Beautiful and quaint victorian-style house from the late 1800s. The majority of rooms and baths are decorated era-appropriate furniture, art, and fixtures. Some downstairs are recent additions though, in case you would prefer that. I believe there are also accommodations in the guest house.
The rooms are quiet, we stayed in the now white "red room", which is all the way in the back of the house. It may have the smallest bathroom, but it is very quiet, looks over the woods behind the house, and has a window a/c unit that kept the room cool and dehumidified.
Then there was the shining star that made our stay even more enjoyable, and that was the hostess Gail. She makes a great breakfast, and went the extra mile with it by accommodating our various good restrictions. Gluten, dairy, and some fruits for one of us, and no pork products for the other. Everything was delicious. Gail even listened to all my incessant talking and questions about the house and about running a B&B. She made the stay feel like being with family, but without any of the obligations of staying with family. This was our first stay at a B&B, and we will be staying here again whenever we are in the area.
There is a beautiful waterfall a short drive and short walk nearby - Piersons Falls, we highly recommend it. The town is cute, and has some stores and restaurants worth visiting. They also have an outfitter with whitewater rafting and the longest zip line in the state(s ?). We were planning on doing that, but ran into friends and went to Lake Lure nearby. Saluda is a great location to stay with many activities within 30-50 minutes distance, including the Biltmore estate. We will be returning to revisit some, and...
Read moreMy husband surprised me for my birthday-couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay! Beautiful, historic Victorian Inn decorated with period taste and private en-suite rooms. But what made this stay so spectacular was the Inn's owner-she was professional, accommodating, warm and personable, and it was a pleasure to get to know her. The breakfast was different each day and it was delicious and more than you could eat! But the best was being able to drink her wonderful coffee on the wide front porch and the gardens with blooming hydrangeas in view in the mornings. In the evenings, there was a side pergola off the dining room for drinks and conversation. There were great restaurants in town (within a short walk from the inn), and was close to Asheville and many sites and activities. A perfect stay and we plan on going back in the future. Thank you Gail and The Oaks for an...
Read moreMy husband and I went to a wedding in Saluda and stayed the night here (in the Blue Ridge room). We were warmly welcomed by Anne and Tom and immediately felt at home. The bed was really comfortable and we had everything we needed. I have a gluten allergy and Anne went above and beyond to accommodate this - she made a delicious breakfast casserole, hash browns, and a yogurt parfait with fresh fruit (and granola for my husband). She also had a fresh pot of coffee brewed when we came downstairs. We were able to easily walk to the downtown area. This was a short trip but I would’ve loved to have spent more time here. Lots of charming little areas to hang out, both indoors and outside. I highly recommend The...
