This is an excellent hotel, especially if you are dealing with dietary issues and cannot eat out every night you are in town. It is super clean and the staff are genuinely kind and considerate. The kindness is infectious, and being that I was in town on business, I very much appreciated the smiles and sunny attitudes!
I first want to mention Tyler, at the front desk. She was incredibly kind and approachable. She displayed professionalism at ever turn and I was grateful to see such a kind and welcoming face when I first walked in the door after 8 hours on the road. She promptly set me up with my room and parking and gave me all the instructions I would need to get comfortable and acclimated in the hotel.
The rooms are spacious and very very clean. I am amazedly the housekeeping staff and they deserve major kudos for keeping these rooms like brand new. Everything was spotless and there were no weird smells. Usually, you might suspect the room will smell odd, when people have used the kitchens, but this was not the case. The kitchen was super clean and I was thrilled to have that full sized fridge and cooktop. It saved me. I was in the hotel for close to two weeks on business, and due to health issues, my diet is very very stringent. I have enormous troubles eating out.
The general setup of the room is quite comfortable and easy to navigate. I loved the spacious desk area, overlooking the rolling campus greens. The bed is comfortable and the linens were supper clean.
I did not go to the breakfasts- nor did I have time for any of the social activities or swimming or jacuzzi.
There are washers and dryers and not only do they take coins, but credit cards, as well. You may want to bring your own little travel sized detergents, though.
Health room is standard. Some ellipticals, treadmills, free weights, etc.
This hotel is located right on the Washington State University campus, and it is right next door to the Marriott Courtyard. Take a left out the driveway, and a few miles (15 minute drive) away, you will be heading to Moscow, ID. There are shops like a Target, Marshalls, Ross, Winco, Alta, etc...
Down the road from that, is downtown Moscow. If you are looking for a grocery that has a good healthfood section, try the Rosauer's Huckleberry's in Moscow. They have your standard health food needs and a bulk section. The other Rosauer's in Pullman does not have as good a selection, nor a bulk section.
I drove to Lewiston, ID every day, and I can tell you the drive from the hotel is a straight up 51 minutes. The drive is beautiful, though- as you are driving The Palouse.
Sadly, I did not have time to investigate the campus, but everything on campus is a nice stroll away.
I was also informed that there is free grocery delivery to the hotel, and that is a really nice feature.
Watch out. There is a parking fee (daily), but it is like 8 or 9 dollars- not a lot. This is a really nice hotel and I am glad I chose to stay here. Expect to see a lot of kind and smiley faces at the front desk, in the elevator, doing maintenance, and housekeeping....
Read moreOverall, the hotel is fairly new and nice. The level of hospitality was very poor coupled with the fact that the nightly rate was inflated 3x because they can on these big weekends. BUT the staff that was working was fantastic. Very nice and helpful.
The bottom line is not only paying a premium, but really an unfair gauging of rates and then receiving the hospitality level we received. I can deal with the mishaps of hospitality most of the time but when you charge us an unfair rate I have less flexibility.
A short list of issues we experienced: • Upon on arrival at 5:30pm on Thursday, May 1st 2025, we were told that the room wasn't ready and the receptionist asked for my number. A little shocked-but not upset, I provided my number. She mentioned they lost some housekeepers and were behind. I understood. We decided to get some dinner and go visit my son. Finally, between 9:30 and 10pm, I decided to call the hotel since I have not heard from them. In a roundabout way she said that it would be ready by the time we got back. Upon check in at 10PM she asked if we wanted our rooms serviced? I was confused by the question and asked why does it cost more?…. It did not, but would help to know under their staffing constraint. ok…understood. I said yes-knowing our room would not require much. • Breakfast on Friday was limited. Coffee ran out but took forever to bring out new brew. I never saw it. Plus the breakfast was not enough for the amount of guests. So I left. No breakfast and no coffee. I did not attempt on Saturday or Sunday. Not prepared for graduation weekend? • Room was never serviced. I had to track down new towels on my own. • The cleanliness of the room was not good. The shower, bathroom floors, and edges were very dirty. The overall cleanliness of property was well below standards-especially for Marriott. Remote did not work.
I slept on the hideaway couch and I was concerned about my back but it was ok...to my surprise. Was not great-but ok.. Felt the coils but again-expectations, it was a pull-out bed.
Marriott Properties- If you are going to charge that amount for your rate-you should at least provide what you say you will provide. The basics. I will not be staying...
Read moreThis is a beautiful Marriott with spacious wonderful suites, a nice lobby and lounge area. It is a little out of the way from main roads but very close to university sports fields etc. Although the facility is great, the staff could use better training and work on friendliness. (By contrast the staff at the Residence Inn in Dallas went out of their way to be super friendly). Check out procedure was messed up due to complications with our reservation. Another problem is that the person at the front desk has to take reservation calls as well as check in people. Apparently the phone calls take precedence, as we were left standing in front of the receptionist for a good ten minutes while she explained to the caller why they were always filled up during certain sports events. During this time she didn't even acknowledge our presence. This is bad protocol and we observed this happening with others as well. In food service area, staff too eager to get everything taken away and cleaned up even before the time period was up. This was at breakfasts and the free happy hours. Observed very odd procedure during the hamburger Mix. At 7:15 they were out of burgers and other hot food (think it was supposed to be chicken and /or veggie parties). After a few minutes of waiting, six burger patties were brought out, which were instantly taken by those waiting. No more burgers or other hot food were put out, but during the next 15 minutes, one by one, the trays of tomatoes, then lettuce, then cheese slices, then buns were replenished with items carried out by hand from kitchen area, even though the trays didn't need to be restocked--especially since no more burgers were forthcoming. Then at 7:29 the now-full trays were taken away. It was the strangest thing. By 7:30 everything was removed. You would think they would wait a few minutes for those who arrived late. Other stuff: had a fabulous dinner at restaurant called the Foundry. Also be sure to go to Ferdinands to get delicious cheese and ice cream made at the university. Definitely would recommend staying there but management needs to work on some of...
