TLDR: It's garbage, and the owner allows his mates to party in the carpark. I stayed at the Ramada Sacramento for 5 nights from the 9-14 of October 2024. This is by far the worst hotel experience I have had in my life. The hotel is dated and well overdue for some upgrades, especially the bathrooms. But the major concern is security. I have never felt so unsafe at a hotel. When we turned up on a Thursday evening, many homeless people were sleeping in cars in the carpark and milling about the hotel, and as others had talked about, a security vehicle parked in the entry. We were very concerned about the hotel's safety from the start, as our ranch slider on the first floor didn't lock. There was a very large group who looked to be there for a wedding/celebration and were behaving very drunk and belligerently to staff and playing music loudly in the front area of the hotel. However, our biggest issue was on the final night - Sunday the 13th of October 2024. We returned to the hotel around 11:30pm tired and ready to sleep. There was a large group of men in the carpark just below our window drinking, smoking, yelling and playing very loud music via a car stereo. They had dragged all their room furniture outside, and it looked like they weren't moving soon. At midnight, we had had enough, so my partner went to reception to complain. They said they had had a few complaints and would speak to them. My partner went outside to ask them nicely to please be quiet and was met with extreme hostility and told he wasn't the owner, so he had no right to tell them what to do. He returned to the room, and we waited for security to move them on. At 12:40 am, the security car drove up to them briefly and then passed by, achieving nothing (I have this on video). The music got louder, and they became more belligerent. I went downstairs to find out what was happening and was told they were giving them time to stop before taking it further, as they were intimidating the security guy. At this point, it was almost 1am, and no one in the hotel could sleep. I told them I expected the police to be called if they could not control the situation themselves. There was another lady down there who had been told this was a regular occurrence at the hotel, which is very concerning; why do they let these guests return? At 1 am I went out on the balcony to ask them to please go inside as we couldn't sleep. One of the men approached and started hitting on me. I asked them again to please be quiet and go into their room so we could sleep. They continued to be loud and said they would go inside after they had finished their meal (which had just arrived) I replied that was unacceptable and they could eat inside as it was past 1am and the guests of the hotel had paid to sleep not listen to them all night. They got very hostile, threatening to have me arrested by "their brother the Sherriff" and have me kicked out "by their friend the owner" and calling me all kinds of insults and slurs. The security guy drove up again, and they started demanding that he tell them my name and room number and to call their brother, the Sheriff so I could be arrested/ trespassed. (apparently, asking them to be quiet is a crime?). As I was only 1 storey up and the ranch slider door didn't lock, I was very much afraid for my safety. After some more exchanges, they agreed to move their party into the lobby. And the other lady who was with me at reception cleaned up their mess in the carpark. Needless to say, after their threats, I did not sleep that night. At checkout, I asked for a complaints/ refund procedure and was given a card for the owner with a Gmail address. I asked for an email for the head office, and was told they weren't really affiliated with Wyndham just used the name, and that was the only email address. They seem to be selling the name to independent hotels with no oversight. The men from the night before were checking out with their group (upwards of 30 people). I would caution anyone who plans to stay at this time of the year as it is likely this group will be there and the owner allows this takeover to...

Overall Rating: 4/10 ⭐⭐☆☆☆
🛎️ Check-In, Staff & Service:
The staff at Ramada Sacramento was exceptional. Front desk was friendly and accommodating. Upon check-in, the staff was attentive and made the check-in process easy. The check-in process took about 5 minutes, which is standard. Staff remained professional and accommodating throughout my visit.
🛏️ Room & Features:
I booked a standard room on a higher floor. The room included all expected amenities: comfortable beds, clean linens, cable TV, a microwave, coffee maker, adequate size mini-fridge, and basic toiletries. (see pictures) Free Wi-Fi was reliable and sufficient for standard business tasks, with no noticeable interruptions. (See pictures.) The furniture was worn and damaged. The bathtub was peeling paint and the ceiling contained significant water damage from what seemed to be old flood damage from the floor above. (see pictures)
🦹 Safety:
The hotel took appropriate safety precautions. There were several spills in the lobby, but employees did put “caution wet floor” warning signs around all areas where there had been spills. The surrounding neighborhood is not the greatest, but I had no issues with safety at the hotel. The building itself felt safe and secure. While the spills were clearly marked, they were not cleaned up promptly, which is worth noting.
✨ Cleanliness:
Cleanliness was a critical issue and disappointing aspect of the stay. Spills in the lobby and hallways. Room: multiple areas like the bathroom, vanity, and headboard had been missed during cleaning. The furniture was old and worn, and the mid-layer blanket had several cigarette burn holes. A lingering urine smell was present near the lobby elevators. Severe water damage to ceiling and paint chipping in bath. Gym was dirty. Cleaning staff were proactive and courteous, offering room service without being asked. Despite their efforts, the hotel’s condition pointed to a staffing shortage rather than neglect.
🎁 Amenities & Grounds:
The hotel grounds were well-maintained, and the overall environment felt safe. No issues with key cards. Access to rooms beyond the main entrance was convenient.

👨⚖️ Verdict
Ramada Sacramento shows potential. Extensive amenities, friendly staff, and well-kept grounds. Critical issues include major cleanliness, maintenance and cosmetic issues/deterioration. Recommended for value-seeking travelers and professionals who prioritize lots of amenities and immediate freeway access and don’t see cleanliness or surrounding neighborhood as a deal-breaker.
