First off, let me say, if you want to stay right around here this is probably the best option.
The good things were the Wi-Fi, the overall appearance of the hotel, the pool area looked nice (though we didn't use it), and the bed/pillows, which were very comfortable. The breakfast was both free and had a decent variety. Also, the windows open so we could get some fresh air!
The neutral: The train tracks are right next to the hotel. If the whistle blew, I never heard it. I, personally, didn't mind the noise of the train passing at all. However, if you're sensitive to noise it might bother you. There are headphones available at the desk, according to a posted sign.
The bad: the a/c in the gym was off, and mounted high; out of arm's reach. It was hot and humid inside. The TV had been removed from the mount, there was no water, no restroom nearby/connected, and no sanitizing wipes/spray. There were folded towels provided. The shower in the suite had some misaligned nozzles that caused water to go all over the bathroom.
My biggest complaint: I upgraded to a king sized, two-room Jacuzzi suite as we going to be spending ~24 hours in the car in a 3 day period and we both have back issues. It was the only reason I reserved the nicer room (usually I go for the cheapest option). When we began to fill the tub, we noticed some hair floating in it. We fished it out. Then we noticed it was losing water. The drain had popped back up. We pushed it back down and twisted it. Tried everything, couldn't get it to hold for more than a minute (side note: if you have arthritis, these tubs are not for you). I turned on the jets to see if there was enough water in the tub to still utilize it, and more hair and fragments of something black shot out into the tub. Frustrated, we gave up and took some ibuprofen.
In the morning when I checked out, I made it clear to the front desk clerk that I was unhappy, that the Jacuzzi tub hadn't been operational and was the only reason I'd chosen that room over a cheaper one. She responded that she wished I would have told them the night before so they could see if they could get it to hold water. I indicated that even with water in it, it was still dirty and was not in usable condition, which she acknowledged. Never offered to talk to the manager or discount the rate to one without a Jacuzzi. I gave them a few days to contact me about it and have received no such contact.
Lastly, I realized that I left my Bluetooth headphones wrapped around the arm of the treadmill. I called on Monday to ask if they had been found or could be looked for, and the front office clerk said that she'd leave a note for housekeeping. The gym is probably 50 feet from the front desk, and it was around 5AM. As someone who worked hospitality for years, in my opinion, that's just poor service. It would have taken two minutes to run to the gym and look in the window, as there's only one small treadmill. I haven't received a call (though I didn't really expect one).
So, overall, two stars. The facilities aren't bad if you just need a place to sleep with no expectations of anything more (but please don't spend your money expecting more). Service was subpar and special amenities severely...
Read moreIf I could give negative scores I would! Or if I could somehow report these people, like they should be, and warn EVERY traveler in the area to not stay here - I would! Making the reservation was bad, but I figured everyone has their days, you know? But then I go to check in, number one I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully and like I was a burden (I’m paying them, mind you!) and needed to hurry and get out of the way so the clerk could get back to scrolling Instagram (not an exaggeration). They put me in the wrong room type, but there was NO WAY I was going to go back down their to feel like more of an annoyance. All that is enough to make me not stay again, but not to write a review because I hate doing this! But people need to know, this place is a nightmare! Besides the smell and stains, a tarp covers the roof, we couldn’t get into the pool, and we noticed a lot of activity and noise in the room next to us for 3 nights, but we just thought rude people nothing more, until the night the SWAT team kicked in their door, raided their room, arrested three people who were hiding out and had a meth lab IN THE ROOM NEXT TO ME AND MY KIDS!!! The management acted like it was no biggie, like it happens every other day and I was being ridiculous for wanting to leave and be refunded for the rest of my nights. I didn’t even care about paying for the nights we already stayed, I just wanted to leave and think it’s crazy I should have to pay! I’ve never had a manager or “supervisor” or whatever he was actually yell at me let alone in the middle of the lobby and come around the corner of the front desk through their door and get in my face (with my children watching!). He actually bowed his chest like he wanted to fight and screamed at me to leave! On Monday looking at my bank account I realized they not only didn’t refund me but double charged my card! At that point all I could do is cry. When I called it went nowhere they’d either say a manager will call you or they just hang up on you! How are they in business?! We ended up at roccos pizzas eating when I realized my son scratching his back and back if legs constantly, I too had spots that itches like mosquito bites but after seeing the spots and bites on him I brought him into urgent care to find out we had been exposed to a (according to the dr) “overwhelming infestation of bedbugs” and our skin was having allergic reactions to it. We never saw the bugs, but I’ve now learned they don’t come out until night time and feed on blood, apparently they look like ticks of their full grown. SO IF YOU DECIDE TO RISK A STAY THERE-CHECK DOWN UNDER THE HEADBOARDS AND DOWN AROUND THE BOTTOM OF THE MATTRESS-LOOK FOR TINY BLACK DOTS!!! That’s them! They never even called me back. This place has instilled a fear of hotels in me, we’ll only stay at holiday inn express and suites from now on....
Read moreWe came into town to visit family for Christmas. Me my wife and our three kids. Upon check in Friday night. The young man there was great! He got us checked in and did everything to make sure we felt like guest. Once we got here realized the rooms were smaller than we had thought so we asked for a cot. Was told we could not get one due to fire hazard. Ok. No problem. So we asked about upgrading to a bigger room. This young man tried everything they could to help with that. But we booked through outside source so they couldn’t change it. Again ok no problem. I was cool with it because he tried. Wake up the next morning and every meme we since then has been horrible! We started our stay with have a roll of toilet paper they lady at the counter now acted like I was asking her to move a mountain for a roll of toilet paper. We was told that they had full hot breakfast. Nope! They had some little Debbie honey buns set out for breakfast. We leave go visit family come back to hotel around 7 sat evening. Brought my two nephews with me so they could swim in the pool with my kids. Nope. They won’t allow because they were not staying here. And COVID won’t allow this. However all the while none of the employees were wearing mask while giving me instructions on COVID and using a pool. Mind you there are only about 3 cars in this parking lot so no guest were at the pool. But we say ok and move on. So before we take off Sunday morning was gonna allow at least my kids to swim. Because they were upset about not getting to after we told them they could. So I get another per son who is rude as hell. Tells me that my kids aren’t listed in my room. They couldn’t swim. Then I had had enough. We will not be back horrible customer service. Money isn’t an issue for us we chose this hotel due to be close to family. But we will drive the extra ten min next time and stay in Springfield. Sorry for the long review but I hope to save someone else from the headache this stay...
