We recently stayed for our annual visit to our favorite college town. We prefer the Hampton (Formerly Holiday Inn) for both its proximity to the nearby parks, food, businesses, and overall consistency.
Our stay was quite enjoyable overall. We particularly love coming back to some fresh Otis Spunkmeyer Cookies and having them in the comfort of our wonderfully climate controlled room. The AC units within are very effective at keeping you at your ideal comfort level.
The variety in breakfast options is quite nice, and there's room to play around with combinations. The staff are also good about keeping the area clean and stocked.
One thing I would like to see changed, are the beverage options from the dispenser. The Strawberry Kiwi beverage was just strange, and another common fruit juice, like apple, would be preferred.
While we did not fully partake in the Crimson Bar & Bites, which was new to us, we did order some Truffle Fries. They were seasoned a little strong for my tastes personally, but my significant other liked them.
One suggestion I would have for this addition, as it only operates in the evenings as of right now, is have a morning addition for a variety of Mimosas, and maybe even offer fancy toasts or omelets to order.
The outdoor seating is quite amendable, especially when wanting to relax under the night sky in the summer. I will warn to any would be wanderers, that while they don't really pose a threat, the local wildlife does occasionally venture near when all is calm and quiet, though that's all part of the experience for a critter chaser like me. Just keep an eye out when you go for a nightly stroll.
We also used the pool and hot tub, and appreciate the seating within for keeping our things and readying ourselves.
My only real complaint for our entire stay, would be the current set up for the washer and driers. Rather than quarters, they require that you download an app to select and pay. This is an inconvenience, not just as a first timer but as someone that isn't going to regularly use such a service, and certainly not ideal for children and seniors. It feels strange providing my payment information to such a thing, and should anything happen to the application, or the hotel's internet service be interrupted, these won't be usable. Within the app, you have to select which unit you would like to use, I assume they're listed by proximity, but this isn't helpful when they're stacked, and you can't read the label for which one is which, as they're placed on top. There aren't really clear instructions either besides needing to download the app. If you would like soap, you'll have to go down to the lobby to purchase some separately. I may sound ornery, but it's too much going on for simply wanting to do some laundry.
The room attendants were courteous in passing, asking if we needed anything as we made our way down the hallways. One note on cleanliness for the rooms, is that while it was clear the bathroom floor had been cleaned, an amount of the previous tenant's hair had been incidentally shoved into a corner and left in the process.
I could make a few other nitpicks if the management would like to hear them, but I really want to stress that I had a pleasant time at this visit, those prior, and am already looking forward to next year's. Thank you for...
Read moreTerrible Experience – DO NOT TRUST THIS HOTEL!||||I booked Hampton Inn Pullman, WA because my daughter’s school jazz band trip was staying here. I wanted to be in the same hotel, so even though I booked through Booking.com, I thought it would be straightforward. Originally, my reservation was from 04/16/25 to 04/19/25. However, the school later informed us we no longer needed the night of 04/16.||||I called the hotel directly on 04/10/25 to modify the reservation, but they told me I had to contact Booking.com since I booked through them. I immediately called Booking.com and spoke with a representative named Richard. He put me on hold, contacted the hotel, and told me the hotel approved my new dates: 04/17–04/19. I even received a confirmation email confirming this change.||||Fast forward to today, 04/17/25 — after driving SIX HOURS from Oregon to Pullman — I arrived at the hotel around 6 PM, only to be told by the front desk that they couldn’t find my reservation! The front desk got a manager named Sarah, who told me my reservation was CANCELLED yesterday because I “no-showed” on 04/16!! Excuse me??? I explained that I had a confirmation that the reservation was modified! Sarah then claimed the hotel never received any notification from Booking.com regarding the date change. According to them, they still had my reservation for 04/16–04/19, and because I didn’t show up on 04/16, they canceled it! To make it worse, the hotel was now completely sold out.||||I was furious. After driving all day, I was stranded with no room because of their poor communication (or lies). Sarah half-heartedly offered to call around for other hotels, but at that point, I told her I didn’t need her help — I couldn’t trust anything from this hotel.||||It didn’t stop there — I then spent over an hour trying to reach Booking.com (which is a nightmare on its own). After waiting forever, I finally spoke to a woman (Fina or Tina?) who said she would contact the hotel. She left me on hold for a long time — then HUNG UP ON ME! No call back. No nothing. So I called again, waited another 15 minutes, and spoke with a man named Alan. Same thing: Alan tried to contact the hotel. Eventually, Alan told me that Booking.com had proof that they contacted a hotel staff named “Phoebe” on 04/10 regarding my date modification. BUT the hotel still denied ever receiving any information, and even claimed there was no Phoebe working there. Seriously? Someone is lying — either Booking.com or Hampton Inn Pullman — but the bottom line is I ended up without a hotel after a 6-hour drive, despite having a confirmed, modified reservation.||||Hampton Inn Pullman and Booking.com completely failed me. I would NEVER recommend staying here or booking with Booking.com. Neither company took ownership of their mistake, and I was the one left scrambling late at night to find a place to stay.||||Shame on you, Hampton Inn Pullman and...
Read moreThis is a very nice property that should meet all reasonable requirements for any traveler looking for affordable but safe, clean, pleasant, comfortable lodging. Note that when I give 5 stars, I am providing a rating of my experience, with consideration of price paid. That's a little different from the notion of a "5 star hotel" (nobody will confuse HI Express with a Four Seasons).||I'm not sure when this hotel was constructed, but it looks and feels "new-ish". It checks all the boxes: comfortable bedding and linens, pleasant and welcoming lobby (despite some construction/ remodeling), competent and friendly desk staff. It was quiet with the exception of some construction noise, which of course is a temporary matter (I am writing this review in October 2023), but construction noise could be of concern to those who plan to occupy their room during daytime hours (if this applies to you, I might suggest proactively asking the hotel to put you in a room far from the construction area).||I did not have time to use them, but the pool and fitness center seemed nice.||The hotel offered milk & cookies in the evening, and a typical Holiday Inn Express complimentary breakfast including a few hot items and the famous decadent, warm, gooey cinnamon rolls (those wishing to watch their intake of sweets will need strong willpower to avoid having more than one).||There is one little thing this hotel does that is so basic and simple and helpful, and I wish more hotels did it: in the room was a printed list of all the TV channels. I arrived on a Monday evening and wanted to get into the room and catch the end of the Monday Night Football game (Packers-Raiders), and was glad I did not need to scroll through the channels to find the local ABC affiliate . . . and then later the same when I wanted to catch the news on CNN.||I also appreciated that the in-room mini refrigerator had a small freezer compartment so that I could re-freeze the ice blocks I use with my cooler.||The location is relatively convenient to WSU, though not within walking distance. The hotel has a shuttle van; I saw it but did not use it; they supposedly provide complimentary transportation within a 10-mile radius.||I appreciate that this hotel is dog-friendly. My pooch slept very soundly. She asked me to say that she gives the hotel "4 paws" (she'd give 5 paws but she has...
