So after a very long day of business travel, and needing a place with comfort food but being late, I found masala twist.
It's kind of out of the way which was a little inconvenient, but it was worth searching. Walking in the door, it's a nicely appointed smaller joint. I was quickly seated at my table and grabbed a menu to order. There's much on the menu I recognize, and a few things I didn't.
I order some vegetarian curry, I grabbed a naan with spinach and cheese, and I grabbed lamb meat samosa.
The samosas came out first and my first bite was like wow, incredible.
I ate that quickly and the curry and naan came out. I finished one samosa and did not want to ruin my appetite with a second. So I jumped on the curry and naan on and left the second samosa on the side.
First bite of curry, wonderful. Second and third bite of Curry, amazing. I grabbed the spinach and cheese naan, wow, that's yummy. I knew I ordered too much after the third bite of nan, but who cares? This was good food.
I continued to gorge until I was stuffed. I actually couldn't quite finish the meal, but the wonderful mango lassi helped me drink it down and tasted wonderful to boot.
All in all this is a great Indian food experience. The help was good, not particularly attentive, but also not bad.
At the end of my fabulous meal I asked myself, would I go back again? The answer is a definite yes. The challenges I don't live anywhere close. So we'll see.
But hit it my friends, you'll be glad...
Read moreWe were in a road trip in SoCa- were famished & missing Indian food (comfort food) Lucked upon this gem of a place on Google (it din’t show up when we were a distance away but as we neared Oxnard it popped up suddenly) The food is authentic Punjabi style & really tasty. Being vegetarians we can’t vouch for the non veg stuff but the dishes we ordered were really yummy….. each had a different taste (not the same masala used with various additions) We got Paneer Tikka Masala( smoky flavor) , Kadhi pakora( yoghurt base) & Malai Kofta (cream base) - variety of ‘zaikas’ The food took a while to come out but they explained that it is being prepared right now. The nans were fresh- both crispy & soft at the same time. Little things like using fresh garlic on the garlic nan , serving beer in a chilled mug- these nuances make a difference. As u can probably tell , we are a bit fussy with food (don’t approve easily) but this place satisfied us completely. A suggestion- they could go easy on the food coloring they use. I took off one star as the housemade Kulfi was not upto the mark - icy & hard- bright green in color - though they did use real pistachios. The prices are very reasonable for it being CA & also the location - the patio overlooks the water ( harbor view- not the beach) I would definitely visit again when I am...
Read moreBack after two years, portion have reduced by a bit. Just ordered chicken Tikka masala and aloo samosa, wasn't supposed to come with rice but they included a small container of rice which was nice. Seems like buffet has been discontinued indefinitely . . . Edit based on a visit on 5/30/20, called in for pickup order, can't believe they include harbor fee 3.5% even when you don't dine-in!! Location is nice and all but why do we customer have to pay for it? . . . Great location, right next to the water, the staff were all very nice, food was good. Here for a small birthday celebration on Sat evening - 6 adult and 3 babies, took us a while to get our order in and took a while for them to prepare them but they coordinated to have all our food out at the same time which was nice. Food were delicious but weird that the entrees don't include rice or naan and have to be ordered separately. There were more gravy than protein which was disappointing. We ordered shrimp, chicken, lamb with Tikka masala, butter Curry and korma, they were all good. Will be back to try their lunch buffet which we've heard good reviews Oh we also brought a cake and they were nice to let...
