Diamond Head Restaurant — Restaurant in Republic

After MANY years today will be the last time I will buy food from this restaurant. Like many of the other reviews recently on here I am just so disappointed. Even before the pandemic their quality was going down but now it’s like eating cardboard. Today I got the Sweet and Sour combo. (I usually get other stuff but was in the mood for the sweet treat today) The sauce is so watered down it has nearly no flavor. The cornstarch set up like jelly. Not a pineapple chunk or carrot to be seen and barely enough sauce to drizzle the few pieces of rubbery chicken. No soy or mustard sauces. They stopped adding fortune cookies a LONG time ago. At least they included a flimsy fork that will barely puncture the tough as rubber chicken. And to be honest the quality has been going down hill for quite a while now. I hope they are not the same family or group that had Diamond Head in Springfield years ago because if they are the original owners would be so ashamed of the quality. And all of this for just a few cents shy of $8. If it were $5 or even $6 I would give it a 2nd star but would still be disappointed. Very affordable, always consistent, and always fast. It's the best place in town, one of the best Cashew Chicken places at all, and when they had the old recipe with more White Pepper, it was the best Cashew Chicken period. A lot of the 1 stars are bs whiners making stuff up like Noelle Johnson who very clearly added water to his sweet and sour chicken because he's a broke boy and wanted a free refund or attention. Owner knew he was capping, thats why he offered a refund on the spring rolls and requested he bring in the Sweet and Sour. Don't trust the low reviews, this place is a 10/10

I've been eating here for many years, the one star reviews are almost all liars or idiots who don't understand what they are ordering. And yeah, intercom is bad, bro they're using an xbox mic, give them a break. Also, don't give a bad review because you want the diner opened again, they have been getting more business since it's been closed and lets be real, they never really were busy inside, they should stay...

The gal at the counter to take my order was super friendly with a smile that could light up a room. Very sweet young lady.

This is the second time we’ve been here for a second chance. We ordered the orange chicken and my husband pointed out why we don’t like it. Because where we lived before when we had orange chicken it had a gel type consistency sauce. This is clearly a sauce served over batter fried chicken. I can get the brand Crazy Chicken from let’s say Walmart and we’re going to get exactly what we’ve had before. Which is what we’re going to do next time. I also asked for Chow Mein. That’s like an Oriental food staple and the waitress looked at the cashier like she was crazy when she asked if they served that.
