I was very tired after 2 long days of driving so admittedly wasn’t the sharpest but I had a hard time finding the hotel. It’s right off the expressway but it is in with many other businesses. I drive to where the very high “Super 8” sign was and there was what I thought was the hotel. The parking lot was very small and the entrance was a single door without an awning. There were no signs on the building so I was wondering if this was actually the hotel or maybe an apartment building or condo’s. The first vehicle entrance I came to said “one way - do not enter”. The only other entrance had a sign for Super 8 with the arrow pointing away from the hotel (see pic). I tried following the arrow and drove around the other businesses as well as around the area and just couldn’t find the hotel. This was so bizarre. After 10 minutes of looking I finally went back to the building and it wasn’t until I went in and approached the small main desk that I saw a worn out “Super 8” welcome mat. When I told the guy at the desk his sign had an arrow pointing the wrong way he said “yea, maybe they did that to direct vehicles to their large vehicle overflow parking lot”. Really?
I was invited to the continual breakfast in the morning and as I passed by the smallest breakfast area I have ever seen at a hotel I decided to pass. The room was expensive at $100 (not the $59 advertised). It was definitely on the small side as these rooms go. The pillows were actually lumpy. Throughout the night as I woke up all I was aware of was how lumpy the pillows were. There was a depression in the floor at the base of the bed and something that had been spilled on the tv stand that had not been cleaned up.
Now the positives. The room overall was clean and fresh. The climate control was quiet and worked well. Overall the room was quiet.
I liked this location in particular and there were lots of options for dining. Unfortunately for Super 8 there are many other hotels to choose from so in the future if passing through this area I will not be staying here.
Note: One day after writing this review my brother and his wife returning from a vacation stayed at this very hotel. My brother just told me how he filled the tub with water to take a bath and water started leaking out of the tub. It was not obvious where the water was leaking so he thought it was the drain plug. After he finished his bath he discovered water saturated the carpeting in his room. He was given a discount after this which was nice but this is just another reason not...
Read moreWell it’s been quite a couple weeks here in the Ripley area with mother nature and things out of our immediate control being born and raised in Jackson County after loosing power my wife and I Stayed at the super eight in Ripley when our power went out which is currently still out after being kept up both nights of our stay by a group of very loud and disrespectful children that were unattended sitting in the hallways of the first floor till all hours of the night and getting next to nothing for sleep we decided to go back to our home with no power it is unfortunate that our home with no power or heat or water for that matter is a lot more peaceful, then staying at the Super 8 property we have stayed at the property a couple different times over the years along with family when visiting from out of state we never had any problems until this last visit when we complained to the desk about The unattended children running the halls we were told that the family lived at the super eight and there was nothing they could do about it this puts a very sour taste in both my wife and myself, Like I said to depart from the hotel to come back to a unheated powerless home things were pretty bad and to make it even worse when we were told by clerk at the desk with the strawberry colored hair with the pale complexion that there was nothing she could do, because the children lived here occupying two rooms, she told us that it has been a normal situation for the past couple months we were left befuddled and in a major state of disbelief, the police were also there on a couple different occasions once I belief it’s to be for the family with the children we were questioning ourselves on when the parents would actually bring the children in the room to bed the last night we stayed it was like a family reunion and the children multiplied from 2 to about 6 running the halls screaming till well after 3 am, I hate to complain about a local business in the community in which I live however until they can make some changes to suit the guest I do not Recommend staying at the property unless you want sleepless nights and a lot of noise And the insecurity of the police showing up daily for occupants of the hotel I would recommend staying home with no power heat or water I can guarantee you will rest a lot better at your own home despite it being dark and cold With that being said I think one could make the determination that it was the least thing from a...
Read moreDaniel, who is apparently the manager of this location, has a major attitude problem. He came off as very rude and dismissive during check-in and didn't seem to understand the process. We booked 3rd party but he needed to process a card and none of our cards were being accepted. We thought it may have been because we were out of state but the bank confirmed they hadn't blocked any payments. It turns out he was just doing it wrong for 3rd party booking. Eventually, he was able to process my card (although it turns out that was also an error). He insisted my card would not actually be charged and it was just a hold.
Once we finally made it to the room, the pillows were obviously still dirty. There was makeup caked on one pillow case. Daniel lied to my face and claimed it was stained, but I could literally scratch the makeup off this thing in chunks. There was also a soda bottle left in the corner of the room. Needless to say, these rooms are not cleaned as well as one might hope.
The rest of our stay was relatively uneventful. It wasn't until I made it back home that my card posted the duplicate payment that never should have been processed. I called and the man that answered was pleasant and saw the issue. He told me a manager would need to fix this. I obliged and called back the next day. This was when I learned that Daniel, the man who did this incorrectly in the first place, is the manager. They processed a return but they also processed a second charge. I tried to explain this but he was once again dismissive and interrupted me as I tried to explain and insisted it would not post which I've heard from Daniel once already. Daniel seems to think he knows how everything works and that everyone else is confused so I had to listen to Daniel explain how a debit card works for a few minutes but he can't let me talk for 15 seconds without interrupting me. At this point, I'm losing my temper with David so I tell him I'll just dispute the charge if it goes through a second time and we disconnect. I can forgive the mistakes that happened during our stay, but David should not be customer-facing. I can't endorse someone who is both rude and...
