Holy moly!!! Had to come back and update my already 5 star review from a year+ ago. We go often, but my birthday dinner May 2025 was spectacular and brought a tear to my eye! LOL
The cocktails were divine! The pickpocket and The Bradbury. Pickpocket was sTrOnG! and yet so soft with a light cinnamon finish. Bradbury was perfect and already dreaming of the next one on a hot summer day! Lemon was refreshing, the cherry a sweet afterthought. Both drinks beautiful to look at.
We then had to try The last Paige (if not for the beautifully written description alone!) and are so glad we did! What a wonderful walk through so many different flavors that come together for a tart, sweet, fruity experience. It took me to a core memory of feeling carefree...happy - what a fun, thoughtful, adventurous cocktail!
The best for last... Lime in the Coconut !! Reading the description I remembered my mom drinking her white, frothy, creamy, pina coladas at the neighborhoods annual Memorial Day party, and I needed to have it! However, I missed the subtle hints in the description that this wasn't my mamas drink! ha! Most of the flavor was from the smooth Cazadores Blanco tequila and blood orange liqueur, the coconut was such a soft finish, but the drink was still so white, frothy and creeeeamy, but not in the heavy, overly sweet, sugar rush drink of the past kind of way. I teared up. It was a joyous drink. Sounds, silly - but there was no way not to smile while drinking this delicious soft, smooth take of a margarita! THANK YOU Rigean for creating such a bright libation!!
Started with the Poutine and asked for a box asap so we could relive that poutine power feeling with leftovers in the airfryer. Seriously, just get it to go and thank us later. Weekly special Curry Burger - ffs, give me that curry aioli sauce in a pool and a dump truck of their fries and leave me alone for the summer!! The burger patty was delicious with the red curry mixed in and the tomatoes and fixins' made it what I was a craving, a burger! Partner got the Bacon Gouda Burger, and again, perfection on hitting the burger craving while giving us some upscale'ness with those perfectly carmalized onions and red peppers! chefs kiss
Thanks, Birch for making my birthday great and making me happy I Ieft the house after a long day/week at work, when I just wanted to sit on the couch and rot. A well needed reminder to get outside and get inspired with great atmosphere, drinks, staff...
Read moreThis restaurant has a nice atmosphere and nice servers. The cocktails were excellent. My wife had the Grapefruit Mule and it was a fun take on the classic Moscow Mule. She also had the Shrimp and Asparagus Pasta and really liked it. I had the Sirloin Steak Combo with roasted potatoes and the seasonal vegetables. I ordered the steak medium rare and stressed closer to rare than medium. However, the steak was served medium. I wasn't too happy about it, but a 6 oz steak is a pretty small portion and I don't send things back, ever. I would have expected the seasonal vegetables to be fresh, however they were green beans and seemed to be from frozen as the texture and flavor were off. Finally, and this is really my fault for not reading closely... but I ordered a side of their Cougar Gold Mac and Cheese for $8. I was expecting it to be a smaller portion of their Cougar Lobster Mac, though it didn't specifically say Lobster, as I didn't see it listed as just mac and cheese elsewhere on the menu.... I assumed at the price point it would have been the lobster. It was very good, but was just a little disappointed. Overall, I do recommend this as a nice date...
Read moreI met a friend for dinner there last night. My gumbo soup was a bowl of creamy mush. The tiny pieces of sausage were boiled far too long and had turned to soggy, mushy creations that were quite unpleasant. I found two tiny shrimp that were flavorless. It was not even close the gumbo I anticipated. I left most of it uneaten.
My friend ordered the cougar gold mac/cheese with lobster He said it was pasty and flavorless. I had a taste of his lobster. Was it really lobster? There was no flavor. And I do mean that quite literally.
The service was great! That was the high note of the evening. Around us were tables of people whose voices were so loud that I could barely carry on a conversation with my friend. They need some noise deafening materials in the walls there.
When I walked out the front door, there was ice on the wood stairway. I proceeded with care. And I then had both of my feet fly out from under me and I landed on my behind. At 62, I'm proud to say that I'm fully intact, without one broken bone. Surprised? Yes. And where was the de-icer??
Will I be back? Oh heavens no. But I wish you luck and a...
