In September, 2022 we were heading to Northern CA from south of Palm Desert and bone tired. We have always enjoyed the Holiday Inn Express brand and were thrilled to find that there was this new HIE (opened in late 2021) hotel near the Freeway (I-10) right at Cook St. It is simply wonderful! From the front desk staff to the cleanliness and attractiveness of the property, all gets 5 Stars - and I would give more if it were possible!
We were checked in by Mark Scheirer who was the nicest front desk person we have had in a long time! Mark is welcoming, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This is such a new property he explained many of the new features and benefits available; and specifically a neat feature in the rooms to use your room key once inside and it keeps the AC on as long as you want (as opposed to the older hotels where AC shuts down not long after you go to sleep!). The bed was heaven and the pillows top notch. My husband likes firm and I like soft pillows and they had a selection available on the bed which included both! There is a refrigerator under the coffee bar counter and very handy to keep our snacks and sodas cold. There is also a microwave and a safe in the closet.
The rooms are spacious, light, clean and bright, with room darkening shades in addition to regular which was appreciated with the Desert sun! The bathroom is large and very well laid out with make-up lights built into the vanity mirror - very handy plus a large shower. The hotel is so well built and quiet, you would never know how close and convenient the freeway is and/or you can go straight up Cook St and find yourself on Hwy 111 in the heart of Indian Wells-Palm Desert. It's a terrific location.
The convenience of HIE's complimentary breakfast with their "famous" cinnamon rolls is right off the lobby in a beautiful room where later in the day you can lounge, use for business and/or just relax.
We had to check out the next morning after arriving but we enjoyed the hotel so much we stayed again in October of 2022!
On another note, when we checked out, we were being well taken care of by "Jenni E" (who was a sweetheart) and we were getting ready to leave, when Mark Scheirer, who had checked us in the night before, came into view at front desk after taking care of another guest. He made a specific point to ask about our stay and make sure we were happy with everything. Rarely have we felt like such royalty when checking out. These two people are such good ambassadors for the hotel I just had to...
Read moreFrom the parking lot to the check in what a joy. This hotel knows how to treat clientele. Perfect representation of the IHG ideals. Smiles are abundant. The staff is engaging and enjoy working together. The hotel itself is impeccable by cleaning standards. Decor is warm and inviting and personal touches show the owners really value their business, it's not just a show pony or money maker. The vibe emits that these owners and their wonderful staff genuinely care about their guests. That is a rare amenity in these times. I will update after breakfast but I would rate 10 stars out of 5. I found a new go to. The ease, the cleanliness that still evokes comfort not hospital stay. That is important for guests especially who have children or a handicapped son. Thank you Millenium for a wonderful first time experience at your hotel. I will post another review after breakfast. I highly endorse and recommend this hotel. Though further away from the hub of palm desert, food and shops are abundant in the area and traveling to any location in the valley is easy from here. When in town, consider these wonderful owners of a beautiful holiday inn. This is not your mama's Holiday Inn, but mama would be happy you selected this hotel. This mama certainly is. The area is great for young and old, single or committed, business or pleasure. Kudos to the lovely owners and staff. UPDATE: Stayed through the weekend. My opinion has not changed. Lovely Inn and awesome staff. Breakfast is one of the best I have seen at any Holiday Inn. Alex the Breakfast Cook is enthusiastic and full of smiles. I really enjoy seeing the staff is permitted to enjoy breakfast and mingle among the guests. This only reinforces the vibe of what an Inn was and should be. My only small issue is for the first time in over 26 years of hotel stays we received a noise complaint at 10:02 pm for a person laughing...on a Saturday night in a hotel? First time in my life and a bit of a sore point. That won't sour my opinion of the hotel. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GIVING IT A TRY ON YOUR NEXT VISIT TO THE DESERT. Thanks again to the staff and owners of...
