Some room doors here appear to be closed and locked but are actually not, so anyone walking by can just enter the room with a touch. One can leave for the day only to return to find the room was unlocked the entire time. Sometimes it appears to be a card key malfunction, but it is not, the key doesn't work because the door is not actually completely closed by a tiny fraction of an inch and has to be slammed shut. In a quick survey of just my floor, I found three rooms would open just from the force of a brief poke of a finger. Our room, has since been fixed by maintenance but all doors on all floors should be checked. Management must know of this problem, as they must have noticed that guests in those rooms always seemed to need new card keys during their stay. Since having card keys replaced didn't work to solve the problem, we took anything important with us every time we left the room, or left one person behind in the room all day, which was a major inconvenience. My guests had resorted to sticking a wedge of pizza box underneath the door to make it harder to enter as they had been scaring each other awake when they pushed the door open.||||This hotel really isn't a hotel according to the dictionary as a "hotel" caters to the accommodations of travelers or tourists. Really like this Hampton. It's virtually spotless. Like many, even though I love staying at hotels, it always crosses my mind that thousands of people from god knows where, having done god knows what, have occupied the room before me. The horror. But, to the naked eye, and nose, when I inspected behind and under furniture and what not, I was totally impressed with how clean it was. My room, 122, was so nice; completely updated. Beautiful masculine dark wood armoire/ workspace wall unit, with expandable work surface, perfectly balanced with more feminine features like the soft white on white patterned bedding and floral wall art. The softer wall art maintained balance with its white border and bold black framing. I had a super comfy adjustable leather desk chair and armless upholstered sitting chair along with a good sized mini fridge and standard sized microwave. No complaints with the bathroom. Spacious and very clean.
All staff were very sweet and seemed to be happy employees which I appreciate. Full breakfast served on time. I was on the first floor and barely heard a soul the entire two weeks. Cuter than average deer on the side and back of property by woodsy area every night. Saw complimentary on the go snack sacks full of goodies by the front desk one day. As always, Hapmtons round the clock tea and coffee station was a life saver. The "robust coffee" was awesome.
Cons: -The entrance is in a terrible spot. Right off highway 46 and you have to pass over another lane that is entering the highway . I never figured out how to get in that lane. Actually, I never thought to think for myself and instead allowed my GPS to direct me into a death trap two dozen times. Each time I arrived into the lot unscathed, I'd make a mental note to look at some maps online and figure out the safest route in with my own actual internal brain. Unfortunately, that note disappeared each and every time as soon as I put my car in park. Call the front desk, maybe they can explain the safest way to pull in, otherwise, be careful and expect to go around at least once unless there aren't many cars on the road. -No USB charging outlets. Only one outlet by desk and one in bathroom that can accommodate any kind of charging plugs. Outlets attach to bedside lamps won't work with any ios devices nor some other plugs. So no bedside charging. -Breakfast. Don't get me wrong, breakfast was ok and had lots of variety, but I've been to many Hampton Inns around the country and some are just way better than others. Some are kick-ass, and some are just average. -Tea. Im a tea person and would have liked more variety. I wished the area would have been kept stocked up more as well. Again, some Hampton's spoil guest too much and that's why I'm writing these ridiculous "cons ". Same for the hot chocolate. I don't want to see one packet sitting there all lonely. I'm American. I'm a New Yorker. I want access to more than I need, and I want it 'round the friggin clock.
Definitely stay here if you're in the area. Oh, great rates too! Love my Hampton Inns! (With the exception of the one in Beaufort SC. NEVER...
