I think under normal circumstances, this would have been a delightful place to visit. However, what started as a light drizzle when we arrived turned into a full-blown storm. While waiting for our food, the rain increased, and the swells became quite large.
We hid ourselves in the middle of their floating circle benches to keep warm and out of the painful wind and rain. While lightning flashed and thunder rumbled above us, we stayed bunkered in our spot while the staff took refuge in their floating building. After loud arguments were had by the staff, the girls told us to swim back out to our boats. There were no life vests, no warning to the boat captains that that was the decision they had made and no ferrying of people from their restaurant to our boats with the two motorized rafts they had.
Instead, we were told to swim out in open water during a storm about 50 meters to our boats. A life preserver had to be thrown from our boat and that brought 4 people in, who otherwise couldn't have made it. And one of the staff from Lime Out jumped in to make sure some of our party didn't drown.
After all of our party made it onto one of the two boats, the staff then delivered our tacos to the boats in totes with the rafts that they did not ferry people on across the raging stormy waters.
The tacos, although soggy from the storm, were still delicious. The safety protocols in place were abysmal. I was concerned that someone...
Read moreThe tacos are fabulous. Really!! The drinks are also very good. The atmosphere is great, except when it's crowded some of the weaker swimmers struggle for seats and it's annoying being glommed at the bar. The bar is shaded from strongest midday sun---a well thought of design. You can also sit at mostly sunny tables or on your own board/kayak.
Guests are friendly and in a good mood, so we could easily join others at a table (which staff also encourage).
Staff was good natured mostly but when they are mobbed they kinda lose track of who's next. One time we waited about 25 min to order because they took us about 15 min. out of line. Then it took another 30 min to get food. We had hiked all a.m. so started to get cold while already hungry. Granted it's high tourist season but it's at these times in particular they should pay some attention to whose turn is next.
Its a great business idea, they really rock it. Bring your credit card as you'll need it for the deposit. And this place is pricey--$8-$12 for a taco. And bring cash for renting if you don't have your own watercraft. Rentals run out fast. The folks at the Hansem beach parking area have some rentals but there are more at the next...
Read moreWhat an incredible experience! We greeted by the gracious Thalia and Dunia, who immediately made us feel like family. The grounds are immaculate and there is a fair amount of coral that survived the hurricane. We had a great time snorkeling and hanging out at the beach. It will be even more beautiful once the newly planted shade trees along the beach get some more size. The tacos drinks at LimeOut were incredible!! Great food and the unique experience of eating at a table mounted to the side of a boat, sitting on a stool that is submerged in the ocean, while fish dart between your legs is just too hard to describe! Wonderful just doesn't come close to describe this unforgettable culinary experience. Tacos, rum and ocean! We will...
