This appeared to be a privately owned and run hotel that, at least during our stay, was run on an "on-call" basis. A phone number is posted for you to call if you need some type of in-person assistance, but we did not see anyone up at the front desk any of the times that we walked through the lobby area. It was not what I was expecting, but now that I know how it works, it went well enough that I would consider staying again. I gave it 4/5 stars due to the inconvenience of having to call to get assistance, unlike other hotels. It is possible, though, that the owners were busy cleaning vacated rooms?
The beds seemed to be quite small, either double or full size, not queen, but they were very comfy. All aspects of the room were on the small size, but it worked just fine for our needs. The only thing off-putting about the room was an odd smell just inside the door. We couldn't quite identify it, but it hit you as you came into the room. You didn't really smell it, though, once you were in the room with the air on, so it didn't ultimately affect us.
The continental breakfast was simple, but had several options; donuts from KwikTrip, bagels (cream cheese and butter), mini muffins, a toast making station (raisin bread and plain bread, butter, peanut butter, and two types of jelly), yogurt (strawberry banana), cereal (bran flakes and corn flakes?), milk, juice (apple and orange), coffee, and hot cocoa.
The room appeared to be clean upon arrival. Like in other comments, we also saw signs posted about no housekeeping options for people staying multiple nights due to Covid. They were directed to put towels and linens into trash bags and place in hallway, but we didn't see trash bags. You would likely have to request those? The beds were a tight fit, but comfortable, and the hotel was very quiet at night. This hotel seemed to be quite popular, as the parking lot was packed when we arrived and cleared out by the time we checked...
Read moreThis place is easily spotted from the road and is located near a very nice family resturaunt, two super markets, gas station and a McDonalds. The rooms and building are relatively clean and the rooms have your basic needs with a personal coffee maker and mini fridge. The continental breakfast in the main lobby area consists of two differnt cereal choices, make your own waffle station, coffee, muffins and other carbs but no sign of any proteins besides the milk they provide for the cereal, cream cheese for bagels and butter for toast. The service was good, they turned down my room very nicley, quickly and did it without interrupting anyone and the staff members were welcoming and nice. Bring your own handwash, body soap and shampoo, their products will dry you to the point of flaking. The things that take this place from an all around nice roadside 5-star place is the experience while trying to sleep and the obvious half hearted fixes/paint jobs around the building. The bed my girlfriend and I slept in was forcing us both to the center and sandwitching us in an uncomfortable sweaty mass. The wall mounted heater was either delivering way too much heat or not enough at all so throughout the night you would go from sweating to freezing and regardless of the delivery temp the air was always very dry causing nose irritation, sinus backups and sore throats for everyone...
Read moreBare bones and affordable. TV's are pretty small, but hey....they are still TV's. The rooms are nice and clean. Queen size beds are really doubles. That's okay, not going to be too picky for the price. The property is kept clean outside, and inside. They don't seem to use AC when it's hot in the main building, but I can understand that if you're needing to stay in a budget, given this location is a little off the beaten path. The only reason I reduced stars in my review (would've been 4) is the check in clerk. He asked my wife if she was checking in with a dog. He continued to ask her repeatedly about "are you sure", and "your neighbors will be upset if they hear a barking dog". We didn't have a dog on our trip, nor was there any logical reason for this to be in question. There wasn't any dogs outside, nor did I hear any bark when I was waiting for our room. I felt his questioning on a repeated bases undermined our honesty, and was very rude. I hope the management of this location can ask the question once, take the answer at face value, and proceed with booking in a more polite and courteous manner. I would come back, but if I was treated the same way again, I would abort booking and drive an hour to sleep...
