After booking this hotel from a suggestion from someone who lived in Dubuque there was many problems. I should have read the reviews. HUGE MISTAKE! The pool was closed and after reading the reviews I learned the pool has been closed for at least 2 months. They told us someone was coming to fix the pool. Doubt it if it's been going on for 2 months. They do not tell you this when you book the reservation. The purpose for coming to the hotel was for a team to bond and have fun. So when we just got back from our tournament the boys were told at 8:15 by a badly odor man to be quiet. The workers told us they had a complaint but we agreed to not go in the basement so that man could have it quiet at 8:15 on a Saturday night. The lobby fireplace did not work. I was told it was one of those fireplaces just "for looks". You mean it was broke and no one was going to fix it? The lobby and rooms had been remodeled so I was hoping this hotel would be ok if we made the best of it. I had a leak in our sink MAJOR LEAK . When I discovered it I was too tired to switch rooms so again "making do". It was about 11 pm. When I went to bed I unrolled the covers on my bed and seen a stain on bedsheet and a long black hair that was not mine. So I wasn't sure if they changed the sheets for a new customer. Again exhausted so went to bed hoping not to pick up any disease. In the morning I tried to take a shower. No HOT WATER! If I turned the water towards the COLD direction I BARELY got luke warm water. The WIFi did not work so did not make the kids happy. The breakfast had very HARD biscuits for gravy . There was cream cheese but no bagels. toast but only jelly and butter. The 2 choices of cereal was not kid friendly some flake cereal and cheerios. No sweet biscuits . No eggs. The heat in the room is old hard to regulate no thermastat control. My window was making a funny noise at night when the wind blew because it was not sealed and needed repaired also. WARNING; don't stay here! To the response from the hotel: It is never my intention to want to make anyone feel bad . You was very nice . I just want people to be informed that you should inform people the pool is under maintenance . The pool has been under maintenance for 15 months if you read all the reviews it goes back that far. I appreciate your offer to change rooms for a leaky sink but it was 1100 pm when I discovered it and thought I could deal with it and would just use the bathroom as a sink. I did not want to move that late at night as I was already settled. Then when I get ready for bed at midnight again very tired I discover a stain in my bed and a hair that was definitely not my color on the inside of the bed on the bottom sheet and I hadn't been in the bed yet. The kids said they was staying out of the basement and we were unaware if they was bothering anyone after that. I'm sorry if the kids were too loud you should have told us and we would have said something to them. Most everyone was gone by 1000 and most of us was in the lobby . I understand that it's part of running a business and things break but in the morning but I couldn't even take a shower after being in what I felt was an unclean bed. The water was barely luke warm and the only way I could get that was by turning the knob the opposite way it should go to warm up the water. I wish you well in your maintaince issues . Just be honest with people when they make reservations and tell them the pool isn't working. Maybe you should list it as in maintaince since this has been going on for about 15 months according to your reviews. I realize pools are expensive to fix and can take awhile to be repaired. If your upfront about the pool and keep the bedsheets clean I'm sure your reviews will get better. I may have just got a bad room with the sink leaking and the bathtub not working properly with luke warm water and the tub knobs working backwards. The lobby is beautiful and rooms look great on the outside it just needs a work in the areas mentioned above. I wish you well and good luck in your future...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNobody call the fire department for this dumpster fire, just needs to burn down. This hotel missed out on probably the last 5 remodel. All damage that has been "repaired" is still visible because they were halfass repairs. Such as changing bolted shower rods for the twist rods, but leaving the bolt holes unrepaired allowing for moisture into the bathroom walls and mold growth. The vanity light was changed to a smaller light, but the old holes weren't repaired and no paint was used where the old fixture was. Rust was all over metal fixtures and door frames in the bathroom. Bathrrom door had the inner foam coming out cause the door rubbed on the frame, causing a foam mess everytime the door was used. Carpeting was fraying at the main door. On the first night, there was a loud bang from the fridge. It was a huge ice block falling from the top. The fridge decided to stop working and was leaking water. I called the front desk and they told me to lugg the fridge out to the hallway.
Booked for six nights, checked out after night 2. We really tried to stay, but after 2 nights, couldn't handle it any longer. We usually can go with the flow and look past shortcomings in hotels. Usually just need a clean and safe place to lay our heads.
The first floor (including our room) smells musty and dingy. Bought 2 glade plugins to make the room smell bearable, but most of the outlets were so worn out, the plugins wouldn't stay plugged in. They have several dehumidifiers along the hall, all of which were not working because the water catch bucket was full and needed to be emptied.
Their breakfast is a joke. A couple of mini donuts and a waffle machine. Given the overall condition of the hotel, didn't trust the quality of food and never tried it.
When I tried checking out early, I was confronted and questioned why we were leaving early. When I listed all the reasons, the response was disbelief and shock of the reasons. He offered a "free" upgrade to their suite and wanted me to look at it. I declined and stated I didn't have any faith that the suite would be in any better condition given the overall condition of the hotel.
I booked thru Expedia. They attempted to contact the hotel management to get a partial refund for the unused nights. The management dodged all attempts. No refund for me and I also have the added expense of another hotel for the remainder of nights.
Not sure how this place has some good reviews, did we even stay at the same hotel? Or are they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was super later when we got here bc my flight was delayed several hours so unfortunately we only got to stay long enough to sleep a few hours then it was time for checkout. We got the jacuzzi suite, 209, I believe. The room was huge! More than enough space. There was a living room/kitchen/dining in the first room then you walk through the bathroom into the bedroom. We had a beautiful fireplace in the bedroom along with a jacuzzi tub. Unfortunately the jets would not work so it was just an oversized bathtub & we were too exhausted to request to change rooms. There was also a shower/tub in the bathroom for if you wanted privacy or to take a shower. The bed & pillows were sooo soft & comfortable! we had a tv in each room, although we never turned either of them on. A full size couch was in the living room area, dining table & chairs, ironing board, large chest of drawers & plenty of kitchen cabinets. The room/bathroom was very clean especially the bathtubs. It was quiet while we were there, we didnāt hear doors slamming or anyone up & down the halls all bight. I love the lobby! Itās so welcoming & unique! Also, there is the cutest little green apple tree in the front with a bench sitting under it & the prettiest flower beds. We were very happy with our stay aside from the jacuzzi tub not working right now but everything else made up for it. If Iām ever in the area again I will definitely come here before anywhere...
