Yikes! The negative reviews are accurate. I was surprised upon check-in to be asked for a $100 cash deposit for incidentals returnable on checkout. I asked why wasn't I made aware of this on Priceline, the front desk authority suggested that perhaps I didn't read it on their site. I did indeed miss that information. Anyway, I paid the deposit. No receipt was given or offered. Apparently I wasn't the only one that didn't read it on the website because later when I returned to the front desk to request a receipt for my deposit, two people in front of me were also surprised by the news. The front desk authority was unnecessarily goading and arguing for five minutes with the guy in front of me while the rest of us sweltered in line waiting. After check in I went to check out the room. As soon as I opened the door it was apparent the floors were not clean. In my opinion that says to me the room is not that clean either. There was a big ball of hair that blew by as I opened the door and spots of something on the floor. I went back to the front desk. He said he'd get someone in there right away but it would be 20 minutes (at least) before I could go into the room. I waited in the car with my dog. It was an inconvenience because my husband was supposed to be able to help me get everything in the room could not stay that long because check-in and now this delay took so long and he had an appointment. Got into the room and the floors were still not clean. The TV remote didn't work. The new remote they brought me had no battery cover. The sink leaked. The dressers were all banged up and scratched. The dusty corner lamp's plug prongs were bent and hanging out of the socket and wouldn't go back in. I fixed it. The air conditioner was coming off the wall and the top looked like someone had taken a bat to it. The wand on the curtains came of as soon as I opened them. There was dust, dirt and dead and live bugs in the window. There was no coffee maker as is listed in the description and none at the coffee station in the lobby. The hotel is also only dog friendly, not pet friendly. Be aware, no cats allowed. There was dog feces in the hallway and all around the rear pet area. There was a dead bird that was on the outside walkway my whole stay. The ice maker is on the second floor so if you're handicapped, hope you don't need ice or coffee. The grounds are a dumpy mess. Your key doesn't let you in the doors closest to your room so there's many doors propped open. There's garbage collections and people outside every door. As soon as you pull up there's a snarky staff member smoking in front of the no smoking sign at the front entrance. Two times I called the front desk and no one answered. The bathroom near the lobby was a mess and had no hand towels and the hand dryer was inefficient. The guest laundry facilities were filthy and nearly blocked by a soda machine with no diet soda options. They also do not offer early check-in or late check-out as is listed in the amenities on the website. I also never saw a convenience store or gift shop as is also detailed on their website. I could continue but I think I sufficiently described the highlights of my experience. Not a good stay. On the upside though the bartender and the morning front desk ladies were very nice and friendly. Overall not worth the $100/night I paid. Never again if I can help it.

Charming but Flawed Our stay at the Water’s Edge in Racine had some positives, but also several disappointing and concerning aspects. The rooms were freshly updated, smelled clean, and had a charming feel. However, the hallways were dim and gave off a slightly eerie vibe, which wasn’t the most welcoming. A major safety issue was that the side doors didn’t fully latch and could be pulled open from the outside — allowing anyone to enter without a key or going through the lobby. That made us feel very uneasy, especially at night. We also discovered that the bar advertised online has been closed since December 2024 due to not having hired a bartender — something we weren’t aware of until arrival. It was one of the things that drew us in, so that was a letdown. If you’re staying on the first floor, note that the windows are not one-way. If you open your blinds for natural light or to enjoy the view, people walking by can see straight into your room — which made it feel far from private. The riverfront location had potential, but the view was mostly blocked by overgrown vegetation. There’s very little nearby in terms of food, and while it looks like they once had a pool, it’s now just a filled-in patch of dirt. The nearby dam was cool to see and a small highlight, but overall, the stay didn’t live up to expectations. With better maintenance, clearer advertising, and improved security, this place could shine — but for now, it needs some work.

I recently stayed in their king river view with hottub. Staff was friendly however the hotel room had a fan that was super load. You would turn it off but after 20 mins it would turn back on.. Could not sleep with that running. The room only had 2 towels.. With a bathroom that has a bath and shower. When we asked for more, all the towels were apparently being washed at once and we didn't get the towels til close to midnight. The hottub (gorgeously huge, no complaints with size) has a bathroom sink faucet on it. It took over 40 mins. The water never got hot and was always warm so this huge tub never got warm enough. The river view was more construction view and was also covered by the wood. Overall the whole hotel had on old feel that they were trying to maintain.. Would I come back? Maybe but I wouldn't upgrade to this room again.

ABSOLUTE DUMP. I stayed here 13-15 of Sept 2024. This place is a crap hole. Shill out the money to go somewhere nicer. WONT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN AND I RECOMMEND YOU DONT EITHER. You'd have a better stay at a roadside motel.

Pros-

  1. Register guy was nice

  2. prices were cheap (for multiple reasons as it turns out)

Cons-

  1. key cards failed to work on entrances or room door multiple times with multiple swipes.

  2. we asked for a couple extra towels since the room came with 1. Was told they don't have any extra to give out. Like seriously? Do you guys think only 1 person stays in the room at a time? Lol.

  3. bed pillow had some kinda gunk on the other side. Gross.

  4. 2 earwigs (bugs).

  5. there's a no smoking clause on the agreement sheet. Doesn't stop anyone from smoking. The smell was so bad in the hallways it made our room stink. Came home with my clothes smelling pretty nasty from the smoke. I've stayed in dozens of hotels for multiple reasons and I've never run into these issues so don't say it isn't enforceable.

  6. toilet jammed and flooded after a couple uses (no we didn't plug it with poo).

  7. the whole hotel and all of the surfaces are grungy and greasy. Door handles, stair well pole things on the side of the wall, windows.

  8. the hallways and entrances have cob webs and a lot of dings and scrapes, the whole place needs to replace their garbage tile and give it a paint job.

  9. the carpet is stained with.. well idk what with but black and brown stains everywhere. I don't want to know what with.

  10. the pull out couch "mattress" is about as thin as possible. Nothing to stop the springs driving into your back. That was neat.

I know this is a bit of a read but we're pissed. A two star hotel? That's what the approval rating should be, and...

Travel lodge does not assist with vision issues. I’ve asked for a few accommodations the help me out because my eyes are not so great, like a chair to sit in the middle of the room to watch tv, because the bed and couch are weirdly not even close to the super small tv. Nobody was rude just not helpful, was offered no discount or any resolution to the issues. I check in for a week, brought my stuff up to the room and couldn’t get in. Went downstairs to get the cards fixed, was told they are all broken and given an actual key. Went back up, put my stuff in the room and then the tv didn’t work. Went back downstairs to resolve the situation, which couldn’t be and so they moved me to a different room. Went to the second room and again, cards didn’t work, went back downstairs and was told that the maintenance guys was suppose to fix them and was given a key. Went back to the room and got completely unpacked and then the ac wouldn’t turn down past 78. So I went back downstairs, was moved into a third room. Went back to the second room and proceeded to move everything between rooms. The room itself has a nice view past the construction and garbage that sits behind the building. Very nice river and waterfall that goes under the bridge. All 3 rooms were different some had big dressers underneath their ridiculously smalls tv’s, some had tables and most were beat up and kinda gross. My carpet has stains all over it and food on the walls from past guests. Beside the fire alarm going off from 12-1230 one night, asking for a room clean 2 days in a. Row and not getting, no t.p, hard to get towels, no breakfast, awful WiFi, thin walls to hear your neighbors music and activities, I don’t think I would recommend this hotel .

Thanks for the generic response, your hotel...
