Fantastic experience when visiting the University. Staff are a mix of student part-timers and full-timers but all equally courteous and efficient. I had great service at the hotel (guest house?) and everyone was talkative (with appropriate restraint) and friendly. The gym is decent - it has modern equipment and they dish out complimentary earphones for you to use while gym'ing. They're throwaways which I found a little unsavoury but hey, you're in the land of the beehive, right? The room I had provided coffee pods, with four disposable cups (and lids) and HD TV, decent WiFi (you can request faster access), eduroam alternative, a bath/shower and basin (located in the entry way of your room but not in the way). The main area provides Starbucks Coffee on tap all day (with an option for iced), plus Hershey's Kisses chocolates (as much as you like); breakfast is a bit limited but you get a decent selection of sausage, pancake, syrup, bacon, egg, egg with cheese, cream cheese, bagels, various coffees, etc. I found the coffee station wonderful - mix up an iced Starbucks coffee with hazelnut milk, mint milk, half-and-half, or whatever you like! Near the end of our stay they released the seasonal drinks like hot apple cider and Starbuck's seasonal tea / coffee. The campus shuttle is convenient - I was able to get a lift to the US Postal Service post office to send off a package while the driver waited and then he took me along his route to drop me off at the Porcupine restaurant. Really great! I really enjoyed my stay here and I would certainly do it again. Oh, ancillary items: USB charging station at entrance to guest house, there's a computer room to print and surf, there is a similar station (no printing) next to reception, there's a 24/7 cafe to buy snacks etc. for your room (and your room has both a bar fridge AND a microwave), and there are a bunch of board games at reception to enjoy (or take to your room, I suppose). Again, one of the best places I've experienced. Totally great and worth...
Read moreConference Services- We rented out the Granite Room for my Daughter's College Graduation Party.
We worked with Tory Keuffel to help with our party planning and from start to finish she made it a lovely experience. Tory communicated regularly and even right up until the day before to ensure that we were on the same page. She offered lots of excellent suggestions along the way. She gave us a point of contact during the party in case we had any issues. Turns out that we needed a couple of items that I had forgotten to grab. Her staff member made quick work of my request and saved the day.
The venue itself is very clean, modern, and had everything we needed (Kitchen with Large Fridge and Sink, Industrial Ice Machine, Ample Parking, Restrooms, A/V, Sound System, Outdoor Fire Pit) and served us perfectly! The Granite room is physically attached to the hotel- however, it really felt more like you have your own exclusive private party space.
There are many customizable options available to choose from based on your event size and the time of year. Tory is a whiz at walking you through the process to best meet your needs.
Tables and chairs for indoor seating are all set up and included in the rental. We also opted to rent out the back patio which was so lovely! Again additional tables and seating were provided and set up and included in the rental of the back patio seating.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this event space for your next private party or conference.
I know we will definitely be renting this space again when our other child graduates from the University!...
Read moreWas staying here for a conference and the check-in process was easy and nice. The next day there was 6-8 inches of snow and you would have thought the staff has never experienced snow. The shuttle service was all messed up and the student staff was not prepared to handle everything. People from other conferences were all asking about shuttle service and there was no procedures in place. Any other hotel would have a sign-up sheet with times the shuttle comes and goes. I eventually got a ride from another colleague and I asked a very tattooed employee to give me the name and number of who is in charge. He did but he was rude, impolite and was downright mean. He should not be working in hotel customer service if he can’t handle taking control of things. He even went around his own staff and snuck different people onto the shuttle even though we had been told we would get the next three seats. When we confronted him on this he said “too bad, the first ones to run to the shuttle got in.” Incredibly rude. I called the manager of this hotel and she was kind and explained the situation. Apparently certain conferences get specific shuttles from her hotel vs the campus. I tried to explain that as a guest we didn’t know any of this but we deserve to be treated with respect and decency. She agreed and apologized. I understand the young employee is learning and hopefully from this experience he will do better next time there is a snow storm and several dozen guests needing a...
