The past 3 years I have consistently used the Chinook facility with a spouse membership. I was involved in a club which practiced there as well as paying (on top of my regular membership fee)to take various fitness classes very regularly throughout the entire year. I recently asked for a half year refund for my full year membership due to not using 6 months of my membership due to COVID and my spouse being high risk and wanting to use the money to use towards a membership once I am comfortable returning since this whole pandemic thing has lasted way longer than I anticipated. They informed me they would only return 26 dollars of my membership because I was "too late" and "had sent this out in the newsletter" which I explained I did not receive any emails. If this was the only gripe I had with UREC it would not be as big of a deal, but during my time there they have been inconsistent with policies and incredibly difficult to work with as a member of an RSO. I realize that students do not have an option to opt out of these crazy recreational fees, but if you are planning on joining as a spouse etc. I would consider finding somewhere else to join. As a neurodivergent WSU student who sometimes finds big spaces overwhelming, I have to give a huge shout‑out to King Zeus at the Student Rec Center. His presence truly makes the SRC feel like more than just a gym — it feels like a safe, welcoming community space.
King Zeus brings a unique mix of calm confidence, kindness, and real leadership. Whether it’s offering helpful tips, greeting students with genuine respect, or keeping the vibe positive and inclusive, he sets the tone that makes everyone feel comfortable being themselves. You can tell he leads by example: the rest of the staff reflect that same respect and professionalism, creating an environment where people from every background can work out, relax, and feel at home.
For someone like me who values structure and compassion, it means a lot to know that when I walk into the SRC, there’s someone like King Zeus making sure it stays supportive and grounded.
Big thanks to King Zeus and the whole SRC team for building not just a gym, but a community where everyone feels like they belong....

There are spray bottles of cleaner within a couple feet of all equipment so it can be easily cleaned. The weight room is very large with lots of benches, racks, and machines. Four basketball courts. A five lane full length swimming pool with huge spa. They have done a good job keeping the place well maintained. It isn't cheap but it's worth the price of you use...
