1st off let me say 🇨🇦🇨🇦🦩🦩🥰🥰🥰, what a hidden gem! We have been staying at the same resort for 13 yrs which got bought out last year and while my husband was there, they jackedk up the room rates and wouldn’t honour his rate when he checked out costing us an extra 1000 USD and not worth it $ 275 a night for nothing new. So we scrambled this year as the other place we booked told me 1 week out they wouldn’t honour our reservation because 🇨🇦 laws for Service dogs don’t match their company’s rules. My husband has Life Ending Cardiomyopathy with all the requirements needed for the Dog. I searched literally day and night looking for a place for pets.
I stumbled upon Sand Vista and boy am I glad I did. From the phone conversation at 11pm as I was just finishing work with Denise and Shaun to Shaun making accommodations for my husband while here to have a lazy boy chair put in our room so my husband could get his feet up -and not have to lie in bed . The rooms are very clean and have everything you need. ( someone took the strainer) lol 😂 Regular fridge , pots and pans , utensils, BBQ to use which we did.
Laundry facilities, pool, chairs and sunsets and the price range is modest and affordable for a family of four or just a couple.
Everyone is extremely nice and it’s quite. Pool is heated but the sun does a great job heating it also.
Your close to John’s Pass , Treasure Island and Clearwater Beach, plenty of places to eat or cook for yourselves.
I’ve stayed in many places from luxurious to spring break fly by night hotels and honestly this place is worth more than its price.
Shaun has done amazing work fixing it up and this coming from my husband who use to do a lot of DYI work and is very particular about quality.
Hence why we just extended our stay , did I mention the beds are so comfortable that I’m not in pain getting up next day.
Now - the down side Our shower is triangle but can still fit my husband who is ex lineman so think big gorilla 🦍 shoulders , little tight but still can clean.
Toilet tight for him the TP roll makes it hard to fit in , so we had to take it off .
Two dressers provided and I was able to get my clothes in and little closet to hang my stuff. Few hangers but the is anywhere I’ve gone , so I always pack about 20 . Your luggage if standardize should fit under the beds we had bins and they fit under.
Not a practical set up for using the bathroom as only outlet is above sink , but again keep in mind the hotel is 75 yrs old and amazing work has been done so just bring extension cords as the only option to shave.
The hooks on back of bathroom door are tiny and only two so your towels don’t dry right so went to dollar store and got over the door hanger for 2 bucks even luxurious hotels I have been in have issues with this.
Bring a power box for your extension cords so you don’t blow them up with cords that aren’t graded for certain
Shower pressure is off the charts so hold on cause you will get cleaned not like some places where you have to take 20 minutes just to rinse your hair.
As for Ice Machine, I didn’t see one but that shouldn’t matter the corner store is 5 min walk up street.
All in all if you love your pets you will love this place .
It is a new place to stay until they get sick of seeing us. Already to bookholidays for next year.
Sincerely glad this...
Read moreThis is not a hangout. It is EXACTLY like staying with a family member, being asked kindly (though condescendingly) to leave was definitely the best thing that could have happened to make our vacation reach its full potential. A little about us; We are a 25 year young couple with an 11 month old baby. We recently moved to Alabama from Tampa and made a trip home to visit with friends and family, and decided it would be most comfortable to get a cute place by the beach so that instead of running all around town people could come see us and the baby. Boy was this the wrong place for such. It was cute, typical generic beach feel, mix matched fixtures were a little confusing (chrome, brushed nickel, and bronze all in the same bathroom..?) but whatever, we were super grateful to have a safe little home base on the beach for the weekend. We arrived Saturday afternoon and it seemed so laid back, friendly host, some old salts and sea hags across the way getting lit and carrying on meaningless conversations with us as we unpacked the car. The pool was cute but small (I never got the opportunity to use it) As soon as a few friends of ours arrived for dinner things completely changed. When first being asked to move their 2 cars (totally understandable) everyone respectfully complied, we were told that it is not a hangout. At 10 pm we had a knock at the door we asked if there was a noise problem (which we know there wasn't the babies were laying down watching peppa pig ) no, it was time for our guests to leave... This is this woman's home and you most treat it as such. Humiliated, we again respectfully complied , and invited them to the beach for a little before their drive back to tpa. The next morning at 9:30 Kayla came to our door again as we were discussing how uncomfortable we felt staying the next 2 nights and how we were going to handle the grandparents that wanted to come see the baby. She started by giving us the ol "we need to talk" and started by insinuating that one of our friends put a cigarette in her live plant and caught the deck on fire at midnight (there were no signs of such nor any fire department visits) but she wasn't "pointing any fingers" Then She slowly explained that we just "weren't a good fit.." And she couldn't have been more right. You get what you pay for. It's worth the extra 30 bucks to get yourself a place on the beach (instead of trekking through flooded public access) with a standard protocol for guests (right to limit, extra charge for additional , just check in at the office etc.) and a little privacy. The owner of this place has a birds eye view of the place and SHE IS WATCHING YOUR EVERY MOVE.. and her...
Read moreRENTER BE AWARE!!!!!!! DO NOT BOOK HERE If I could give zero stars I would. Wife and I had reservations for 8 day stay. She called and spoke to Sean about the pending storm brewing in Caribbean. Sean told her they would "discuss" when time came. Wife called again on our way there on Friday July 2nd, again he said they would talk when time came. Florida Gov Desantis declared a state of emergency on 07/03/2021, Pinellas county was put on hurricane watch and then hurricane warning. We had no intention of checking out early and only left under a state of emergency and hurricane warning on Monday July 5th, 2021. Sean refuses to offer either a refund or credit for the four nights we did not stay at Sand Vista Vacation Rentals . We will now dispute with our credit card and if necessary, file a small claims suit. You would think a good business man would be honest and not take money for time not used during an emergency situation..
Response to Sand Vista response: The staff at Sand Vista admits to not being meteorologist and real life experience counts. My wife and I could not agree more. We both grew up on the east coast of Florida and have lived here our entire lives and have seen many storms, large and small. We were also living in SW Miami-Dade County when Hurricane Andrew came ashore right on top of us and we thought we would die that night. It is that exact experience that prompted us to leave Sand Vista when we did. You see, it was not only that a storm was approaching, but also the fact that nobody, including the staff at Sand Vista, knew where the storm would hit. Also, as I said before, the state was under a State of Emergency and Pinellas County was under a hurricane warning. For those who do not know, a hurricane warning is "A hurricane warning is issued when hurricane-force winds are expected within 24 hours". We live 4+ hrs south so we made the decision to leave so as to give us enough time to get to our home. Sand Vista also states, " no other guest left". This is not what Sand Vista told the Investigator from the Department of Legal Affairs, Consumer Protection Division who called regarding our complaint. Sand Vista indicated to the investigator that other guests who were concerned for their property also left. GUESTS, THEIR, both plural words. This is not about the large amount of money Sand Vista kept for no service rendered. This is about a business doing what is proper and correct under emergency...
