I recently stayed at El Cortez Condominiums and, unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations. While the property boasts a fantastic view and a well-maintained pool, these are just about the only highlights in what was otherwise a disappointing and even unsafe stay.
Upon arrival, it was nearly impossible to open the front door due to poor maintenance—something that immediately set the tone for what was to come. Inside, things didn’t improve. There was no cleaning service during our stay, and the unit was crawling with bugs. The tap water was cloudy, and nothing about the cleanliness gave me confidence.
Most concerning, however, was a large bur found inside the couch. My dog tried to bite it and ended up cutting her lip, and later, my father stepped on another bur in the bedroom, injuring his foot. It’s shocking that such hazardous items were left inside a unit that’s supposed to be guest-ready. These issues point to a serious lack of proper upkeep and basic safety protocols.
After doing some research, I found that a review from three years ago mentioned bed bugs and roaches, which clearly haven’t been addressed long-term. It’s incredibly disappointing to see such neglect, especially when the property’s website falsely advertises clean, updated units.
To be fair, the view really is beautiful, and the pool area is cared for much better than the actual condos—but that’s not nearly enough to make up for the rest.
If management put even half the effort into maintaining the units as they do the exterior and pool, this place could actually be great. As it stands now, though, I can’t recommend El Cortez Condominiums to anyone looking for a safe, clean, and honest...
Read moreI am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration with our experience at the property we rented in Mustang Beach, Texas Unit El Cortez 116 , LIFE IN PARADICE. Despite expecting a peaceful and relaxing stay, the reality was far different.
THE FIRST night, there were animals between the first and second levels of the property that made noises throughout the entire night, causing my grandchildren, my husband, and me to be unable to sleep. Most concerning is that the property owner, were aware of this situation and failed to inform us before we rented the property. The presence of traps at the front and rear of the property clearly indicates that you had prior knowledge of this issue.
If we Had been informed of this situation before renting the property, it is highly likely that we would not have made this choice.
I wrote to the condo manager showing was happened all night long I attached a recording of what's happening on the ceiling in the first-floor bedroom of Unit Cortez 116, which we rent. I ask to be need this resolved. I have three children here; they could be rats or rakoons were 4 rakooms. The trap outside the house isn't going to work. Today Saturday I called the manager and ask if we can check out one our late because we couldn’t sleep again, rakooms works at the night and they stopped at 7 am and we couldn’t sleep again sleep two ours but we had to have a rush hour to check out. When I call them to ask for this out and they said NOOOO. They don’t care that this issue come with serious disease . Today come in new renters and they don’t know what’s going on...
Read moreWe checked in last night and noticed the room wasn’t cool, felt hot throughout the condo. We got back from the beach today and noticed we have no water pressure in both bathrooms. The A/C also went out as well. It is currently 77 degrees in our condo right now. There is a total of 4 adults and 2 kids and now we can not shower nor be in the condo because of how hot it is. My wife called the condos and they informed us that the maintenance personnel would be at our condo in 25 mins to fix the issue. It has now been 2 1/2 hours and no one has shown up to fix the problem. We called the condos and now they won’t answer us. My wife has also message the host of the condo and no response from them either. Very disappointed in this condo based on the amount of money we spent to be here...
