Was pretty excited when booking this room at first. I had extra bonus points that needed to be used. I thought for 12,000 points I was getting a good deal.
Upon arrival, the gentleman at the front was very nice, respectful and friendly. When I was checking in, there was an odour in the hotel. We went up the elevator which jolted and jumped all the way to the 3rd floor. We didn't feel safe.
Walking down the hallway we smelt another odor. It was a mix of marijuana and just a really bad smell. The whole walk down the hallway was hard to withstand. We wanted to leave immediately but the room was non refundable.
Once we walked in the room it didn't smell so great either. The walls seemed like it was paper thin and we could hear people everywhere. The clothes dresser kept on popping open. Everywhere we stepped on the floor it kept on creaking.
We sat on the bed and it was stiff as a sheet of wood.
We were really unsure about staying the night at that point. We didn't feel comfortable. We decided to go down to the pool to get away from the room. We took the shady elevator all the way down for the first time and it seemed like it shifted when we started going down.
We finally got to the pool alive and in one piece.
There were signs all over the place that said "lifeguard not on duty, use at own risk"
We dipped our feet into what we were hoping would be a nice warm pool. It was freezing!! We decided to slowly go in and once in the water we realized it smelt worse then a lake! We looked along the water long along the edge of the pool and it was completely covered in like a thick algae/mould. Hopefully this review gets somebody's attention to at least drain the water and clean and maintain that pool for the first time since it's been built. We were worried we would need our goggles so we could look under water when swimming because of the chlorine but this is something we didn't need to worry about once we got into the pool because there was no chlorine in it ever.
The gentleman at the front came in to see if everything was okay. We told him the water was freezing. He left really quickly and came back. He let us know he put fresh towels in the dryer for us. We thought it was extremely thoughtful of him to do that. The whole time we were out of our room he had a pleasent conversation with us the whole time.
When we got back to the room we were going to try to relax and watch a movie. The bed was so hard we had a very hard time trying to get comfy. My whole body went numb on the side I was "sleeping" on.
Our day started at 5am.we could no longer lay down on the bed. My husband didn't get one wink of sleep. 0/5 stars for the bed. It's noon and we've been up for 6 hours and I am so sore.
We went downstairs to have breakfast. We both decided that we could not stay at that hotel for another night.
I was personally not happy with that hotel. I am a diamond elite member. I've been to many BW hotels and that one is by far the worst hotel I've been at, the staff were really really nice, I just wasn't happy with that exact hotel.
I would...
Read moreI am extremely, extremely upset with this experience and very frustrated! I made the reservation online with the card I wanted it charged too. It was an anniversary present for my parents. So I made the reservation online using my credit card and billing details. I originally received a pending authorization to my card so one would assume all was well. Also, when someone orders something online and puts a certain credit card, it always charges that card. Apparently that is not how it works. When my parents checked it, they were asked for a credit card encase damage was done to the room, no problem. That was expected. But in the end, not only did my parents see how much the room was, YOU CHARGED THEIR CREDIT CARD instead of the one the reservation was put through!
When I called the hotel, they told me "Oh well if you want to pay for a room you would need to call the hotel to tell them you're paying for it." Okay, NO WHERE on the website does it say that. So how in the world would someone know that or think, I just reserved this with a credit card, now let me call to make sure they charge this card. You wouldn't. When I told the lady on the phone that, she literally said "Oh yeah, it's not anywhere on the website." WELL THEN HOW CAN YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT! That is absolute ridiculous situation and I am very upset. When I repeated this was not on the website and made the suggestion that is needs to be added, she just repeats "well if you wanted to pay for the room you needed to call the hotel to tell them" THAT'S FINE BUT YOU HAVE TO TELL PEOPLE THAT! So much for giving my parents a nice night away and then the company screws up and they end up paying for it themselves. There was no sympathy from either person I spoke with on the phone, they made it seem like I was an idiot for not calling. WHY would I call , when it doesn't say I have to anywhere. just to give them the card details I just did. I expected so much more from Best Western. This was an awful experience and I will not be giving my business to any Best Westerns...
Read moreWithin the first 5 minutes of walking in the hotel, I knew I didn’t want to stay there. It is old, makes you feel a bit icky when you walk in the room, and there were bugs in my room (photos attached). There were 5 bugs on the window and heater, 2 dead just laying there, and 3 live ones crawling around the curtains. I had to quickly get them before my daughter saw them because she would have absolutely freaked and been anxious about sleeping in that room for the night. I knew if she saw those, we absolutely would have not been able to stay there for the night-she would have been freaking out and anxious. I too felt anxious, but I did not have the option to drive home. I intentionally chose this hotel bc it has 3 EV chargers. When I pulled in for the night, 2 out of the 3 parking spaces were occupied by non electric cars. This obviously was not enforced. When I asked the gentlemen at the front desk, he said he could take plate numbers and call the cops. I instead asked if I could park in front of garbage bins to access one that was near it. I did that, attempted to plug in to my car, and it would not latch. I moved my car next to the 2nd spot where the line could still reach, and that too would not latch. I know the chargers are operated by a different company, but it should be monitored and communicated that they are not working properly, and/or get them fixed. I had to drive to another charger at 11 pm in the town when the only reason I got that hotel was to charge overnight and be ready for my trip in the morning. And lastly, it felt like this hotel was occupied by unhoused families. I work with a demographic that does this, and I can recognize when this is occurring. I have no judgement whatsoever on those individuals; however, it did make me uneasy being with my 18 year old daughter from the things I was seeing around the hotel. DO NOT STAY...
