Texas Inn & Suites Pharr/San Juan — Hotel in Pharr

Horrible customer service! I checked in late on a Saturday evening. Once in my room I noticed that many of the electrical outlets were missing plates leaving exposed wires, the ac was rattling and shaking from not being properly maintained, there were electric cords strung under the faucet and sink area in the bathroom, the toilet seat was so loose that I nearly slid on the floor when I sat down. I then noticed after noting all the fire hazards that there was no smoke detector in my room, it had been ripped from the ceiling. Obviously I was not comfortable staying there due to the fact that if one of these electrical cords or outlets just so happened to catch fire I would end up dying in that room with no smoke detector of any kind. I made the manager aware and her response was “you can leave then”. It took me over an hour to get a refund as they kept hanging up on the original booking agent. They agent had to call them 7 times to get them to answer and actually speak to them. If you value your life or the lives of those staying with you, AVOID THIS HOTEL...

We decided to stay here while our house was being remodeled. This hotel is conveniently located close to HEB and has a few places like Subway, Pollito Grill, Irenes Mexican Restaurant, Burger King, Dominos Pizza, all within walking distance. The very friendly receptionist Natalie checked us into a room that was clean and comfortable. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and a 32 inch flat screen tv. It even had a seating are with a small love seat and a coffee table. The beds were comfortable, but the bedding although it was clean needs updating. The WiFi functioned but you had to go to the front desk to get a user name and password which was a little inconvenient. Hair in the tub so I didn't use it, there was a stain in the refrigerator as well. We purchased a king bed but the toilet wasn't working so we got placed in a 2 twin bed room. We didn't get a discount either since we booked the hotel the same day. Oh well. But those are my only complaints.... Overall, my husband and I thought it was nice and we had a good time. Nice looking room. The bed was comfortable. Affordable place compared to others. We Felt safe in our stay which is my main concern at all times when staying at a hotel. We cleaned after ourselves before leaving as a thank you for the cleaning ladies so they don't have to work too hard. Everyone should clean up after themselves in my opinion. I would consider...
