I stayed here with my friend and my 13 year old son. The space was much larger than expected. I didn't realize it at the time of booking, but the space we reserved was an entire two bedroom apartment. It had a full kitchen and bathroom as well as a TV room overlooking the pool. Plenty of sleeping options - the second bedroom has two double beds and there is a futon in the TV room. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook inside or outside at the grilling area. They have a grill and several tables with umbrellas. Thr apartment had a large dining room table in the tv room as well.
The staff were super friendly upon check in, check out, and at breakfast for the weekend we stayed. They gave us a map with directions to the path that goes down into Glen Cove. We went at sunset when the tide was coming back in. It was beautiful.
We spent one afternoon at the pool, which was super clean and had plenty of shaded and unshaded areas to hang out. Really cool pool floats too! For adults and kids.
The breakfast was a highlight. They had many self service options including a great selection of tea and coffee, juices, fruit, breads, bagels, muffins and other pastries, cold cereal, oatmeal, granola, cream of wheat, Waffles, pancake and sausage on a stick, hard boiled eggs, omelettes, yogurt...
My friend lives nearby, and I will definitely be staying here more often now that I have discovered Claddagh! I will also bring more family with me next time as there is plenty of room to sleep at least 6 people. I'm interested to see what the smaller motel...
Read moreWe flew to Maine for the North Atlantic Blues Festival (NABF) and stayed at the Claddah on recommendation from good friends who have stayed there for the past 14 years! We were NOT disappointed, in fact staying at the Claddah, meeting Alex and Siobhan, and enjoying everything about our stay for 3 nights was just about the best vacation experience we could have had! We can't say enough good about Alex and Siobhan - they (and the motel) are a long lost breed of inn-keepers! Our first visit to Maine (which was awesome and wonderful), the NABF and the Claddah is unmatched and the superlatives cannot be overstated enough. The rooms are immaculate as well as the grounds, the beds are heaven and not a scrap of polyester - cotton quilts, real blankets (not those cheap stiff things that pass for blankets even in high-end lodgings), lovely pillows and decor that sets the standard for charming - it couldn't have been more comfortable and welcoming. It's probably been nearly 40 years since we've lodged at a hotel/motel that still uses actual keys! Loved that! Alex and Siobhan are as charming and welcoming as they could possibly be; the breakfast fare was bountiful and delicious; and they serve THE BEST coffee - great to wake up to! As we were leaving we spoke with Alex who greeted us at our car and we told him how wonderful our room/stay was, he said he'd hold our room for us for next year's NABF if we decide to come back! Travelers: THIS is THE place to stay if you'll be travelling to that area. You won't...
Read moreWe absolutely loved staying at the Claddagh Motel and Suites. We were just there for one night but would love to stay longer!
Our family of four spent a few days traveling through Maine via Rt. 1 and planned a stop in Rockport. We selected the Claddagh based on its location, price, and good reviews.
The motel is incredibly cute and charming, dressed in red and white and situated in a courtyard-like atmosphere with picnic tables and umbrellas. Accommodations were great! Beds were comfy and there was plenty of space. We had our own room and the kids had their own room, and it felt very homey and comfortable. The kids especially enjoyed the outdoor pool (even though it was late June in Maine and not quite hot enough to go swimming!). The pool was lovely and surrounded by grass instead of concrete, which was unusual but nice. There was also a BBQ near the pool and someone was grilling something that smelled just fantastic. We would have used the grill and had a picnic dinner if we'd stayed longer, for sure. And the Claddagh knows breakfast! So. Many. Options. and an entire fridge dedicated to breakfast items alone!
The folks were friendly and the location was convenient. We'd stay here...
