I will preface this by saying I rarely have a reason to leave negative reviews but at this particular hotel my husband and I were treated very rudely. ||There were only a few vehicles in the parking lot when we arrived at the Hampton Inn in Mineral Wells, a few minutes before 3:00 on Sunday April 23rd. Obviously not a busy time. When we entered the building we were the only quests in the lobby. We approached the front desk to inquire about our reservation, which I had made through the Hilton Honors App, and although my husband and I were speaking to each other as we walked up, the receptionist did not bother to look up nor acknowledge us in any way (I was told later that her name is Cheyenna (sp?). We're easy-going people, not impatient so we stood there for several minutes, waiting patiently. After a while she got up and walked over and sat down at another location at the front desk, still not looking up or acknowledging us, even though by this time we had cleared our throats to get her attention and were beginning to feel uncomfortable. Finally, she looked up with what I can only describe as an annoyed expression and said, “yes?”, no smile, no greeting, no apology for keeping us waiting, nothing whatsoever. I said we had a reservation for 3:00 (at this point it is already past the hour) and gave her my name. She said she didn’t have a room ready for us. Now, keep in mind the parking lot was almost empty and we were the only people in the lobby. I explained that I had made the reservation through the Hilton Honors app for a 3:00 checkin-in and I had a confirmation number. Her response was, “Well no one told us!” She said it would be about 20 minutes before a room would be ready. To say we felt very much as if we were a big inconvenience is an understatement. Perhaps it was close to shift change and she was inpatient to leave but there should be no excuse to treat anyone so rudely. On a positive note our room was clean although it felt a bit worn. I think this is probably an older hotel property and in need of updating. Breakfast was good, as it usually is at Hampton Inns.||We almost exclusively stay at Hilton properties when we are traveling, usually Hampton Inns because we know what we can expect but unfortunately this particular hotel fell far short of what we normally experience from a Hilton property, thanks to the extremely rude front desk...
Read moreI want to thank Hampton Inn for truly supporting their veterans and showing compassion when it was needed. I went to this hotel in the middle of a state of panic. I'm a military veteran with military related PTSD, and I had a nightmare that triggered a flashback. I have a thing I do to help me get through those moments, and part of that is I take a shower. I honestly struggle coming back without that. So mid-flashback, I go to take a shower, and my water wasn't working at my house. Water department was already closed. I got a hotel room just to get a shower. The front desk lady was super nice, and I found her personality calming. She was very empathetic and comforting. She gave me a little favor to get my room faster because of my situation. It's funny, people thank me for my service all the time envisioning me sitting in some hole in the ground getting bombed and shot at for their freedom, but here I was metaphorically sitting in that hole in the ground in my own brain, and the lady at the front desk of The Hampton Inn in Mineral Wells, WV is who pulled me out of that hole into safety with her super power of awesome customer service. The manager was also super supportive, and it was more than obvious the lady at the front desk learned her amazing customer service skills from the manager. In addition, the pool was clean, refreshing, and the kids loved it. My sister worked in hotels as general manager, so I'm kind of trained to know a good hotel from the bad ones, and I can tell you this place was one of the cleanest I've seen. The room was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The overall ambiance was very...
Read moreCouples things kept this Hilton hotel from reaching a 5 star rating. I stay at Hilton’s throughout the US and this time I used points to pay as it was for pleasure and not business.
There was a sign on pool that said it was closed at 7:00pm, went out later kids were in pool at 9:00pm - I suggest moving sign off door until pool is actually closed.
TV - TV had no source/cable when I turned on - went to front desk, lady got master remote went to my room and reset. Easy fix but inconvenience.
Loud outside activity as my room was by outside door, and person above us was walking stomping periodically throughout night.
My digital key card was deactivated prior to checkout. Could not access doors or my hotel room had to have card made at lobby desk to enter room prior to packing to leave.
Breakfast was stop at 9:15am on Sunday. Usually hours are 6-9am Monday through Friday and 7-10am on the weekends. I settled for bread and butter for breakfast.
Attitude of staff, staff seem grumpy/on edge when I guest has a question or complaint. But are quick to...
