Garden of Eden Cottage Collection — Hotel in Saint John

We mostly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage itself is cute, and the bedroom was super comfortable. The pool area is beautiful, we went in every day and always had it to ourselves. The cottage is about a 5 to 20 minute walk to 5-6 local restaurants.

There were some small things we didn’t enjoy with our stay. First, the cottage only has A/C in the bedroom. The rest of the cottage gets hot and there’s not much of a way to circulate air. We found we mostly stayed in the room while there, and the host makes you turn off the AC if you leave, so it’s very hot when you return. There were also no shaded spots in the outdoor areas or by the pool. Last, the cottage doesn’t have curtains to keep out light in the morning, so as soon as the sun rises the bedroom gets a lot of light.

Coral Bay is VERY quiet, most restaurants close at 8pm and also closed at random without notice. You’ll see plenty of donkeys and goats out here! It’s a windy 30 minute drive to get to most restaurants across the island in Cruz Bay. For these reasons we probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again although our stay was very nice. We did get used to the drive but it is very rural. This would be an awesome stay for anyone looking to be in a rural area.

Being from St.Thomas born & raised, I wanted to surprise my other half for his 50th birthday (he is the hardest person on this planet to surprise) 🤣. We wanted to explore coral bay without rushing back to the barge or heading back at a certain time. Having different restaurants and beaches around us to explore or hanging by the pool and not leaving our garden 🤔 Bingo! I found this gem of a place that is truly The garden of Eden! It is your personal "get away from everything oasis! We opted to stock up, stay in and enjoy our garden and infinity pools as well as the cute, quaint and homely Caribbean cottage🥰 If you go out there are plenty of beaches and food everywhere. My other half was extremely surprised and didn't want get in the car to go nowhere 🤣🤣 We did snorkle at haulover tho. One of the beaches we have yet to snorkle. Beautiful snorkling, rocky and a little murky but saw lots of fish and even an octopus 🐙 We didn't stay out to long because we couldn't wait to get back to our Garden of Eden😉 Stopped at Skinny Legs on the way home. What a beautiful spot to relax and slow down. Hannah and Lorraine were nothing but kind, helpful, and always super responsive to any questions we had. The cottage was pristine. We didn't get a chance to swim in the pool but it sure looked nice. It felt like a home away from home. To whomever left the frozen pizza and bottle of tequila, we tried to pay it forward. I would recommend having a rental if you stay here as you are a little ways away from cruz bay and sometimes it can be a little difficult organizing travel. But again, Lorraine and Hannah to the rescue with some super friendly taxi drivers. If you do get Owen, tell him we said hello!
