Very rundown hotel with extremely outdated rooms that are dirty. See my photos for an indication of how unclean it is. Absolutely unacceptable low standards. Housekeeping clearly doesn’t clean properly and the rugs are gross with stains and trash debris. Found a cardboard strip by the bed, a straw was in the middle of the room, bathroom tub is very old & stained, discoloration on showers indicating leaks, used soap was in our soap holder when we checked in. How management can allow such low standards is a mystery.
They put us in an accessible room (for handicapped guests) even though we didn’t ask for it nor want it and were probably the only ones who used the fitness center so it was ironic. I doubt they were fully booked so I don’t know why they put us in this room. The toilet paper holder was too far away for someone who doesn’t need a wheelchair. And the toilet and sink were very low to accommodate a wheelchair yet we didn’t have a wheelchair so it was tough for my tall husband.
The front desk staff is either new or incompetent. Called six times to get the airport shuttle to pick us up and each person I spoke with disconnected me and/or had no idea how to contact the shuttle driver. Very frustrating.
Tip: You have to reserve your spot for the shuttle to the airport and they run every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour.
The gym is old and only has one at home elliptical (True brand) and two treadmills (one broken) in addition to dumbbells and a bench. There were two teenage boys in the gym at 11:00 pm when we checked in. It is open 24 hours with your room key.
Room size is small and not arranged well, especially the long couch in properly placed next to the bed making it difficult to get to the bed (see photos).
The shower has wall mounted shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Nothing else is provided. No shower cap or body lotion.
The breakfast has yogurt, powdered eggs, unappetizing bread (no one took any), a waffle maker (no instructions so people were confused while attempting to make their own which resulted in a lot of beeping), biscuits and white gravy, meat sausage, yucky breakfast potatoes, dry cereal that looked as if it had been there for months and oatmeal. The oatmeal and yogurt were fine. Coffee and tea available as well. Breakfast starts at 7 am on weekends and 6 am during the week.
Noise: I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was though it’s not as close to the airport as other hotels so that would explain it. Shuttle or drive is at least 10 minutes away from hotel including highway driving. Seemed like a long ride coming from the airport.
Heat? Forget about being warm in winter when their thermostat won’t go above 68 and the fan was blowing cold air. Unit was off when we entered so it was really cold. Lows were 28 the week we were there.
This Drury Inn is not comparable to the new nice Drury Inn near the Chandler mall. I was shocked and disappointed to learn that the same chain can have such different standards. Management needs to step it up at the PHX airport location and get the funds to renovate the rooms and hire or train housekeeping to actually clean. Wouldn’t stay here again...
Read moreI have never had an experience like the one I had at Drury Inn Phoenix Airport. I was incredibly disappointed at every turn with the issues I experienced and the lack of resolve for the issues. I requested early check in online and expected the $30 fee. The fee plus tax should have been 33.23 but at checkout my card was charged 35.92 and no one could explain why. I was refunded for the 33.23 but it should have been for the unexplained charge of 35.92 because where did it come from. The numbers did not add up correctly. Also, upon check in the bed linen was dirty with stains and hair under the covers. Housekeeping came and changed the bed linen but how was the room marked clean if it was not clean. I had a five night stay and every single day had the same breakfast options. Who wants to eat the same thing for almost a week? A serious lack of variety and options when every day is the same. On the fourth night of my stay the air conditioner went out. The thermostat was set to 70 but the temperature kept rising. I called to report it and was told that the AC was kept from going below a certain temperature on hot days. It's Phoenix Arizona, everyday during the summer is a hot day. I had not experienced this issue the previous three nights. The room temperature got up to 79 degrees F. I was told the issue would be resolved in 2 hours as the room cooled down. We left for an event. We were gone for 4-5 hours. When we returned the room temperature was 75 degrees. When I called the front desk, I was told the room AC went off when there is no one in the room. How would the AC know when I leave the room? Is this supposed to happen every time the door closes? And if that was the case, why wasn't it an issue for the three days prior? The manager on duty took over the call and apologized for the issues. She offered to move us but she told us the other rooms available were at 74 degrees F. Why would we move to another room with the same AC problem? We had to get two box fans for the room. Why should I pay to be uncomfortable in a hotel room? If there are known rooms that have these AC issues, why are people being placed there in the middle of summer? I was told I would be refunded for the night. When I received my final invoice the lowest priced night was refunded and NOT the night the incident occurred on. Why continue to lie to customers? I had to use a 2 box fans in a hotel room on vacation. This is completely unacceptable! I will never stay at Drury Inn Phoenix Airport again and I would never recommend the property to anyone. There were multiple issues during my stay. If my vacation schedule hadn't been so packed with activities I would have moved to a different hotel. Which continues to highlight how many issues we experienced when we literally were gone 12+ hours each day and still had problems. This was undoubtedly the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel.||Moral of the story: stay somewhere else.||If you do stay here, triple check your receipt, pull back the bed linen (they probably aren't clean), make sure you're not in a "hot" room, and eat...
Read moreThe only reason this hotel is getting a three-star is because of the horrifically thin walls and the problematic air conditioner. Unfortunately, they like to assign rooms in clusters rather than spread them out, so that means that you will have multiple neighbors. I'm sure they're doing this to accommodate their housekeeping, but what it results in for the guest is that you will hear the kids next door talking, you will hear the TV of your neighbor, and you will hear every single alarm that goes off and every wake-up call given by the front desk due to the paper thin walls. We were woke up this morning at 3:39 a.m. by the first alarm and by the 6th alarm, we were wide awake. That was really disappointing given that we specifically chose this hotel so that it would be close to the airport and we could sleep in before our flight. Instead, we found ourselves up very early because of the noise. Additionally, the air conditioner constantly clicked and there was no way to have it just continuously run so it started and stopped multiple times throughout the night, and once it started and had been running for a few minutes there was a grading and rattling sound similar to shredding paper. It made it for a very difficult and long night despite having very comfortable beds.
Additionally, they tout having a outdoor pool, but unless you're a kid, it's not warm enough for you to enjoy it. There were eight adults out at the pool with us, and only one adult felt like you could get in because the water was cold. Everyone else opted for the hot tub or to stay out of the pool. Unfortunate given that it was 92° outside. Disappointing.
On a positive note, the kickback snack bar had several options that were included in the room price. Starting at 5:30 p.m., there were mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, meatballs and gravy, a salad bar, and bar cocktails and soft drinks. There's also free popcorn. In the morning, starting at 6:00 a.m. on the weekdays, there's a hot breakfast. Today it was, biscuits and gravy, two different types of scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, sausage patties, hash browns, oatmeal and all the fixings, yogurt, cereal, fruit, waffles, and different types of bread and muffins.
I am very disappointed in this hotel, and would advise you to go to one of the other nice hotels of comparable price next to it. It was close to the airport, but so are all the other hotels next to it. The fact that this hotel was so vacant and yet we got a horrible night's sleep says a lot about...
