New Leaf Catering — Local services in Cathedral City

New Leaf Catering saved the holi-day for me! My family of 12 came to the desert, and one night for the Packer game, we were 20. I wanted to spend time with my family instead of cooking all day, and contacted Scott to see if he could help. He was amazing! My mother and I tasted some of his dishes and worked collaboratively to create the menu. The quality of the food, the ease and precision of Anthony’s arrival at my house was so professional and fluid. Zero stress. Anthony was stealth like in the kitchen, while I experienced the luxury of playing hostess, and presto, we had the most amazing steak tenderloin with caramelized onions and horseradish sauce, an arugula walnut salad, farro carrot salad, lemon chicken meatballs, and a pasta dish that everyone loved! Scott is enthusiastic and clearly passionate about what he does. His commitment to excellence shined through every detail in the dishes, as well as the presentation. He really cared, and wanted our party to be a success, and thanks to the New Leaf crew, and that the Packers won that night, it was a huge success! And the best part was that I could enjoy my own party!

They only get 3 stars for a number of reasons: I very specifically planned the menu to accommodate my vegan DIL, which I was assured they would do. Server was unable to communicate that one appetizer had eggs in them, and they did, when she said they did not. We tried one of the appetizers and we thought it had eggs. This was not a problem, but the server assured us it did not. We had to go inside to chef who told us it did have eggs. Again, my DIL could skip it, but the server should have known it had eggs and been able to communicate this. One entree was supposed to be a VEGAN lasagne including vegan cheese, and it did not. Chef said he didn't know, so she had no entree. He was able to use another dish and make it vegan, but only because we had vegan butter in the house. Server's English was so bad it was almost impossible to communicate with her. See number 2 above. While the food was good, the communication was poor between salesperson and chef, and chef left server with all the mess to clean up. And since my vegan DIL was paying for this very expensive dinner, it was even worse that she could not eat the entree especially made for her.

What a wonderful team! We had a five-day wedding event for which we asked New Leaf to cater virtually every meal for a crowd ranging between 20-100 people. From the tasting all the way through the wedding event, New Leaf came through for us in spectacular fashion. Highly, highly recommend this remarkable team. Scott and his associates are incredibly professional and highly skilled food artists, while the staff is the best imaginable. Not only did our guests love our strictly VEGETARIAN dishes (and these were a pack of blue collar mid-westerners, not too keen on eating veggies for five days, with one of my meat-loving brothers shockingly admitting that "this is the best meal I've ever had in my life"), but our guests consistently remarked on how wonderful and accommodating the staff was. We are beyond pleased and so very grateful. If you have an event, any event, do your best to get New Leaf on your team. It might be the best...
