Each September, the Island County 4H Equine Teams attend the State Fair and typically reside in the campground. But for the past few years, we have chosen to book our rooms at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Tacoma Puyallup and have not been let down. I have had the opportunity to speak with many of the staff members and have found each one to be extremely polite, informative, and willing to go the extra mile for their guests.
My room was quiet and clean and the complimentary breakfast is a nice treat each morning before a very long day. The housekeepers on staff during our stay were extremely polite and efficient.
The public areas of the hotel are immaculate and nicely decorated.
Our girls work hard to earn a chance to compete at State and it's very nice for them to have a comfortable bed to sleep in and a fun swimming pool/hot tub to help wrap up their long days. It is a very convenient walk from Fairfield Inn to the back gate of the fairgrounds, which we travelled many many times a day during our stay.
The only negative is this: by the time our team is told our Fair arrival and departure dates, the prices of the rooms have skyrocketed! My bill for four nights was uncomfortably high for me and slightly offset all the positive things about the hotel. Our county 4H group brings in a large number of families over the course of the Fair and there is always the debate over whether it's worth booking a room at Fairfield Inn & Suites Tacoma Puyallup vs camping at the fair campgrounds. A good portion of our team chooses to camp based on the price., but we all would much rather avoid the hassle of camping and stay in this hotel. If you were to offer any incentives (military rates, group rates, 4H, frequent guest, etc) it would be a nice loyalty program for those of us who would like stay at your facility year after year. (there were no discounts available during the time of my stay).
After eating only Fair Food all week, a lunch or light dinner option would be a fantastic addition to your food service.
All in all, I would rate Fairfield Inn & Suites Tacoma Puyallup a 4 out of 5 and plan to be back for the next several years, and to recommend you to our county...
Read moreMy husband, son and I were blown away by the experience we had staying here for 4 nights. First of all, we were greeted by a very sweet and professional front desk staff member (wish I could remember her name). She welcomed us warmly, explained everything thoroughly and set the tone for our stay. In addition, each member of the front desk team was always helpful and had a can-do attitude. My area of work also includes hospitality and I appreciated each and every staff member we came into contact with - no request was too large for them. One morning, I had a problem with the dryer in the guest laundry area: the person working the front desk sent someone right away and he took care of the issue. Thank you, to all, for making our stay extra enjoyable!
Not only was our room clean and ready for our stay, but we appreciated how modern it looked; having a microwave and mini fridge was wonderful for heating up and storing food. Our king-sized bed was very comfortable and the sofa sleeper for our son had a nice, thick mattress (not one of those thin ones were you "feel the bars").
The expanded continental breakfast was great and contained an unexpected surprise: almond milk (I'm dairy-free) in addition to regular and chocolate milk. Regular and de-Caf coffee plus hot water with nice selection of teas and hot chocolate plus instant hot cider mix was available 24/7. In the evening, freshly-baked cookies (3 choices) were offered at the front desk. How nice to be able to grab a snack if we needed.
Internet was fast and free! Loved that we could connect without any issues whatsoever.
We requested extra towels/wash cloths prior to check in - that was honored and much appreciated. I don't know the name of our housekeeper during our stay, but she ALWAYS greeted us with a smile and made sure we had what we needed. I tipped her each night of our stay - wish I could have tipped her more!
Free newspaper(s) (local and USA Today) were an added bonus.
Nice exercise room area that fit our needs. Didn't have a chance to take advantage of the pool/jacuzzi, but both...

But seriously, the hotel staff here is special. Your stay will be over the top because of them. Kristina: She greeted me with such a friendly smile and got me checked in so quickly. I LOVE how she takes time to listen to my rambling, even though she's busy. You can tell she loves her work and is good at it.
Kimberly: She was so great in accommodating my requests and just taking time to hear me out. I LOVE how she isn't so cheesy in her customer service. She really connects and goes above and beyond making my stay personalized to me.
Melanie: She was on night shift and she was so friendly and great. She always makes me laugh :)
This staff is so great, I can't say enough. Even Valerie was willing to share some great insights and is super friendly. I didn't see Demetrias (probably spelled that wrong -ask Melanie about spelling names wrong ;) ) but he was spectacular last time as well. He was friendly and gave me some great insights about the local restaurants and even helped me pick out a great movie to watch.
I'm away from home quite a bit and this staff really helps me feel like I'm with friends. I consider them friends and always look forward coming.
Love staying at this spot!! I'll...
