Okay, so I don’t usually write bad reviews but I wanted to at least do my part and inform anyone looking to stay here. There’s a manager (don’t know his name and not even sure if he’s a manager) but he has white curly hair and looks to be Indian. He is a very rude person and ruined my entire experience and I’m currently working with motel 6 to try and get money back for my current reservation. My sister booked a room for myself and my family online under my name yesterday, we had no issues checking in and the young guy with the dark hair (appeared to be Hispanic) was very nice to us. We were due to check out today but needed to renew so my husband and I went down to the office to get pricing on two rooms since the one we had was too small for our family. The “manager” or guy with the white curly hair was helping someone else but literally as soon as we walked in, he started staring at me and rolling his eyes as if he instantly had a problem with me for some reason. When it was our turn, I asked him how much would it be to extend our current room and add another room with just a queen bed. There was a long pause of him staring at me with a look of disgust and it was so awkward I asked him “is this going to be an issue or is this just a look of confusion”? He looked at me and said “ma’am all of our rooms are queen only” “not sure what you’re talking about” keep in mind the room we currently had was a double full bed. So me thinking he misunderstood my request, I re explained myself and told him, I just need to add a queen room to what we already have. He looks at me again with his mouth open rolling his eyes and by this time my husband caught on to his behavior and stepped in to interact to keep conflict down. The guy acted like he didn’t want us there at all for some reason. He quoted us and we decided to pay to renew the room with him and book the additional room online since the guy was making me uncomfortable. He didn’t hand us the room card he just slapped it on the counter and looked at us. I asked him “is that all” because I wasn’t sure if he was done with our check in or not and he puts his hands up like “I don’t need anything from you, you can leave” in a very rude manner.
I went back to the room and booked an additional room with a queen bed and when it was after time for check in, I went back down to check into the additional room. The same manager was down there laughing and joking with another customer but when he made eye contact with me, he paused and just stared at me with that same look of disgust again. Everything literally went quiet and it was so awkward and uncomfortable that the woman that he was dealing with, stepped back and smiled at me and said “you can go head I am waiting on something” I told her thanks and walked up to tell him I needed to check in. He said “you need to check in? How?” with the most condescending tone. I went to explain and remind him that I booked the additional room online and in the middle of me explaining he said “move back I am only helping her first” “you can wait since you only need a keep card” he was so rude. The lady walked back up to the counter and was like “I didn’t know you had started on my reservation since I didn’t have my ID” and he goes, “you’re fine she can wait”. Thank God the same guy that checked me in yesterday walked in to check me into the new room again. He seemed to be a little irritated today but he was still a lot more pleasant than the “manager” with the white curly hair. I’m not sure what I did or why this man had an issue with me but all I did was exist. I only needed a room to be closer to family while I prepare to bury my newborn daughter who was premature and passed 2 days ago. I’m not a confrontational person at all and honestly I’m still grieving so I didn’t have the energy to respond to this man’s behavior. I don’t want to think it was a “race” issue but watching how polite he was to everyone else kind of made me wonder why he couldn’t provide me with that same hospitality especially since we have spent quite a bit...
Read moreAbsolute disgusting experience during Coachella weekend. I had booked my room well in advance only to arrive at check-in to be told they had cancelled my booking a few days before my arrival. Apparently they tried to phone me about paying in advance, and they informed me that since I never answered their numerous calls (lies!) they gave away my room.
I booked through hotels.com, and this room was Guaranteed which allows you the option to pay at the hotel or pay in advance. I decided to pay at the hotel. But lo and behold, they gave away my room saying they tried charing my card (saying it wouldn't work - lies!) and I didn’t answer calls when they tried. Absolute shocking excuse. I work and live on my phone and haven’t missed a call in years. Lol. I did NOT receive any calls from Motel 6. I asked for proof/timestamp, and she said no and could not provide it. To top it off, I was even sent reminders of my booking the night before welcoming me to Palm Springs!
I am FULLY convinced that this hotel is trying to gouge customers to get more money during Coachella. Disgusting. I booked in advance and had a decent price. I will never trust this franchise ever again. Let me also mention the front desk lady told me they had 10 rooms left, and said she could book me a new room but it would be 50% more money than what I originally booked it for. Then why did you cancel my room?!?! Isn’t the point of a reservation to secure and guarantee your price? Price gouging 101, and quite frankly, fraud.
It is also worth mentioning that the front desk woman said Hotels.com was in the wrong by leaving my booking confirmed and I was no longer their problem. Apparently Motel 6 is not responsible for updating Hotels.com - they told me Hotels.com is responsible for contacting all guests. How or why is Hotels.com supposed to contact me, if you don't tell them you cancelled the room? Lies, lies, and more lies!
Lastly, I finally contacted Hotels.com and they were just as confused and had to phone Motel 6 to get an explanation and said they could not reason with the hotel and they attempted to relocate me. Let’s just say finding a decent priced hotel on the first day of Coachella weekend is next to impossible. Thanks for nothing. Thanks for ruining my first trip out of the pandemic, and thanks for utterly screwing me Motel 6. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER. DO NOT support this hotel, and DO NOT stay here during Coachella or Stagecoach, or anything. They will try to rip you off. And lastly, absolute JOKE of a...
Read moreMade a travel decision online and ended up at this motel. The motel is in a great location and was very inexpensive. There was also plenty of parking.
However the condition of the rooms themselves were truly awful. First room was a total failure- I saw little black dots all over the surface of the bed - pulled back mattress cover to find dark stains that looked like they could be blood and little brown husks that looked like the could be bed bugs. Manager took a look at the pictures, was very apologetic and very quickly gave me a second room but told me the second room was all they had and it was take it or leave it. They were happy to refund my stay but they had nothing else to offer. I took this to warning to mean that they expected the second room might be just as bad
Note: (I did see a mattress added behind the dumpster the next day so at least they may have dealt with this)
In the second room the mattress condition was beyond gross - (I took a look at it because of the first experience) it was heavily stained and moldy but had no bugs visible. I looked briefly at other hotels but last minute reservations would have cost literally $1500 more and it was nearly midnight. I seriously considered sleeping in the car but I was too tired.
The rooms are very grungy because they are not cleaned by staff during stays - only when people leave and they have a lot of time to accumulate dirt and odors and very little time to clean them. There are no fresh towels provided and the windows are blocked shut.
It was the kind of place if you walked barefoot into the shower - black goo would literally stream out from your feet when the water hit. The bathroom floor mat immediately turned black and brown. Since I was there for a long time - I bought a mop and bucket back at Von's and cleaned the room myself - it took a LOT of cleaning to get the accumulated black dirt from the floor. There was no bathroom vent.
During my stay - the police were there frequently - there was obvious illegal activity in the parking lot (especially solicitation and narcotics) - people were smoking in chairs in the doors of their rooms. The fire alarm went of at least 3 times usually very early in the morning.
Overall I think this Motel did considerable damage to my...
