Writing this to the two Ishee reviews left tonight... You are the reason we all wish the internet would stop promoting the island...The audacity of your review and then to leave two...smh for what? Anywho the best food and drink and atmosphere around...also the only restaurant in this area. The resources on an 11 mile wide island that has rolling electrical outages and has to ferry everything in are limited. This includes space...workers...etc. Island time is real and we all enjoy it...there are restaurants in major cities with longer wait times. It is not anyone's responsibility but your own to have emotional intelligence and to have social responsibility, cultural awareness and research for your vacation destination. You put yourself on the wait list correct? That implies you are willing to wait. You have the ability to ask for the wait time, ask for your waiter if you need something, ask other people about the place before you go. On an island where water is trucked in...electricity is out more than it's on...they serve beef but no cows around...limited housing due to air b&bs now for tourist and even more limited; affordable housing for residence who are workers at such restaurants...I would say a total wait time of 1.5hrs isn't bad. Not sure if you noticed but common theme for island life is drinking...its not anyone's wish to get you drunk bc clearly you are an entitled visitor one who might get in the car drunk and drive on the wrong side of the road and cause major issues...so No, I guarantee making people wait so they can get "boozed up" and forget about it is not on the agenda. There have been new laws put into place that cause restaurants to close bc of new requirements which pushes more people into the restaurants that are open. Also, why would someone apologize for you being upset at a normal wait time for the establishment? Accountability for what action? The waiter doesn't cook your food? You ordered so you owe the money so he gave you your check...seems he is accountable to his employer, who is responsible for keeping the place open so people like you can eat real food after a long day at the beach. I will end it with this... you are on the most perfect island in the entire world, with the best people, best stress-free atmosphere...a truly tranquil place where wifi and cell service is patchy...and you wanted to hurry up and get on Google to leave 2 bad reviews for the same incident to drive their score down? Like what was.your point? The food was still the best around! Which is why you were there in the...
Read moreLooking forward to having a casual dinner @Skinny Legs and after over an hour, left frustrated.
Upon arriving there was no one to direct us. We stood there hoping someone would see us. We were then told to go to a table “over there”? We sat down and again waited. We tried downloading the menu from the QR code on the table…. No such luck. Waitress greeted us, and we asked for menus. She instructed us to “scan the code. “ I told her we were unsuccessful. She then gave us a printed menu (half is which sat is water) so we let it dry a little.
We placed a cocktail order. My wife tried the special drink of the day. It was not good (had a metal aftertaste) We informed our waitress, so she took it back and thought she also placed a replacement drink order that my wife requested. We’re still waiting on it….
We then and finally placed our food order. I like to get the specials of the day. We were told that they are out of the special. We revised and placed our requests. While waiting we took in the ambience. Very casual and kind of different. Cool. We then kept watching this Cincinnati Refs fan (who may have been there for a while)at the bar, loudly voice his support for his team…. again and again and again. No big deal , we thought, just part of the flavor of the place.
Still waiting for the food. I looked around and noticed that they were not full (about half a dozen empty tables) and most of the other patrons at tables were not eating anything as well. Another nearby couple asked their waitress where there food was and were informed that “it should be out soon, that there grill in the kitchen is really small and can only handle so much”. Meanwhile still waiting on my wife replacement drink….
We let it go 20 more minutes and finally asked for the check. By this time we had been there over an hour. Took a quick look at the bill and was still charged for the metallic tasting drink of the day. The waitress at this point is not happy, gave me my change and informed me “that the usual wait is 30 minutes for future reference”. I didn’t say anything and...
Read moreSo our Skinny Legs trip was kind of an accident – we drove all the way over to Salt Pond Beach b/c it was raining in Cruz Bay and we were told the “dry” side of the island is always better when that happened. It was raining harder at Salt Pond by the time we got there! So rather than trek down a muddy trail and sit in the rain, we backtracked for lunch at Skinny Legs. We weren’t the only ones with that idea; the place was heaving. Fortunately they have a lot of parking, we kind of wedged our jeep between two boat trailers in the harbor parking lot next door. After tracking down the guy who had the waitlist (turned out to be the owner!) we tucked ourselves away in a corner of the bar with a couple of beers and waited for our table. As we watched the staff bob and weave through the hectic crowd, it occurred to me that they all seemed to have really good attitudes for being as busy as they were. The bartender always delivered our beers with an unhurried smile, even though he had a stack of drink orders. The waitstaff very politely excused themselves as they zipped around the space. It was really impressive. We finally sat down after about a half-hour wait (which is what we were quoted). The service continued to be friendly and relaxed, and the burgers were ah-may-zing! Very happy the weather gave us an excuse to try Skinny Legs; it will be definitely be on our must-visit list next time we’re...
