I would like to give this hotel 2.5 stars but it doesn’t allow half stars. 3 stars is high.
The only reason for 2.5 starts instead of the minimum 1, is because of the lady in the morning that was getting the breakfast ready. She was the nicest/sweetest person.
Now for the rest. We started going to the hotel over a year ago. My daughter was getting married near by (less than 10mins away from this hotel).
Our first time here we liked the staff, Cracker Barrel,& the pizza place being in the same parking lot and of course how close it is the wedding venue.
When we got back home, I called to get a block of rooms. I spoke with someone that told me to call the next day because Ashley (the manager) will be there and she can take care of that. So, when I called the next day and spoke with Ashley, she told me everything was taken care of and all 20 rooms would be at a discounted price, and if all 20 rooms are booked, the bride and grooms room would be free.
Fast forward to a month before the wedding. My daughter and her fiancee stayed at this hotel so they could get their marriage licenses. Before they left she asked the front desk how many rooms were booked out of the block and they said all “10” were booked. First of all “all 10” makes no sense, since I blocked 20. Second, I knew we had at least 14 booked at that time. So I called back a few days later, and the person I spoke with told me, “all 30 rooms are booked”. WHAT??? So then I said the bride and grooms room is free then, and she said I don’t know who told you that because that’s wrong. I told her Ashley the manager.
A few days went by and we called back to speak with Ashley. We were told Ashley was at hotel convention but she said to give us their room at an even lower rate. 2 days before we got down there, we called again trying to speak with Ashley. That’s when we were told Ashley doesn’t work for the hotel anymore, but they are going to honor the extra discounted price.
Then we get there for the wedding. There were a bunch of issues while we were there. The wedding party was there for 3 nights, most people were there for 2 nights. My room and my other daughter’s room were changed full price. 2 other rooms I paid for were there for 2 nights but they tried to charge me 3 nights (they fixed this one fairly quickly). The hot tub wasn’t working, everyone’s key cards kept clearing and we had to keep going to the front desk to get new ones. The bride was in shower and the water started flooding her grandmothers room under her.
Then for the big kicker… check out day…. As my wife and I were walking by, we over heard to employees talking about something non related to us, but he said, “ that’s an Ashley issue, she can deal with that when she comes in” ASHLEY??? I thought she didn’t work here anymore???
A week after being home, I call to figure out why I was charged so much more than what I was supposed to (she did fix the issue and refund the extra I was charged). But the person that answered the phone was Ashley.. so I started explaining everything from the beginning and she stopped me and said that was a different Ashley and she didn’t have the authority to make those calls.
Well first and second Ashley sounded exactly the same on the phone. First Ashley along with everyone else I spoke with called her the manager. I can only assume the manager can make those calls.
After all that, I would highly recommend staying at another hotel. There is another in the same...
Read moreSuper, super nice staff! Very homelike attitudes, friendly, accommodating, and attentive to their guests. We enjoyed the breakfast huge selection, sausages, bacon, omelets, with cinnamon hot rolls absolutely the best! Cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, juices, yogurts....excellently kept clean and stocked.
The pool and spa are very nice after a long trip!
update June 2025
Not as recommended as the first time. Breakfast was shared with waaaaaay too many people, drinking beer party in the parking lot on night one, pool and breakfast area was not well attended and sloppy.
Night 2, wonderful visit with baseball youth mania overwhelming the parking lot and about 40 unattended children flocking the pool with parents half in the bag drinking poolside. Not recommended for people traveling with young children. Topped off by a wonderful parking lot welcome from 3 of Wood counties sheriff deputies finest to answer disturbance calls all over the hotel. The Saturday night frat house atmosphere with kids running the halls at 11:30 at night was such a treat for the money paid.
Bathroom door broken, towel hooks falling off the door. Desk staff was very friendly and doing what they could amidst the chaos. However, for the money spent to be wasted on worrying about your car being destroyed or burned in the parking lot riots of June 7th at Mineral Wells, I can't give a better review.
If you are staying 1 night and don't mind an unclean pool, no towels for the pool, overwhelming odds of beer parties in the parking lot and general chaos at an overly moderate price, this is your place.
As we have family here, we will look at alternate arrangements for future visits.
Good luck, get your tetanus shot...
Read moreThe room was clean and even had that sanitized smell. The bed was comfortable and pillows/blankets/sheets were clean and extremely comfortable. The pool was wonderful and my son thoroughly enjoyed himself. Breakfast was hot and waiting on me when I walked out at 7 am.
But what made this stay exceed my expectations was the staff. We had the bad luck of someone destroying the original room I reserved to the point it required repairs. I received a call in advance from the staff telling me what had happened and offering me the next option. They went above and beyond by providing us with a gift card to Cracker Barrel located next door that comped our meal there.
When we checked in, the lady at the front desk remembered me and was extremely welcoming and friendly. She helped immediately when my cell phone deactivated my key card (whoops). Our neighbors were extremely loud and rude, slamming doors, banging on the wall. I mentioned it as I went outside at about 11:30 pm. The wonderful woman up front offered to put us in another room, but my son and husband were asleep so I declined. She stated she would keep her ears open to anymore additional noise. Shortly after going back to the room, I heard one more bang from the neighbors and suddenly it died down, so I presume something was said to them about it. I can’t thank the staff here enough for going above and beyond.
Any hotel can be clean and tidy, but your staff is what keeps people coming back. We will definitely choose here the next time we...
