Advance Motel — Hotel in Plainville

The office is dirty and small with only enough room to stand. There was no one at the counter and bed bugs was written on the walls around the glass separating you from the people who worked there. I had to ring an unmarked bell to get any service. After paying $55.00 (Room for the night plus a five dollar deposit for the room key) which took literally 5 minutes for the credit machine to process, I went up to the room to find that it smelled like smoke and dust, the ceiling was separating and peeling, there was grime and finger marks on the telephone, door frames, window panes, and walls and just about everything was dirty and the drawers in the dressers had dirt in them. Upon inspecting the bed, there were cigarrette burns in both the comforter, and the blanket underneath. The sheets and underside of the comforter had stains on them. The pillows also had some kind of black grease on them. There was paint missing off many spots on the walls. I wanted to watch HBO as they have advertised that they carry and searched all the channels with no results. I called the office with my cell phone, since I didn't want to go anywhere near the phone provided in the room because it was so disgusting and looked like it had never been cleaned since the place opened. When I asked the woman who answered she told me channel 14 and hung up before I could say anything else. Channel 14 was all static so I called back to tell them this. The same woman answered and said "I know something is wrong" or something like that and hung up on me a second time. So I went to the office and the woman gave me a remote and said something else that I had difficulty understanding because of her thick accent. I tried the remote and it did not work. Finally the second time I went to the office, the man answered and started fumbling through 20 different remotes and finally came up to the room himself and got the HBO working for us. He told us that 95% of his customers want the adult channels and so they don't bother giving out the remotes for the HBO. We stayed to watch our show but the room was so gross we decided to leave and go elsewhere. Upon leaving the woman was in the office and told us we were all set. I asked for the 5.00 deposit back on the key we had paid and she said we could not have it back because we paid with a credit card. There was no sign posted anywhere that said we couldn't recieve our deposit back if we paid this way. I honestly cannot believe that places like this are still in business. It was the most disgusting motel room I have ever been in and I immediately took a shower and washed all my clothes at my next stop, fearing that there probably were bedbugs like the hand written messages had warned of. I also don't understand why these people would not have painted over these messages or made any effort to clean anything. On top of everything, there was no complementary shampoo or conditioner, although amazingly the room had a functioning air conditioning unit.||||The absolute grossest motel I have ever been to. I put 1star because the place is still standing. My first time there I went to the store and when I came back my door was broken they couldn't get it open so they tried to give me another room and leave all my stuff in the room til tomorrow. No way I had to get a ladder and go through the second story window. Later on that nite I found there were tics in the room and I had 2 attached to me. When I left I told them about the tics and they were very rude as if it was my fault. I haven't been back for months so against my better judgement I went back and wrong. It was a very muggy nite so I put the air conditioner on immediately but a half hour went by and it didn't get cold. So I went to ask for another room and was told no rooms left. Well I can't stay there so I'll leave but was told I couldn't have my money back again very rude They were more interested in how many people were in the room even after I told her 3 times it was just me and the wife. I needed a place to stay while our home was getting re-modeled. As the child of the previous owners, the motel had gone through an amazing transformation inside and out. The bed was okay and the rent was a little pricier than I would have liked ($55 for 1 night) for a place that didn't offer a lot of amenities.
