free meals or points or anything...after an hour and a half of going back and forth with the manager she offered 50% and to waive the cancellation fee since we said we couldn't stay in a bug-infested room all weekend as the ants were crawling on us in the bed. We decided we had to leave since there was nothing they were going to help us with. So at MIDNIGHT we had to vacate and drive all the way back home.||I kept telling them this is our anniversary, I'm 6 months pregnant....nothing.||Eventually, with lots of prodding, I convinced them to not charge us for the stay we couldn't have, but I just couldn't believe they were so unaccommodating, unhelpful, unsympathetic to the situation.|When we got home, we called corporate the next day and they were similarly strangely unhelpful.||Untrained staff, and poor customer service are now the Hilton way.|We will be doing our best to avoid Hiltons and Hilton-branded places in the future.|This was just an insane experience and we were extremely disappointed and upset.|It is a nice location right on the beach in Oxnard, so it would have been a great place to frequent for a weekend, but this just made us feel so utterly terrible. We were so looking forward to a nice...
