Our RV travel trailer broke down about 1/2 mile down the street from Shoshone RV Park while we were on our way to Furnace Creek campground in Death Valley National Park. We pulled in and hoped they'd have room for us for a few days. Debbie was so nice and accommodating, giving us a pull through site since our trailer was not moving well at all. There is no cell service in Shoshone and Debbie and her wonderful workampers Sam and Terri let us use the office phone to speak with a repair shop a few times so we could coordinate repairs. We were pleasantly surprised to be "stuck" in the desert with full hookups, a delightful warm spring pool, free wifi that actually worked and a pretty nature trail right in the park. The office even had a library of DVDs for people to borrow while they're staying at the park. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Everyone was so nice and friendly. We were able to take a day and check out Death Valley National Park and saw the campground where we originally planned to stay. Shoshone RV Park was DEFINITELY a happy accident. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it to others. Thank you for making it actually pleasurable to be broken down...
Read moreCustomer service leaves a lot to be desired. You can't check in before 1, which is normal, but the office doesn't even open til 1. So you can't even ask if it's okay. Even if your site is paid for and available. There's supposedly a key for the bathrooms and pool, but we were never given a key. The bathroom was clean, but run down. The floors are slippery. There's only 1 shower stall with a soggy bath mat in front of it. The stall door to the shower stall and toilet stalls were a little on the small side. You can look at someone over the door while getting out of the shower. I just used my tiny camper shower instead. There's no cell service, and their wifi is spotty. The site was clean and relatively level and the whole campground seemed clean. Also, "BR" on the map, by space 35, is not a bathroom. They didn't bother to tell us what it meant or have anything on the map to tell you either, but it's either a mobile home you can rent, or someone's home. The only restaurant in town closes at 6. That's if they even open at all. The only gas station in town is also pretty sad. You're better off...
Read moreNice park with lots of amenities - showers, toilets, wifi. There's even a little trail where you can explore the wetlands habitat that borders the park. Didn't have too much trouble with bugs even though we were right next to a steam. Bullfrogs at night might keep you up, but the sounds are pretty cool to listen to. We were a large group and one of the owners was really rude about quiet hours. About 10minutes before quiet hours we were literally told to "shut up" or we'd be kicked out which was astonishing because we were not being obnoxious in our volume level nor were even given a warning that quiet hours were in 10 minutes. Our group was going to go to be in bed at 10pm anyways but it was just flat out rude to approach us like that. The lady that was the owner was very nice when she greeted us and very fair in her rules - even tho she had some bad experiences with previous groups she gave us a fair shake. Overall a nice spot - wouldn't camp here in the summer tho cus it will be...
