Awful- My family has been staying here for years, loyal customers. We booked a stay for a couple of nights around the holidays last year to visit relatives. Since we are coming from out of state, we had a long drive ahead of us. Due to an unforeseen circumstance with our vehicle, which almost caused a fatal accident, it was rendered unable to drive by a licensed mechanic. After being towed home by AAA, our plans were ruined because no rental car service was available for the next two days due to it being Christmas eve and Christmas day. I immediately called the Stagecoach to explain the situation, only to be met with a condescending tone by one of the owners. It's not like I was fabricating a story, or making an excuse. This was a circumstance that was out of my control and I had nothing to gain by not being able to be with my relatives over the holidays. You would think that, with it being around the holidays, and with us being loyal customers for years, they would show some sympathy. That was not the case by any means, I felt like a child being scolded and how I was lucky, " they didn't take the full amount". I explained how due to it being the time of year that it was, I was unable to rent a car for the next two days. I also explained how my family had been loyal customers there for years, and if they could, just for one time, make an exception to a loyal customer due to an unforeseen circumstance. I explained how the deposit I put down, was a significant amount, and how it could help me repair my car. I also explained how I had recommended them to my friends who were in the area visiting. They refused, I was appalled by how arrogantly I was spoken to. I would understand if this was a national wide chain, with thousands of customers, coming in day in and day out, where it is very hard to establish a personal connection. But this is a small, privately owned, mom and pop operation, in a small, sleepy town. They should be fortunate they have returning clients at all. They think just because they are the only game in town, they can treat their customers with disrespect. It's not like they offer 5 star amenities, it's mediocre at best. During my last visit there, one of the owners, sat down next to me at 7:30 in the morning while I was eating breakfast to expound on her political views, which I did not ask or care to know. This is the last thing I wanted to hear, after just waking up and trying to eat in peace. Don't they know the first rule of business 101 is not to talk about religious or political views with customers? I can understand if the customer wanted to know, or brought it up themselves. I will never, nor will my family, ever go back here again. Some advice for Stagecoach: Never take your customers for granted, and stay humble or be humbled. Then again, what else would you expect from people who actually think Gov. Chris Christie would be a good fit as the...
Read moreIf there were less than a one star I would rate this hotel accordingly. IMHO Anyone who gives this place a 5 star rating has never been to a five star hotel! The owner Dave was rude, unprofessional and intimidating. It’s called the “hospitality business”for a reason. I had one of the 3 pet friendly outside rooms that had no access to the hotel lobby. My door opened to the gravel driveway. Between the car’s driving past and the wind, my room was so sandy and dusty I had to put a mat beside my bed to wipe my feet just to get into it. No housekeeper ever came. Not even once. I was told if I needed clean towels to put the soiled ones in a basket outside. The towel rack in the bathroom fell off in my hands. The worst part of my stay was having no access to the main hotel and lobby from outside room. Every morning the front doors were locked until staff came in late morning or early afternoon. On Tuesdays there is no staff at all. The hotel was completely locked from the outside! An emergency number is posted on the front doors. Nobody answers the phone. You have to leave a message and they return the call when it’s convenient for them. So much for our security and emergencies. There is with a lock box attached to the back porch post if you happen to get locked out of your room (next to the broken vending machine). The housekeeper told me that one guest actually had to break the door jam off to get into his room. I did NOT feel safe at all. I’m being kind in stating that it was a very uncomfortable stay and I would never go back or recommend this...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at The Stage Coach Inn for our 7 year wedding anniversary in October. Walking in to the inn you could tell it was built to acommase guests traveling from their homes to stay and enjoy a nice scenic view of Those Island. The view from our second story room was absolutely beautiful, and the deck was a nice spot to sit and look out over the river. The room was quaint and the bed was a perfect size to stretch out.
Now to the downside: on the website it advertised the room has a fireplace heater. Power to the heater was turned off until November 1st. We turned on the thermostat on the wall before we left for dinner in Providence. When we returned the room was as cold as it was before we turned the thermostat on. The fireplace heater was "seasonal"... I've never heard of that.
My wife and I would not stay here again in October. The bed sheets and blankets were very warm, but to get up in the middle of an October night was very cold in the room.
Another problem was we were informed that we may have had to move rooms due to a water leak. Instead of a second floor room we would have been given a basement room with no chance of a view. Thankfully we were able to keep our room.
All in all, it was a bummer situation but we enjoyed our time at a nice Italian restaurant in Providence and fell...
