Econo Lodge Rocky Top — Hotel in Rocky Top

Giving this place 1 star across the board cause there is no option to give them 0. My father booked this room for me on my behalf for the drive back from Disney me, my sister, and my three year old were making. I am truly shocked to see any positive reviews of this place and I am halfway convinced they are fake. We arrived at 12:30am exhausted and ready to crash and sleep. My father accidentally booked a smoking room, which should have been fine since I don’t mind the smell and have stayed in smoking hotel rooms before with no issues. I guess they don’t bother cleaning their smoking rooms though with the assumption all smokers are dirty. The place was filthy in general, with ashes over everything and in the bed as well as dozens on burn holes through all the bedding. I went back to the front desk and the attendant was able to get us a different, non smoking room. Upon arriving to the new room I went in alone to check the place out. The tub and bathroom were filthy, and the sheets and bedding had obviously not been changed between guests. It was apparent from the smell, and also crusty stains all over the blanket and bed that were obviously not the type of stains that are residual from not coming out in the wash. At that point I didn’t care if the room was clean I just wanted a clean bed to sleep in, so I headed back down to the front desk just to ask for clean linens and I would change them myself. I was informed she had no access to the laundry after 9pm, but she could put us in yet another room. We head over to room 3 and FINALLY received clean sheets, but when I pulled up the corners I found bed bugs. I walked down a few rooms over where I saw another family unloading their things and informed them so they could check as well. I went back into our room to take pictures for evidence when the man I spoke with came in with a bed bug checker, and confirmed they were in fact bed bugs. He also informed me when they checked their room they found heroine needles under the mattress, and showed me the photo they took. At that point we all booked it out of there and sat in the kfc parking lot next door figuring out next moves. We thankfully were able to find a comfort inn 15 minutes north, and him 30 minutes south. We didn’t get to bed however until well after 2:30 am setting a bad tone over the rest of our trip, and my father is currently negotiating with booking.com for a refund which is looking grim. Picture will be attached of the bed bugs in room 307 once I can find it among the sea of vacation pics 😅, and I wish I had the man send me the pictures of the needles. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN ! !!!!! After staying her i am pretty sure ALOT of the good reviews are Totally FAKE ! We traveled from michigan and checked in on 8/8/25 at around 9 pm and as I pulled back the top sheet I seen something that looked like mold on it so I used google lens and it said it was bed bug feces so I took all of the blankets, sheets and mattress pad off and there were BED BUGS and little bed bug eggs and marks of bed bug feces all over the mattress !! We immediately packed our stuff up and I told the office girl Shelby ( who was very understanding and apologetic and sweet ) that we were leaving because the bed had bed bugs and the manager wasn't there so we had to wait until the next day to get a refund . We went back the next day and the manager came out and I showed him the pictures I took of the bugs and he starting denying that it was their mattress Even tho I still had the keys to the room ) . so I told him I would go to the room and show him and he told me they RENTED THE ROOM TO SOMEONE ELSE AFTER WE LEFT( KNOWING IT HAD BEDBUGS !!)!so I couldn't show him . He finally realized that we were not leaving until our refund was issued so he told the lady at the desk to refund it to our card and HE WALKED AWAY . No Apology or anything just total RUDENESS . FILTHY AND DISGUSTING ! IF YOU STAY IN ROOM 118 OR ANY OTHER ROOM AT THIS HOTEL I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BRINGING CLOROX WIPES AND STRIPPING THE BED DOWN TO THE MATTRESS !!!! I will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN ! You can see in the pics that there were ALOT of bugs and feces and little bed bug eggs . SEE PHOTOS IN MY POST !!!! DISGUSTING NASTY RAT TRAP ! UPDATE : BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT CHARGES ON YOUR CREDIT CARD . Manager guy told the front desk lady to refund our money and as she was doing that he walked over to the other computer and CHARGED OUR CARD AGAIN FOR THE SAME AMOUNT .Luckily I caught it on our bill the next day and he is now being investigated for FRAUD on our credit card and also has been reported to the Health Department for the NASTINESS at the hotel . Well, you get what you pay for. The room was cheap, and we learned why. The place was filthy. The pillows were heavily stained, sheet had a hole burnt into it, hair on the bathroom counter and in the bath tub. The corners where the wall joined the tub were black, dead bugs on the shower area floor, carpets had not be vacuumed, we put towels on the floor next to the bed because we did not want to walk on the floor barefooted. The A/C Vent was covered with dust and dirt, the back splash around the sink was covered with dust and dirt, and the toilet would actually twist if you moved while sitting on it. The ceiling light above the sink was real dim and flickered. that is just some of the highlights. Why did we not call the desk and complain, well, when we checked in I asked for a late check out which check out is 11:00 AM at this location, the man got a mean look on his face and said he could offer 11:30 but no later. Choice facilities always honor late check out, and I have never gotten less than 1 hour, so 30 minutes, never mind. That right there let me know what customer service was like at this location. We were excited because the ice machine was maybe 15 feet from our room. Well, when I went to fill the bucket, there was an old faded sign saying the machine was out of order to use the one by the office. Now this is a very large Econo Lodge, we were the 3rd building from the office, so I got in our car and went and got ice. There was so much wrong with this room that I don't have enough space to list everything. Oh yea, don't plan on watching TV, awful reception and the picture does not fill the screen. That's every channel. Okay, let's make this simple, what was good about our room? The shower head was awesome, nice pressure and plenty of water flow. The microwave was great, must have been a very high wattage, and the coffee in the room was surprisingly good.
